We all know how crazy and buggy M12 commentary was, so I just don't get what people are bugging about but that's just me.

I like the way they seem to realize what's actually happening on the field, as it happens and there doesn't seem to be AS MANY awkward silences. I don't agree, even from these small samples, that it's just more of the same or nothing seems to be done. What are people comparing it to, NBA2k and The Show, do they reasonably expect after M12, for M13's commentary to be on that level?

That said, I don't focus on commentary that much anyway and didn't even feel the urge to turn off M12's, even though it was noticeably bad.
I think it's safe to say that yes, we not only expect it to be at that level but better. EA/Madden is not the new kid on the block. This isn't just a M12 issue but a Madden issue in general among other things. There are millions of products out there that continually improve without personnel continuity and tons of competition. This isn't an issue of improving over one season, it's failing to innovate over the last generation in an atmosphere that lacks any competitors. Madden is not the under dog here.

This commentary sounds routinely behind.....and without any kind of attachment or emotion for the game.

Better than Gus Johnson yelling late. But I remain unimpressed.

A few gameplay videos were released last year with Gus Johnson doing live commentary along with an EA rep (I believe). They were much, much better than what we received in-game. Granted, we can't get that same type of flow without having the commentators spend literal weeks in the studio. Combine that with the disc space we have in this generation and you're not getting a viable result.

However, what I and the majority of the posters in this thread are pointing to are the other games in this generation that have done more with less --- they made the most of their recording time and the disc space to create a realistic experience "from the booth". I understand playing Franchise may create some new and interesting scenarios, but sitting through the majority of a generic game only to have, say, thirty seconds to a minute of dynamic content is not providing gamers with a new experience. Other titles have extended dynamic commentary throughout a game and not just in key moments. As I said before, additions like these in the Madden series are long overdue.

Yes it does, but it's an older mix, too, as has been seen a few times in the thread.

The cutscenes look good but the game looks just like it has for years, and that really isn't saying much .

The commentary sounds okay.

What bothers me is how Nantz sounded. Seemed very different from what he sounds like in a real broadcast because the emotion almost didn't seem, I don't know, genuine? To be honest he sounded really Tom Hammond-ish.

I agree, I thought Simms sounded like he pretty much does in real life.

Not being bothered by feedback and not caring are two entirely different things to me.

Are those dead spots from the crowd during certain points when Nantz and Simms are talking intentional for this video to show off the commentary? Or is it just where the audio is at this point, a work-in-progress?

Yes, did you hear the clip yesterday of the new crowd audio during the webcast? It sounds a whole lot better this year.

Answer from Shopmaster in regards to my question tonight for the GC Radio Show, he didn't have time to answer it on air but did tweet me about it.

Josh Davis ‏ @jpdavis1982
@Shopmaster What I would like to know tonight is if Nantz just says he drops back to pass, he catches it, or if he uses real players names

Shopmaster ‏ @Shopmaster
@jpdavis1982 He doesn't say he all the time. I think it's something that will be better when rosters are solid. Rosters weren't finished.

Depending on how early of a build that was, at that point, they may not have recorded hardly any names at all yet.

first off wtf is going on with the size of the numbers on the cowboy uniforms?
second i cant stand how they continually make the qbs look like hunchbacks (see romo)
third didnt we just hear that the crowd was supposed to react better to big plays? When they showed that first charger touchdown it seemed like any regular play, you couldnt even hear the crowd.

I still will probably be getting this game, but hopefully i wont be trading it away to a friend for half the value like the last 2 years because I was so disgusted with it.

That was what I thought. The original recording is probably him saying "he" or "home team" or "away team," but when put together it'll get replaced with audio of their names/teams.

I think I would be okay with the regular use of pronouns, if the trade off was more emotion during big plays.

I believe the build Shop played is the current build because he's talking about when he played it last week at Community Day. Which means the build we are hearing this in-game commentary from probably didn't have hardly any players names in it yet, because it shows V-Jax on SD and Shop was talking about playing with RG3 and the Redskins last week.

Yeah, the two intro's they showed during the livestream were much more polished and there was pretty much zero deadspace and they sounded lightyears ahead of this video.

Yeah after listening to TheSimStandard's Community Day Recap #2 video(everyone should watch if you haven't yet) and seeing the difference between these and the videos yesterday I have very little doubt that they aren't just using the WIP as a scapegoat but they genuinely mean it. So people can say oh we have heard it's an early build for the last how many years all they want, but now there is actual evidence supporting it which you cannot deny.
