Well there was absolutely nothing I've seen so far that remotely makes me want to buy this.
The video was not impressive at all. Here's to hoping we see some better things before release.

Lots of opinions, interpretations, etc so I'm not going to argue, debate or get into any lengthly discussion other than saying one thing:

RENT BEFORE YOU BUY THIS YEAR

I know right....

This is the perfect year IMO to just rent NCAA before purchasing it out right.

I don't think we can even make a fair judgement on the game even with the DEMO because last year there were several glitches and things you had no idea about based on the DEMO.

For me i had no idea that the CPU could only run certain offenses effectively and i had no idea the deep ball was going to be way too effective to a point where you simply had to not throw it in order to ignore the problem.

But that was last year (NCAA 12) and i'm hoping despite the videos being shown that EA will release an outstanding game and make people eat their words.

But it's still a perfect scenario to rent it 1st this year.....

I looked at the td replay 4 times and notice that the safety looked to be caught out of position trying to cut back and make a play on the ball the pass was on point I'm glad he did not just turn on a dime

I think this may be the first year I boycott this stupid company and not buy their halfa** game, because it really does look extremely similar to 12'. I think I'll rent it though, just because I want to see if they actually did something that they said they would in the "read and react" defenders. Last year they said "no more warp tackling" which was f***ing bulls***. I have guys teleporting to tackle my a** all the time when I play 12'. I bet the head turning stuff will look really unrealistic. EA will probably have defenders heads spinning all the way around like the f***ing exorcist. And then when people complain they will just be like "well, the defender WAS looking at the ball, he just has the neck agility of an owl".
I never laughted so hard......

I wish they would change things each year in the game as well. Ive been playing since Gamebreaker's first season, but Im glad they at least have a decent college fb game out. They make upgrades every year, but they have limitations because of the huge amount of schools. Its not like the pro sports where you cap at 32 teams, venues, dialogues, etc.

That being said, the DBs are still dumb. I play a lot in a 5-person dynasty. We have to bump up the top teams in our dynasty conference to all 99s on defense in virtually every category to make the game playable on Heisman. Even then, while you get robo DBs you also get the DB shown in the USC-Orgeon clip who watches the guy catch the ball in front of him. When I watch the other players in our dynasty get those types of DBs I get pissed. When it happens to me, I feel like Im cheating. The sliders really should affect game play more --- especially on defense. When pash rush is high, D-Line should crush the OL. Disguise the blitzing more please. Don't blitz safeties from 20 yards away. Quit jailbreak blitzing so much. Rotate coverages more quickly. Its too easy to recognize this stuff against the cpu in dynasty mode. The guy playing against Oregon misreads coverage on two plays and gets away with both of them. The LB picks the ball in our dynasty with pass coverage bumped to max and qb accuracy at 15. But its hit or miss on the TD throw. The DB should ALWAYS jump that route with the read is so poor. Just my two cents.

I wish renting was a option for me. There is no Blockbuster/rental store anywhere near around me and I dont want to do Gamefly/online renting. There have been alot of games I would like to rent

I would definitely rent this game before I buy. But, I havent rented a game since January(maybe before that).

I essentially "rent" pretty much every game I buy because I sell most of my games on Ebay. Heck, I've even made a profit a couple off times when Amazon offered $20 pre-order credit and other sales.

I think this looks better than 12'.. maybe I am one of the few.. I guess I do not expect much more though. Some people will never be satisfied with the game, oh well, never takes the fun away from us who do enjoy it.

It makes me smile reading some of the posters who can easily see how much of a marketing FAIL this was!

I always have hope, I just don't see any video game company releasing old game play in a game play blog. That makes people angry and could possibly lose sales. I don't think I've ever seen a sports game pull the okie doke on anyone in a positive way. I'm forever a skeptic when it comes to EA at this point, but I do have hope they can change it if they really want to.

Not total disagreements mind you, just seeing positives where you saw negatives.

First play I like how the safety got to his drop. The defense was fairly disguised and he had to get to his zone. To get to his zone he had to turn and run in order to get there at the proper depth. He didn't have his back turned the entire time. In previous iterations that safety most likely would have just been lined up in his zone and not to the strong side of the formation. When he bailed to get to his zone he didn't do the "Space Invaders" shuffle. He turned and ran. That's a positive.

Other positives: Linebackers buzzing out to the flats. Corners getting their hands on receivers and redirecting them before releasing them in zone coverage. Defenders carrying receivers through their zones. Not every defender automatically reacting like magnets as soon as a ball is released.

Yeah, some other stuff looked pretty shaky. Hopefully it can be tightened up. But, without knowing difficulty and without sliders..... As for Oregon's defense, Barkley did complete 77% of his passes for 323 and 4 TDs vs. this secondary so, maybe this is fairly accurate.
On the first play, my confusion was more along the lines of the alignment and the play. I liked the rotation, but you won't be a safety at any level of football long if you're turning your back to the play to get in position. It'd be one thing if he turned and ran with a WR who was coming through his zone, but he had his back to the play almost throughout the entire significant portion. If the read and react system operates as they say it will, that's going to be pretty brutal having a guy with his back to the play.

I really did enjoy that the zones, hook zones in particular were no longer static. Twice the inside DB knocked the slot WR off his route at the line of scrimmage and then stayed with him until he released him to the next zone. Unfortunately on one of these plays, the inside slot defender got stuck in a glitch animation and was taken out of the play.

Flat zones and deep 1/3 zones were completely off. The touchdown was confusing as the DB that failed to make a play on the ball was incredibly out of position. I believe on that same play, the middle hook zones were completely abandoned and the underneath route would have been an easy TD.

The automotion play was so horrendous though. There is no difficulty or slider that should ever lead to a play like that. As far as I am concerned, that was worse than the option defense glitch in NCAA 12. The two flat zone defenders were completely lost, one mirrored the underneath drive route before fading off to the endzone and the guy on the right was just glitched completely. Offensively, the HB failed to run his assigned route which would have been an easy TD had it been run.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt but that clip showed absolutely nothing of the things they've been touting for so long. No read and react, awful crowd noise, I didn't see much in the way of drop backs and passing animations and those studio updates get worse and worse as we are more exposed to them.

The Show 12 released without a demo this year. They went with an early release kiosk at Best Buy instead. Some people feel demos can actually hurt sales.

With EA trying to make money with Season Pass I can see the day where EA stops making demos for free and forces you to buy Season Pass at $25 a year to get an advance showing of the game. Plus with Season Pass you are trying the actual game, not an older build that may have bugs and disappoint you. It also has full difficulty options, all teams, full presentation, etc.

EA has always released demos and they usually have commentary in them unlike 2K. But there is always the possibility of them not doing a demo in the future.

All I wanted was to hear they had a spring game and maybe some fix's gameplay wise

Dang I miss that game, maybe I should pick up a PS2. As others have stated, even with the $45.00 pre-order, I don't see anything worth it that adds value here from the frustrating NCAA 12. (Only new NCAA I bought, NCAA '09/'10 were purchased used at $20-$25.)

Very disappointed, why can't we have NCAA '04 ported to this generation?

I think the early PS3's allowed for backwards compatibility with PS2 games....don't know why they did away with it.

I was watching some earlier NCAA games from PS2 on youtube and I swear the crowd noise, in general, was better with far earlier versions. I hope their improvements with NCAA 13 pan out.

That's not to say that the earlier games were superior....just look at the graphics of today's game compared with back then. But my frustration comes from what they seem to have been going in the opposite direction with. As far as making big changes I wouldn't expect much until the PS4 makes its debut.....they have to give people a reason to upgrade to the new console.

I personally prefer 06 to 2004, but that's just me.

Anyways, this was a terrible job by EA's marketing department. I'm not cancelling my pre-order -- at least not yet -- but I'm going to need to see something other than a team with a pro-style offense run on varsity to really see the under-the-hood changes they're supposed to be implementing.

What I'd like to see is a demonstration of the new AI system on all-American side-imposed with last year's version. That'd go a long way towards quelling my, and the NCAA community's fears about this game.

Another good idea but Poorly implemented.

I tested lowering to 25-50 depending on player, and it's a night-n-day difference.

Unfortunately, who what's to edit that many player's, then deal with editing the in-game generated player's just to accomplish this?

A "GLOBAL EDITOR" would go a long way, but that's giving the gamer too much customizing ability.

I'll just rent, but I'm looking more to what Madden is talking about bringing to the table this year.

I just create NCAA teams http://www.operationsports.com/forum...d.php?t=513261 on there and use what they have to play some college.
That's impressive but it really SUCKS that you have to do their job in order to enjoy the game! So so so tired of the disappointment!

They may want to call an audible in their next play book for some damage control! Roll the dice and show us everything EA! From equipment, gameplay, Teambuilder, and RTG... Let us have it! They seem to think this cloak and dagger role is to their benefit.... Obviously these responses say otherwise!

I can't quite tell, but it looks like the receiver that caught the TD is wearing that facemask Barkley wears. The visor he's wearing makes it difficult to tell for sure.
