Play as Santos, or really any team with Neymar.

The dude is like a cheat code. I'm better with Neymar than I am with Messi lol

I'm quite annoyed that when a player tries a first-time rebound shot, it's almost always a chip shot, even though I'm not holding down the chip button. It was the same way in last year's game as well.

This game needs a patch asap in my opinion. However, I doubt it will fix my problem - that is poor teammate AI. As in previous Fifas even in ultra attacking mode ( does it work at all?!) players aren't lively enough on offense. There are instances when I want to attack but there is no one to pass to. So I wait for more players to advance forward. The cpu seems to always be in defensive position no matter what. It's not fun attacking 2 on 6 all the time.

The fact the game manual is so bare bones doesnt help someone who is trying to get back into the series
Biggest defensive tip I can give is take control of one guy and keep him in position, marking opposing players as necessary. Other than that, let the AI do some of the work, influencing their decisions with the 'teammate pressure' button. The old FIFA habit of 'doing all the work' doesn't apply anymore. Once I got out of that mindset, my defense improved immensely and I was able to start winning some games!

It can be very frustrating at times. The only thing that makes it tolerable is that you have more time on the ball but I end up basically wasting time hoping that my players move without the ball. I have noticed that the better ST's will make more runs, especially towards space. I've changed formations as well and it's helped to give me more options in attack.

It sounds counter-intuitive, but try raising your Chance Creation/Shooting setting in your tactics to see better movement around the box. I played my last game with it @ 90 and Pass Risk only @ 50. My guys were much more active in trying to get into shooting positions, which including my LAM/RAM making inside runs and CMs stepping up into space at the top of the box. It seemed I always had someone available for a pass, rather than trying to get in behind or drifting away from me. I also used Organized as opposed to Free Form, so I had a better feel for where guys would be.

In games before with the same pass risk setting and shooting lower (60-70) things felt somewhat stagnant around the box. I tried higher pass risk, but that seemed to make my players run away from ball (in a bad way), leaving me with little support and difficult passes... hence the "risk", I guess.

I HATE this game so much. They have ruined Fifa in my opinion. I hate the damn online so much and all the cheese I could smash and break the disk in a thousand pieces. It takes everything for this post not to contain nothing but ***** this ********* ****** game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sad thing I want to like it but there is just so much that makes my blood boil. Everyone just rushes and runs into you over and over online. No fouls are ever called and the play style now is to use the physics to their advantage by just steam rolling people.

Then the high pressure fly on **** style of defense everyone uses makes me want to pull my hair out.

Make matters worse I am HORRIBLE at the game now apparently even though I was pretty good at world cup. Even went undefeated for a nice long span online in that game. Currently this new piece of crap gameplay we have now. I am 3-1-16.

I am ranting and wanting to smash the game. I just got stomped to a team 4-0 which was nothing but 50 and low 60 rated players. While I am rocking plenty of golds and silvers in the 80s. Yet the constant run over your players the moment the ball gets even remotely close to your player makes me want to scream!!! I am recording the next match like this just to show the stupidness that plagues this games online arena.

Toys R Us has FIFA 12 (and other sports titles) for $40 this week. Brought the ad to Wal Mart (due to the closest Toys R Us being 30 miles from my house) and they price matched it for me

This game is great. I really like the new camera angle. Visually it is much better. Only played one game so far, looking forward to really getting into it this week

# 230 Phobia @ 10/09/11 08:58 PM
I just got beat 9 - 0 in a online game. Worst part the guys team was a 60 overall.

This is flat out stupid. I am trying and trying and trying to figure out the game. I have never struggled so much with any game ever. Maybe Demo souls was the closest thing to being as frustrating as this game is. I have no words to explain how much I am hating this game.

5-1-20 record Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa Funnnnnnnnnnn

Physic engine has flat out ruined this game. Worst Fifa I have ever played.

Edit: another loss
Edit: and another loss
Edit: won another finally. Of course the guy quits after i get up two goals
Edit: and another loss!!!! Most frustrating game I have ever played. I am going to end up selling it if they don't patch and fix this horrible physic crap

Positioning on goal kicks is horrible. Here's what often plays out:

Goal kick for me
Keeper kicks it to around midfield
CPU wins a monster header
Ball magically lands at their Strikers feet who is unmarked in acres of space
CB's are still hugging the box
ST's are able to control, turn, and put pressure on my backline

Maybe it's just the poor positioning of CB's in general as I've seen them make braindead decisions. They still play way too far off ST's allowing them to control and turn. Contain doesn't mean you allow the attacker to turn and dribble forward, it means you force them into a sideways or backwards pass. You most certainly do not contain in and around your own box. You play on the attackers shoulder, preferably their stronger or inside foot. I'll do everything I can to keep my attacker from getting off a shot but they will pass to another attacker and my CPU controlled defender will be playing a few yards behind him.

Tactical Defending is Tactically Deficient

The game is completely broken. I get frustrated with some games like madden or ncaa cause of stupid stuff that happens but no where even remotely close to how insanely pissed I get at this game. It is sooo screwed up on so many levels. Worst fifa by far and a joke of a online experience. I bought the game entirely for ultimate team and all I want to do now is smash the game into a million pieces after every match. Every match is litter wonky physics, brain dead AI, GK abusers, or constant pressure run you over to the ground users. ZERO fun trying to play the game online.

I will continue to take a loss after loss after loss after loss but if I can't figure the game out I will sell it for sure.

No I understand I might not be the best player. But like I stated I have been decent at all the fifa's, but this version the physic engine is horrible. Now like I said that is MY opinion.

Now I have recorded multiple complete games which I will be posting

Video #1

Notice how his defenders apply constant pressure and are ALWAYS running straight at and into the ball handler. Now watch my defenders and notice how 99% of the time they are retreating and playing contain football.

Edit: I don't know what happened to the sound and the skip part in the beginning.

Watch the tackle he does to me at 8:39 that is exactly the stuff I am talking about. ZERO fouls in the game.

Yeah, that was an ugly one and there were a few others that looked questionable, but the defender looked like he got the ball first. But when you say "ZERO fouls in the game"... do the three fouls and two advantages in your favor not count?

As for defending, I understand any frustration with the user AI teammates lax off the ball marking. I have my User Marking slider raised for this reason when playing offline. However, you're not doing yourself any favors by immediately rushing the ball when you switch to a nearby defender or pulling guys out of your backline to chase.

I think a good deal of your frustration lies in the fact your are attempting to play FIFA12 as if it were a previous version of the game. Work on keeping your defender goal-side, don't always focus on immediately winning the ball back, and if you're not controlling the defender nearest the ball you need to mark any nearby runners.

Offense is more difficult to assess, as everyone has their own style of play and it greatly depends on your team's strengths/weaknesses. Based on that video, my suggestion would be to be more patient. It appears you don't have the team speed to counterattack or attack so directly. Try holding the ball up, not always dribbling forward, and when the pressure comes you'll be better able to change direction. It will also allow your players more time to join the attack which can give you more options and make you less predictable in your passing.

Thanks a ton QB!!

This was a bronze tournament so most my players which are all Ireland players so my team chemistry is high. They dont have best speed for sure. So I do try and move up maybe to fast but I have similar issues even trying to work ball back and around. They are always rushing right when I get touch and smash into me.

Also about the "fouls" I meant no cards, I should of said cards. What I meant is there is nothing to discourage this kind of play.

Also about my defense, I thought I played lanes and lack of rushing in vast majority of the time. Near end of game you can see the frustration building in my play as I started rushing in way more and even using some slides.

Also when yall say "mark" the man what does that mean? I don't think I understand all the options available to me

Any other tips? I seriously need it

Fair enough. It would be nice to see stricter refereeing across the board. Our club team has seen some off the ball or very late slide tackles from behind only get a yellow. But a lot depends on the referee personality for that match, as I pick up a yellow now & then when I'm 'Van Bommel-ing' people in the midfield to disrupt the counter attack.

Perhaps I was basing my comments on your play later in the game, but it was something that stood out. To me it looked like you were waiting for the old pressure system to kick in to suction you into the tackle. As you know, now you have to play the angles if you want play aggressive defense. Think about tackling in [American] football... do LBs run directly at a RB when in pursuit?

To continue with the football comparison, marking more or less means covering a man. Don't forget you can switch to a particular player by flicking the R-stick in his direction. So if you see their playing making a wide open run, you can switch to the closest defender to him to shadow him or block the pass. While you're doing that, the CPU defender(s) should do an adequate job of keeping the ball in front of them due to their containing mindset.

Bold 1: Yea I have yet to see a red card and only seen maybe 3 or 4 yellows in 26 matches online. So that seems kinda low to me especially with how much contact is in the game now. I swear sometimes I do feel like I am watching a "american football" game sometimes with the tackles that take place.

Bold 2: Not really, I played manual defense 90% of the time on the other fifa's. I was never a hold A or B to launch missiles at people. I always felt that play was cheap online so I refrained from using it. Plus I felt like I had better control with manual coverage. I think it has more to do with adjusting to the tackling. It is much harder to get a tackle once they have got past you which is one new change and the fact you get knocked all over the place by the high pressure guys just gets to me to the point it affects my play.

Bold 3: I never knew the right stick switched players. I know there has to be dozens of things like this I don't know. I always used the bumper to switch.

-------------------------------------------------------

Also my guys never make runs, isn't there a way to tell them to make a run? This is my standard things I use.

Defense
1) A = contain
2) LT = Jockey
3) LT + RT = Speed Jockey
4) B = Standing tackle
5) RB = Tell AI to mark ball handler

Offense
1) A = Pass
2) Y = through ball
3) X = cross
4) XX = Low cross
5) B = shot
6) RB + B = Finesse shot
7) BB = Low shot

Then I use the LT + RS to do skill moves but I am only so so at them. I attempt them only with certain guys and can only do a few different ones.

I have to be missing out on so many different important aspects.

# 240 Qb @ 10/10/11 04:06 PM
Left bumper will make your teammates initiate a run. You can press it when you have the ball to send a nearby teammate, or you can hold it when making a ground pass to make the passer run after he passes (think give & go).

Something I think is underutilized on offense is the lob pass (cross button). This can be used to make longer passes, often from one side of the field to the other when the defense collapses. You can also use it float the ball over defenders when passing lanes are congested. I have a fair amount of success using it around the box, which comes in handy due to all the traffic. If you hold RB while making a lob pass, you perform a harder, lower lob pass which can be helpful for passing from the middle to the flank (just make sure no defenders are in the way). Try playing around with this stuff in practice mode; it can help open up your offense and get away from a 'point A to B to C' attack.

As for defense, I notice you don't list the teammate contain button (ie, second defender pressure in previous years). By default it's on RB, which can be awkward since we often need to use sprint on RT. What I did after playing a few games of the demo was remap the defensive buttons (although I prefer the alternate controls which flip the use of X/B):

LT: Jockey
LB: Player Switch
RT: Sprint
RB: User Contain
Y: Call Keeper
B: Teammate Contain
X: Slide Tackle
A: Standing Tackle

This allows me to call my teammates to contain the ball while I can sprint if I needed to cover a runner or get into position. I rarely use the user auto-contain feature, as I also prefer to play "manual defense" using the jockey commands. With the default controls, I found it very difficult to make use of the teammate contain command. While it doesn't make them go in for the tackle like the old 2nd defender pressure system did, it does come in handy when the user wants/needs to control someone away from the ball.
