Same problem. Just posted about it in the glitch thread.
I had a downloaded draft class - all cold zones.
Thought it might be that the patch didn't change already created files or players so I started a new association and simmed through the first year.
All rookies - all cold zones.
Completely unacceptable. And from what I hear this was a problem last year. It completely breaks the offline association mode and has ruined my trust in 2k. I feel like Theyre getting like EA with football - they know they have no one competing so they slack off and fail to go that extra mile.
So is there ANY workaround available for this or are we just stuck with horrible draft classes??
I'm extremely late to the party but I finally formed some post-patch impressions...
1. As other areas of the game improve the horrendous passing sticks out even more. The "over the head" pass that looks like an inbound pass in a soccer match has got to be removed from the game. There needs to be either a bounce-pass button in 2K13 or tremendously improved passing logic. Hell, there are very few passes inside the three-point line IRL that are not bounce passes. In 2K12 it's a minor miracle when you see one. It kills so much of the game. You can never replicate true great point guard play in 2K12, whether in transition or the half court game. 2K reminds me of the NCAA Football game ('08 perhaps) where you couldn't put touch on your passes, you could only throw bullet passes. It just killed the game, this is pretty darn close to that. Alley-oops are worthless this year. They were probably too easy too connect on last year but now it's just ridiculously inaccurate.
2. Sliding/warping is really bad when trying to beat your man off the dribble. It is so much harder to create space and beat your man off the dribble than it was in 2K11. Mismatches hardly matter anymore, in most cases I can't beat Brendan Haywood off the dribble with D-Rose.
3. The travelling is so bad in this game that it may be the worst thing 2K has let slide on this generation. You have animation sequences where your player or the CPU will change pivot feet 3-4 times, it's unbelievable how bad it is.
4. The controls seem to be inconsistent (or not as responsive or not as "tight" as they were in 2K11). Maybe I still need more practice but I throw up too many running hook shots or try to shoot a fadeaway but I get sucked into an awkward contact animation.
5. Balls being knocked away on post moves and drives to the hoops happens way too often, especially with defenders jarring balls loose with their elbows, shoulders, forearms, etc. Just seems sloppy.
6. You seem to get stuck in the "I'm driving to the hoop, about 8' and most of the time I shoot an awkward pull up J instead of going into a layup animation" that wasn't too bad in 2K11. It's always been an issue in 2K but it seems to be back to a 2K8 level.
Pros
1. Visually the game is absolutely stunning. The animations are great as well.
2. The game is more challenging offensively than 2K11 especially with stars but I'm not sure it's in a good way. The CPU's defense seems much too cheesy except for post D which is a welcome improvement.
3. Association mode is the best yet as far as I can tell.
I'll stick with 2K12 mostly for the roster updates but at this point I can't put this game in the same class as 2K11. Maybe a new slider set will change my mind, hopefully...
I originally saved a game mid-stream and continued later, only to have it freeze mid-game as I called timeouts. Seeing this occur NBA 2k11, I restarted the game, quit, in an attempt to start over, and now the new game freezes during the half time show. This is occurred after 3 restarts and wiping out the game utility ( patch )data and reinstalling and replaying etc...
I now have no idea what to do, as it appears I can't get past half time of the next game of my assoc.
Any ideas from the gallery here, minus simming the game and seeing what happens.
The game certainly improved post-patch but it didn't alleviate my perpetual frustration with the game. Popped in 2k11 to see if my nostalgia got the best of me but to my surprise I loved every second of it. Got destroyed by the Clippers but it felt like I had complete control through the entire game. Hell, I think I gasped when the cpu missed a shot in the paint. This is a feeling that I seldom experience in 2k12. Maybe I just really suck on both ends of the court. It's entirely possible. But far too often the cpu sinks a heavily contested buzzer-beater to compensate for their lack of offensive strategy.
That being said, I DO enjoy 2k12 quite a bit. Pass speed being increased by the patch certainly improved the experience. Graphics are spectacular. I feel like overall player movement has gotten better as well, but I still have spurts where I feel like I'm about to have a massive rage stroke and I never felt that way with 2k11. Again, maybe I just suck.
Your team’s GM will now do a better job of acquiring one of your recommended players when he comes to you asking for potential trade targets. Be careful what you ask for!
Ive been playing MP before updating this patch , and i just updated it now..
i wonder how do you ask for trade targets in My Player ??
thanks alot
I may be late, but WHY did they remove the intentional foul (hold R-trigger and move right stick toward opponent)? I used to use this all the time when chasing down someone who had a layup!
Hey guys new to the forums have read a lot of them, no way at this point can I read them all, that being said if I ask a question that has already been addressed thats the reason.
So Ive been playing My player mode, have the patch and all and holy warp speed the game seems to be running on like 80 to 90 game speed or something this cant be the norm for the game. Is anybody else having these issues and if so is their a way to fix i
And I started a new my player seemed a little fast at some point it reved up to road runner & speedy Gonzalez speed which maybe amusing for about 5 secs but quickly ruins game.

You can still use the select button. The problem was I would hit that intentional foul by mistake while using R stick sometimes and trying to turbo. It happened a few times I guess 2K saw it too and moved it to a different button

Do these cold zones make a difference? In the player edit mode the amounts are still spread to "zones". I am just wondering if this is the reason a 84 rated 3rd year drafted player continues to miss every shot for me.
