The way the AI runs the offense, stands around and just hits a defended shot more than half the time is just ridiculous.
Just wanted to say: I was seeing the AI hit contested shots at an unrealistic rate and decided to delete my multiple Settings files and clear the cache to reapply the patch(es). Worked like a charm, although I shouldn't have had to do that. I'm playing on All-Star/Superstar so can't speak to whatever experience if you're playing on HoF. But I've been having fantastic games against the AI. Not trying to change your mind but don't see how anyone could characterize the AI as poor based on my game experiences.
But if that or other things have already been tried then yep, time to move on.

I wasnt having an issue with the cpu Ai on offense. [when playing against them.] cpu vs cpu was ugly to watch though. You do have to make significant changes to player tendencies but I was generally satisfied with how the cpu played. other than the ridiculous overuse of headfakes at the rim.
But I do agree with Altimus's post.
2k12 is definately one of the biggest gaming dissapointments I have ever had. probably because nba gaming has been my hobby for decades and the amount of time I invested in creating a really good roster has been wasted for me. because I cant bring myself to play it.

I'll have to give it a go because something is wrong.

So delete just the setting files and clear cache?
Sent from my HTC EVO
Yep that's what I did. I think if you look earlier in this thread people mentioned feeling like the patch improved things initially then the effect somehow "disappeared" or reverted back.
If you don't want to lose your settings you can save them up to the cloud and just delete them locally. When you start up you can just load from your hard drive instead of the cloud.

Spank? aren't settings connected with unlocked legend teams? will they disappear?

No, because mine didn't - was surprised too. Reapplying the patch isn't my idea btw; got the idea from someone else earlier in this thread (sorry don't know your name but wanted to give you credit). I'm really not sure how everything's tied in to each other. At one point shortly after the game released I lost my two exclusive teams the '91 Warriors and Kings. Then around the time of the first patch, they reappeared.
I'm not sure if the patch is tied to the Settings file; I just know I was seeing players hitting contested shots with regularity and remembered someone suggesting reapplying the patch and it worked. Pre-patch I couldn't stand to play on All-Star; now I can play All-Star or even Superstar without feeling cheated

Was just going to post that I had a fantastic overtime game jazz vs nuggets and yeah the cpu made a come back but I had to adjust coaching profile and some other defensive settings and it was a great game. I did this and I think that the game has changed and I'm enjoying it right now.

So how do I go about re-applying the patch exactly ....kinda new at this

Yeah this would be great if anyone could tell how we go about applying the patch.
Just looking for a good game on All-Star. Play on Pro and its to easy, play on All-Star without adjusting the sliders and the cpu cheats beyond belief.
Problem is when ever I use some of the slider adjustments in this forum, it gets easy again. Would like a slider that allows for the cpu to be competitive and the chance of winning but not a guaranteed win all the time!

- Delete any settings file(s) you have or move to Cloud storage
- On XBox 360 refresh cache (go to Settings/System/Storage/hit Y button on hard drive)
- game patches will be reapplied next time game starts
Again this was a possible fix others have posted earlier in the thread. I had my games mostly playing out great post-2ndpatch then noticed the cpu started hitting a lot of contested jumpers and I was having problems winning/increasing frustrations playing on All-Star and Superstar. Two of the things 2K addressed in the second patch were the success rate for contested jumpers and dialed back the cpu overcompensation on the higher difficulty levels (can't speak for HoF; I don't play that high a level). Reapplied the patch and things returned to normal
Online game play is atrocious...Literally No Defense...All people do is dribble down court really fast with the PG and get easy almost uncontested layups...No need to call plays...PF are right under the hoop missing easy azz put backs...Meanwhile some bum player is draining 3's with a hand in his face or on a pull up fastbreak...Just run to the corner and fire up a 3.
I dunno...I hate the way the game plays online...Passing is goofy and erratic...I think they tweaked it somehow for the worst because I did not always feel this way about this version...Just not feeling online and given that is the ONLY way I play the game...NBA 2K12 is a WRAP at the moment for me.
Pretty graphics and great animations are just not enough...The GAMEPLAY has to make sense for me to truly enjoy the game
Let me explain why online play is horrible.
The online experience has been stripped down naked and offers no options, lobbies, hell, you cant even change jerseys at the head to head screen.
Without lobbies and the opportunity to select the type of difficulty, opponents by skill level or type of game ie; casual/sim/default everyone needs to be able to compete meaning..... children and others who know nothing about basketball other than,"shoot with Kobe drive with Lebron". In doing so your bball knowledge and organized game play makes very little difference against run and gun opponents. Is it right, Hell No! but thats what 2k has given us. This game is an epic fail and the most incomplete game to date. I've already displayed my disgust with 2k in an email to them. Its ridiculous how they flat out lied, held back and cheated loyal fans who expected a jump forward not a leap back.....smh not buying next year.

So after you reapplied the patch, what settings did you use? Any slider tweaks?

With 2K rosters I use mostly base All-Star/SIM sliders except adjusted shot sliders (45/45/47/50) and upping the fatigue and free throw difficulty, clutch off. Also play with the SiM-Project rosters/sliders to mix it up, which are excellent for those more detail-oriented.
Not sure that there's any one universal set that will satisfy all since people have such varying opinions on how the game should play and differing skill levels. I took Czar's advice and turned on Full Playvision and haven't looked back - improved my gameplay experience immensely. I think if you prefer more freestyle play then you should try Pro or All-Star/DEFAULT and tweak from there. I get the feeling a lot of people are more freestyle players but don't want to learn the new playcalling system

I missed Czar talking about the playvision, does this help the AI spacing or movement or something? I'm not what you would call "freestyle" player. I love running plays.
I was playing with pro/default with sliders, so I'm gonna default everything and try this again with the patch reapplied.
I'm an Association guy and aside from the AI issues, stat glitches and numerous bugs it's almost a joke to try and progress past one season in this game.
My final straw was more realization that the hotspot glitch STILL hasn't been fixed.
The fact that it is now TWO YEARS and the SAME hotspot bugs that make any rookie, imported or not have nothing but cold spots, which has basically made it so even if I train my new players to shoot 99 they will still brick a large portion of shots and get taken to the woodshed by 80 or even 70 rated shooters.
It's the biggest issue I've had with the game but it's just a glaring one that sums up all my problems with this game.

Just helps you to learn the plays. I know how some develop just from seeing from repetition. But it helps a lot to know how the players will move, spacing, etc. I leave my playcalling to Auto for offense and defense with full playvision and names on; just makes things so much easier. I didn't realize I was breaking plays when playing with the lite playview on
