There's way too much delay on passing. I swear on a lot these passes a half second goes by before they then telegraph who they're passing to.....then pass the ball.

Ok, so it isn't just me. I only played the demo twice and it happened on both occasions. What are the chances ?? I just really wanted to see the intro in HD on my tv.

Wow, I assumed you were being sarcastic at first. But with your later posts it's clear you're being serious.

One word: Awesome.

It didn't hit me right away, but a few games in I was flawed. This is what I noticed:

You actually have to think now when you play the computer. They will find the open man, try moves on you and keep you guessing. There is nothing like watching Los Heat take advantage of my panic and hit a wide open shot because I left someone unguarded. Or, when they pump and pass fake you out of the way. They seems so smart this year. Plus, star players seem to shine.

This game is like a zen koan. It is both easier and harder. It's easier in that if you stick to real basketball, you are rewarded. I made many shots that last year I would not have made due to CPU cheese. It's harder because the CPU is actually smarter about preventing you from getting into a good position to make a shot. So, I still ended up loosing - but did not feel cheated.

OMG the fast break. It seems so close to being possible on higher levels this year. I am so excited because I think the retail build will be awesome regarding fast breaks. Even in the demo I did not feel the CPU carrying me out of position or slowing me down on the break.

The only concern I have is that I am concerned that my CPU controlled teammates were able to keep up with Lebron and Wade even when they were pulling off serious moves. I am not sure, but I think Lebron or Wade should be able to blow by Chandler with a few moves. Hopefully the final build addresses this potential issue.

Again: awesome.

Just played the demo again and saw something new. I attempted an alley to Rudy he was a little to far off. As he attempted to jump for it he caught the ball on the way down instead of trying to finish. I was like OMG 2k you really have a special game this year.

man...dunks are REALLY rare now...you really have to be wide open to pull off a dunk...in 2k11, if you held down turbo, you would get a dunk animation not matter what...now your player has to have proper momentum and positioning to do a dunk animation...i'm finding myself appreciating layups again...seeing 2k12 reminds me that players don't dunk every time they get the ball near the hoop...if your momentum is just slightly off, you will do a layup instead of a dunk...i like this. Players who don't dunk much in real life don't dunk in the game...I've gotten the ball to Dirk right near the hoop a lot of times, and 90 percent of the time he will just lay it in...no more excessive dunking from the "non-dunkers" of the league.

also...the contact is much better this year. it seems the days of players launching right through and over defenders for no-contact dunks and layups are over...if there is a defender in his way, he's going to slam into him and his progress will be stopped every time...realistic physics..that's what i like. the biggest reason for all of this is because you can now bump players in the "gather" portion of the animation...so once they start to gather, they are no longer guaranteed to complete the animation.

the CPU plays so much like a human it's ridiculous...they are pump-faking me out of my shoes left and right...they always get me in the air and then jump into me to draw shooting fouls...the amount of moves the CPU now utilizes is insane...they fake you out constantly. it's like playing against a human who is an expert at the game...with this great AI, it may be hard for me to play against a real person...the CPU is smarter and better than most human opponents...that says something about how good 2k12's AI is, and about how "lacking" many human players are (using the same moves over and over, no strategy, etc.).

every year 2k makes cheesing harder and harder to do...every year someone says it, but this game looks like it will be nearly cheese-proof.

it also looks like this will be the first year you REALLY have to run plays to get good shots...the CPU's defense is so much better now that running a "freelance" offense isn't going to be very effective. The CPU defenders stay close to off-ball palyers and rarely let anyone cut to the hoop. you're going to have to set screens to get openings.

lead passing just plain can't be abused anymore...the CPU will tip the ball EVERY TIME if it's within reach. you can no longer pass right over a defender's head...now he will tip it or steal it. people complained about the CPU tipping too many passes last year..well those people are going to have problems, because it tips even more passes now... you have to be REALLY careful with your passes.

That was in last year as well. It's incredible the game is deep enough that people don't see all these new animations.

I bet people don't know you can shoot from the floor.

Just shot a end to end full court shot with Tyson Chandler. It was well after the buzzer...

But it went in.

Most hilarious thing ever. If you do that in game, it'd be sweet if the commentators would say something like "Too bad that doesn't count."

I knew about this but its rare like a fumbled dunk attempt. Player mistiming his jump and it turns into a failed dunk. Its a nice animation.

PS3's loading time for a demo is kind of looong compared to the 360. As people mentioned the colors are more washed out and the audio to me just seems louder in the wrong areas, hence that annoying "wooooooooooo" guy. The "wooooo" gus is on the 360 but he's more tolerable.

Now I'm thinking of getting PS3 version to...Magic on PS3 and Bird for 360...

It's pretty awesome.

I love how when I drive into the paint, I'm not warping into other players, and those players aren't glide across the paint to prevent me from getting to the basket.

man the only thing i hate about this game is the moral issue that 2k has actually kidnapped dirk nowitzki and turned him into an animated object..lockout yeah right.. 2k is kidnapping all the players...kinda like a space jam part 2..

What In The Sam Hill!!!!! Third time playing and I switch off LBJ to play D Wade, he makes a quick fake to the right drives left down the lay and DUNKS over Chandler with two hands!!!!. What's so great about the animation is that the only thing Chandler could do was extend his hands as to keep from being dunked on. Haha , yes this is what I'm talkin about !!! I can't wait to play the retail version.

Wasn't blown away one the 1st play through, but on subsequent games I noticed more and more changes. Love the collision system and post game. I could definitely see people over faking just because they can. Is it just me or the the ball handling/movement feel more like nba lives outstanding system? Things I didn't like: too many blocks on defense. Felt like I broke up way more shots than I should have with players I had no business doing it with. Defense in general was good though. The shuffle steps will take my already nasty d to the next level.

Ok someone earlier posted about the little TNT ads in the corner...I just saw LBJ and Dirk in the corner for a promo for the game release . Presentation!!! You just got to love it

My impressions

This is the best representation of a sport I have ever seen. The AI use of moves fakes and ball movement is so sick. I have never said wow so many times after playing a demo before and this is not even the retail copy. Once you unlearn what you tried to master in 2k11 and learn some of the moves the game just opens up. What I like is the random play I experience nothing feels scripted ,a very dynamic gameplay. On the surface it looks like 2k11 but once you start playing, the game takes it to another level. I can't wait to see other teams in action

Man .... the demo looks great

# 839 m-dogg @ 09/21/11 12:13 PM
maybe the best game I've ever played. not sports, any game.

the new animation system changes everything, total control at all times. no more getting sucked into weird two man animations when driving. now 2k shows you that you are forcing a bad shot by the defense making contact and altering your shot. blocks are better, boxing out is awesome and more realistc. love the use of hands while playing defense. this is hoops nirvana.

if only i could change difficulty, pro is just too easy. miami should be challenging to beat. although it is fun to beat up on a team i despise. cant wait for retail and the added commentary, etc.

if only 2k college hoops still existed...sigh...

The graphics have stepped up and stand out now on the PS3 version. The smooth game play is welcomed. I still have to practice some more with isomotion. I kept doing behind the back dribbles when i did not want to.

Im noticing more foul calls and blocked shots in the paint compared to 2k11. The perimeter defense im not sure on that yet untill i play a head to head match up with a human player.

One of things im very happy about and grateful for is there is no hop step button assigned directly to a button. I hope there is no alternate control configuration that will allow anyone to map it to a button. I like how it can be done within the flow of the game rather then intentionally anytime someone wanted to.

Chris bosh looking like plaxico burress or jamal mashburn lol For the most part the other players i have seen have recognizable character face models.
