I agree with you blues on almost everything you said. 2k12 shows you though that 2ksports has a tendency of listening a little too much to people's opinions on what needs to be changed. That's why I think people need to be careful what they complain about constantly and loudly. I know the bumping/grinding animations were a major complaint by many people here in regards to 2k11 and now they have adjusted the game according to those many complaints from 2k11. Now 2k11 ain't that bad in hindsight regarding bumping animations..I still really like 2k12 personally but 2ksports listens so people need to be careful about what they label as issues imo.
wish they would listen to the association complaints.
After downloaded NBA Today game plays like pre-patch.
Well played two games and it seems the patch is gone!
All passes are floating again
All the T-Wolves PG's tipped 5 out of 6 alley oops even JJ.
All T-Wolves big men spd is crazy could get around them at all even after I pass them they would morph beside or in front of me.
Players are leaving shooters open even with deny defense.
The cpu score 65 of 83 pts in the paint; up and under mostly, Darko, Pekovic, & Luke score 28 combined with them.
The the heaven 2K?
Okay WTF this is spot on I got this game today after reading posts everyday about how much better the game is. Yet when I play today it lacks everything people were saying. Kobe cant miss, lack of fastbreaks, PG's are scoring way too much in the paint ( derek fischer and steve blake sliced up my D). This is after like 5 games where id keep hitting rematch in hopes the game would change. I dont get how these patches just disappear wasted my $.

As you mentioned you just got the game today and you've determined you already wasted your money??
You probably should give it a little more time, like a few more games/days and you just might come to a different conclusion, maybe. Good Luck
Reading some of these comments, I have come to the conclusion that many people are unaware that there are sliders or lack the initiative to utilize them.
Ahh, great. 2k still hasn't fixed the framerate issue. After 3 patches still no fixes? In 1.03 they said they would fix it as well for xbox 360.
Guess i'm still sticking with 2k11.
Hey sorry, this is my first NBA 2k on Xbox (old PS3 user) so how do I download the patch? (I just got the game today) Thanks guys.
The message pops up automatically the moment you log into Xbox 360. At least that's how I always download the patch. I've never downloaded patches manually.
physics are nowhere to be found in this game when it comes to creating contact with the ball handler...i can run right into the ball handler at full speed and he'll just conveniently slip right past me as if both players have been lathered in bacon greese. the ball handler is invincible to the laws of physics so he can just go where ever he wants...it's been nothing but pure frustration and disappointment trying to play defense in this damn game.
the only problem with 2k11's bumping was that one long bump animation...all they had to do was shorten that one animation, instead we get this annoying no-contact game...
in 2k12 there are no more hip rides when running into the ball handler's side. this is B.S. where's the physics?
all the time i see situations where i'm blocking the ball handler's path and should be stopping him in his tracks, only to see him "mario run" directly into my body with no contact animation...then he just keeps mario-running against me until the game decides it's time for him to slip by me.
what 2k needs to do is have bumping happen when it should...but allow both the defender and the offensive player break out of the bump animation by changing their direction. have more bumping, but make it less canned and add at least 3 branching points to the bump animation. if the ball handler gets bumped, allow him to change his dribbling direction or spin to break out of the bump animation...

There weren't real-time physics in 2K11 either lol. Funny seeing half the complainers being upset they can't roughhouse someone while the other half complains it's too hard to get to the basket. While most people just accept/adjust to what the game is. Instead of trying to suffocate someone, you can use spacing to play back some, anticipate their movement and cut them off. No it doesn't perfectly mimic real life and can always be improved upon. But it's not as frustrating as bad as you say imo

i never claimed there were "real time" physics in 2k11....what i'm saying is that 2k11 did a better job of having contact happen when it should...sure, 2k11's contact animations may have been too long, but at least they happened. in 2k11, as a defender you could stop the ball handler by cutting him off and creating contact, but 2k12 doesn't allow you to create contact with the ball handler most of the time. quit labeling anyone who points out a flaw as a "whiner" or a "complainer"...maybe some of us actually have valid points. i just want something that at least attempts to mimic real physics...meaning, if i run into the ball handler or block his path, he should be stopped with some type of contact...even a very quick contact animation would be enough...
quit making excuses for the game, spankdatazz22 - you're not even listening to what i'm saying...i never asked to be able to "suffocate" the ball handler...all i want is for contact to happen when it should...if i'm quick enough with the controller to block the ball handler's path, he should not just be able to mario-run right against my body for 3 seconds without contact and then slip around me...my quick reflexes and proper positioning should be rewarded by stopping him with a contact animation.
the game doesn't punish the offensive player for running directly into a defender - it bails them out by allowing them to dribble right into defenders, hopstep into defenders, spin into multiple defenders...the game allows the offensive player to do all of these things without any contact or consequence...meanwhile as a defender you can do everything right and have perfect reflexes and position, but no matter what the ball handler is always bailed out with a lack of contact. we should not just have to "accept" this as you say. the game doesn't allow "the best man to win" so to speak. the game doesn't allow skilled defensive gamers to stop a poor opponent because it doesn't even give you the proper tools (contact) to stop the ball handler. the game bails out poor offensive players and rewards reckless offensive play. it just feels like an attempt to appeal to casuals and make it easier for them to run around the court and go where they want.
2k tried to appease the "bump complainers" from last year, but they went too much in the other direction...all they needed to do was shorten the bump animations on the ball handler or make the bump animations "breakable"...instead they now allow the ball handler to dribble recklessly into defenders without being punished. if the bump animations were shorter and breakable, then no one would complain about bumping. people don't mind canned animations as long as they don't feel like they are being stuck in overly-long animations...if you give people shorter, breakable animations then you can replicate real physics AND still give people the feeling of control...then everyone is happy.

I'm not making excuses. Years ago when people were complaining relentlessly about being unable to make a layup I enjoyed the game for what it was. When people whined at length about the perimeter contact in 2K11 I enjoyed the game for what it was. And with some people were crying about the lack of contact in 2K12 I've enjoyed the game for what it is. While I don't doubt you'll see mario-running here and there for the most part I think they did what you say they didn't do - the contact animations are there and they're shorter. Without them it'd make online extremely difficult to play.
I just played a person that tried to run around with Derrick Rose and penetrate constantly; more often than not I frustrated him. The game was closer than it had any right to be (I shot 39% he shot 33%) but I won. 3pters weren't out of control. His repeated steal attempts were more successful than they should've been, but definitely were more fouls called than pre-patch - almost got Derrick Rose fouled out (5fouls).
AGAIN - it's not perfect but I have a really hard time seeing where it's as bad as some of you try to say it is. And if it truly is that bad, then wtf are you still trying to fit a square peg into a round hole for? The game obviously isn't for you. In poll after poll, people have said they like what 2K12 is. Could aspects be better? Of course. But I don't see how it's as terrible as some of you say; I'd say it's no where near that. While it can be frustrating at times, it's also the best basketball experience I've had. I hated 2K10 online with the cherry picking. I couldn't get into 2K11 online much because of people and their overly effective junk/hybrid zone defenses. And there are things in 2K12 that people do that can frustrate. But imo 2K has done what's expected, and improved/built on the experience each year. If you want to hit me up for a game feel free, because I'm not all that good and I haven't had people driving unabated to the hoop constantly.

i never said the game was bad. 2k12 is a good game...there are just a few glaring issues that need to be worked on that's all. just because i point out those issues, it doesn't mean i think the game is bad.
is there a headset problem with ps3??
