I find it interesting that EA did not mention nor show in this video draft class names being recorded in this version of Madden 13. They want to talk about immersion and creating a storyline in franchise mode yet they still have failed to record every single NFL players name including the draft classes.

MLB the show has almost any name you can come up with recorded into the commentary, why is this so hard for EA to fix? I can't stand one of my rookies becoming a superstar three seasons down the road and the commentators call him by his number... Or when the opening commentators don't have the starting QB's name recorded.

I know this was a demo and not sure if this was mentioned, but I definitely noticed the same line quoted twice in this video. I understand it's a demo but not exactly the type of demo that builds confidence. There was also a TD pass were the announcer seemed monotone throughout the whole commentary even when announcing he TD pass?

So, what to they do from E3 to it goes gold? Take vacations till it goes gold and then come back for feedback?

On Twitter, I've read where they tuned and squashed bugs up to E3.
I guess my question is: what could they tune on that TD to make it show more excitement and have less dead space?

Nantz: They are in the same division, they met already once, and for the team they lost the last matchup. How much do they want this one?

Simms: Well, first off, it's tough to dominate a team twice in the same division...They're gonna have different answers for the team today.

Needs to be more specific!

Now is EA asked for our opinion on this video. Why do you feel the need to quote me and make such a statement?

Why not just make the statement to all the other members who feel the same?

One other thing to point out. They implemented video with big play moments. Which you would think is the right scenario to showcase some exciting commentary. Guess what it FAILED.

Now you may need 82 hours of commentary to see the failer, but I don't. They showed me big plays with commentary and it was bad. Why would I need 82 hours for?

Anyway history has proven what we see in MAY JUNE or JULY is what we will get come AUGUST.

have you ever see any video of Madden this gen that looked or sounded one way in May , and then change come August?

I will kindly answer that for you "No"
I don't need 82 hours of commentary to hear the failure. But I do need more than a handful of lines on probably pre-alpha video. It would be like saying the entire pass trajectory system they implemented was a failure based on one screen pass.

And if video's we see in May and June are what we're going to see in August then I guess this is the first year you'll be able to be sacked on 1st and 20 and have it be 1st and 24 (1:30). Crowd noise will also be virtually non-existent and no teams or players will ever be mentioned. They did just update the scoreboard as well so I guess this will be the first year that what we see in May is in fact different than what we get in August.

We've never seen EA deliberately show as little gameplay as possible like they have this year. There wasn't even a point to having the Audio Playbook yesterday because the only new thing we got was the Madden Theme. June 4th is when the cat's out of the bag.

It's not like I can press the A button and filter through it, lol.

I have a gut feeling that is the way Nantz-Sims will be, too. Recording them together was huge and they've worked together for 8 yrs plus, 99% of the commentary is ad-libed,

Just need to hear it in more action and game play.
I respect your optimism Road, but let's be real, Madden is not in the same atmosphere with commentary. And 2Ks commentary doesn't repeat nearly as much as you make it seem. The comments are spot on and observational to what happens on the court....this is what Madden should be. There is no excitement, no comparisons between last games stats, struggles etc. in short Madden 13 has no excuse and if they don't deliver on June 4th then people should just accept the fact that EA won't deliver without competition. Look at FIFAs commentary, again it is light years ahead. #June4th

I agree with all of this. Everything hinges on June 4th and how M13 comes together. If they cant do it now. Then we are just going to have to wait until next-gen to hopefully get a decent football game.

No comment on the commentary. Most of what I would say has been said.

But I don't understand some OS folks. This is a sports video game forum for us to discuss video games. The vid was posted here for us to discuss. Are we not supposed to voice our opinions because it's a WIP?

Is the only acceptable comment, "I'll wait for the retail version before I judge." Maybe next time they can post the vid, make that comment for us & lock the thread.

That isn't my position, but on the flip side, are you saying that nothing is tuned between now and the time the game goes gold?

I agree compared to 12 and beyond, the commentary is not even in the same strotosphere as some of the others. I don't understand why people think otherwise.

I'm just saying I think it's a bit early to bury 13.

Lol... Please tell me why EA would release these vids if it’s not what we're getting? I don’t know how many times we hear "its a early build" etc.. but when the plastic is ripped off it’s the same thing we've seen in pre-released vids.. The audio was bland & boring point blank period, so until we see something different it is what it is. EA has released these vids not to discourage or hype us but because "it’s in the game". Those boring calls will not be removed or fixed.

# 130 Da-Man @ 05/15/12 11:04 AM
Wasn't the new tech supposed to give the commentary a smoother, less robotic, less generic sound where instead of hearing the quarterback, the running back etc. you would hear player names seamlessly stitched together into phases? Am I missing something here?

# 131 DaveDQ @ 05/15/12 11:11 AM
The problem here is that this is something we should be seeing in Madden 08. What do we have, 2 more showings for this current gen? And we are seeing a very raw WIP video of once again, new commentary.

I'm sure those involved in the new commentary are excited to be a part of it and build on something new, but this is exactly what's wrong with this franchise. They do not give us much of anything with true polish.

Had this been introduced a few years ago, I would say to myself that it has promise and it would be something to look forward to. but because of this game's history with just putting things out there and not finishing them, I can't help but think this will be a little bit better than what we see in that video.

# 132 Dazraz @ 05/15/12 11:15 AM
More commentary lines but the delivery is still off. Also there is a real lack of enthusiasm. An interception was reported in the same way as someone stepping out of bounds as opposed to a potential game changing event.

# 133 TexasBorn1 @ 05/15/12 11:21 AM
Not very good, but what they showed in the Audio webcast was a heck of a lot better so I will give it a chance.

If Chase says we can fine tune the rough edges till the game goes gold, fine. If not, oh, oh.

Heck, everyone that has been here awhile knows they can tweak after June 4th.
Heck, Everyone here know what you see is what you get in regards to EA's videos they put out around this time going back the previous 6 years. To be honest, we have no reason to believe the commentary will change between now and launch day.

I for one am tired of hearing "Wait until June 4th". The hell do I have to wait for? This product has been lackluster for the past 6 years and you (EA) want me to wait until a certain date to say "OMG..WHAT A TURN AROUND". BS! Show us from the gate that you stepped up to the plate with fantastic gameplay and top of the line commentary.

I'm just tired of it....

EA Sports Madden dev team said that they will impove the commentary yearly so it's won't get repetitive so that's a good thing.

Do you know for sure they stop programming the game from now until ship and beyond with patches?

If it's true, I'll agree.

I thought they keep programming till ship and beyond.

You are right, we can't bury M13...only if it is deserving. And we won't know until June and in August. I really do hope they pull it together and surprise us all with a massive overhaul, history however is not on their side. And especially when other sports games show their videos before their release dates and it's polished.

I'm sure much is tuned from now til whenever. I'm just trying to understand the folks that are yelling WIP behind every negative statement as if the vid wasn't posted for us to discuss.

Yeah, that early build excuse doesn't fly with me anymore, and that applies to games not made by EA as well.

The videos I've seen so far for both football games have tempered my initial excitement. For me, the demos will be the true selling point.

Aren't we juding what we see NOW though? Maybe I should just speak for myself, but if I were to voice my opinion of the commentary in the vid, it would be just that, my opinion on the commentary in THIS vid.

Now, I do understand folks feeling like this is what we're going to get because little ever changes from even the earliest vids (not counting rosters, blatant glitches, etc). But we're still talking about what we're seeing now. Isn't that why the vid is posted? Aren't we supposed to be discussing what we like & don't like?
