1. Does the CPU still play everything up to the strikers?
2. Has anyone experienced a CPU midfielder shooting from distance?
3 Does the CPU pass backwards and laterally to probe the defense?
Answers:
1. Most of the time yes
2. Nope, I always see the CPU run on the wings for the cross or, run on the wings then run to the middle to make a short pass in the middle for the score.
3. nope, always forward. at least for what I have seen so far.
The more I play this game the more I realize how great it is going to be. I am just shocked how good it is. It gives me the same feeling when I played the NBA 2kK demo. You can just tell when greatness is upon us!!!
Finally got home and played a few games. I'm enjoying it thus far.
I have a question though that I haven't seen addressed (or if it was, I missed it): when you shoot the ball, it doesn't seem to "take off" of the foot like in 11, or is it just me? I enjoy the shots needing more power. I'm also playing on manual shooting, so I don't know if that has an effect on it or not.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. The ball is much heavier. Manual shooting is kicking my butt, so far. I have problems in the arena hitting shots on target consistently. Might have to go with Semi, until I get the feel. My biggest gripe is how hard it is to push the ball up the wings, they really seem to have killed that for 12. And this is with some speedy guys. The defenders seem to automatically be able to beat you back. I've been seriously working the 1-2 passes and timing my through balls more. That seems to be how you have to score with '12. Oh well, it beats all of the "sprint the wings and cross" that has been my bread and butter for the last three years! I might have to actually create a real goal! LOL!

I think there is a slider for shots and passes strength or something like that. The question now is, will the sliders work?
I was just reading the EA forums and the ability to play as GK will be in online ranked matches.
Seems odd? EA did all this work with "tactical defending" to make people actually play instead of abusing the AI take-over. Now they go and add a button that lets anybody just switch to GK so the AI do all the defending?
For those who are loving the game and raving about it...
How can you say that?
The CPU won't shoot from distance with players who should shoot from distance.
The CPU doesn't play the ball backwards to slow things down and attempt to probe.
Every team plays the same way.
I want Barca to make me crazy with numerous passes in the midfield, to include many that go backwards. But, they play no differently than any other team.

Its pretty, yes. But, its not soccer.
I'm not sure if you saw may response to you in previous page, but I am not having fun at all. Sure the game is beautiful with really nice animations, but I just don't see a soccer simulation in FIFA. I played it multiple times, to try to like the game, but I can't. All CPU teams I play are very predictable. Usually, when they have the possession, I just defend the wings to force them to build up in the middle. Next thing you know, my prediction was right, they go to the wings and build up there. Almost, forcing the issue.
In PES, when the CPU noticed you are defending the wings, they will make plays in the middle. They know how to make adjustments on the fly. Not really sure if some people here can see what I am seeing.
Having played the game a lot more over the last couple of days, I'm finally seeing it for what it is, and that is a damn good game of football. I still wouldn't say it's as flat out exciting, as tactically accurate or as deep as Pro Evo, but as an entire package I think EA have done a great job.
I have also realised that if the AI is passing at 90% accuracy, it's because we are letting them, not because it's a bad game. If you defend well, then you will get more possession over time I've adjusted my play a fair bit both offensively and defensively and it's produced results. I also scored a beautiful goal with Sergio Aguero which was awesome.
I think the key thing for this game is for it to differentiate between the quality of a lower league team and a top European side. On previous games EA have struggled with replicating that so we'll see how that is when the full game comes out next week!

You can definitely intercept some passes in FIFA if you play enough good defense, but to me personally, when I say 90% accurate, it means 90% of CPU passes are right straight to receiving player. I was hoping for more errant passes, maybe some wide passes, and take more chances using volley passes in the middle. CPU, simply won't do that in FIFA.
I think that's why some of us here are not getting the "Soccer" feeling...
Very excited for this. Tone down the impact engine 5 notches, aka the max Payne simulator. Work in some ai back passes and distance shots and we have an **** one here.
Oh yeah, I did see your answers and they were very helpful because I haven't seen anything resembling soccer in FIFA and I thought I was crazy.
Even now, not a single person has said the CPU plays the ball backwards or shoots from distance with the top midfielders.
If I face Lampard, Gerrard, Ballack, Essien, etc., I want to see screamers from distance. That will not happen in FIFA.
My Lord, can you imagine playing against the Dutch and Sniejder never shooting from distance. That's a joke. It's like playing Madden and facing the Patriots and Brady never throws.
If I face Barca, I want to feel what ManU felt when Barca beat them 3-0, the absolute agony of a slow death because they play keep away in the midfield and you never know from where will they go forward.
So, other than the "this game is great" or the "this is really a step forward" comments, I want to hear from one person who can say that the teams play strategically with proper build up.
Every game I've played is the same despite the opponent. It's like there is a prize for the CPU getting the ball to the strikers as fast as they possibly can.

still not really feeling it this year. I have resorted to dumbing down to semi-pro (from world class on fifa 11) and will be using legacy defending, because tactical defending is just too gimicky, IMO. The possession is still favoring my opponent most of the time and I been using Barca. Maybe if the games were longer things would be different
That said, I am seeing some potential for this game to be "fun" but not exactly true to football. I will buy it like I do every year, but the other game will be my game of choice again.
I cant believe people are saying that this game doesnt feel like true soccer. Are these simply soccer fans or actual players in real life?
This game is spectacular. It's only 3 mins and only has 6 teams, but each team plays so different it's not funny.
Tactical defending is amazing. Is it different, yup, but in a good way. Before you could use the R-Stick to go shoulder to shoulder, but now you can do that, plus tug on opponent's shirts to slow them down, etc.
I think the problem is most people play with automatic controls and things such as auto switching on, but believe me, if you learn to play on manual the game definitely responds better.
I used to be a HUGE PES guy and even got an infraction years ago for talking down FIFA, but pes has been a joke since PES 6, imo and it pains me to say that cause i HATE EA! lol
I like some things about PES, but it still feels as though the game isnt very fluid and it's hard to get the ball to go as fast as you want, to whome you want, etc.... whereas FIFA's ball has its own physics so it works sooo well, imo.
I wish Seabass got fired from PES and these two games joined today and take each game's best qualities and form SUPER-SOCCER muahaha
Here's a question. Been arguing a with a pal who says that the L1 or LB button forces your teammates to make runs, and that that was the case in FIFA11, too.
I was ranked highly in FIFA11 online but never knew or used this, so my question is, is this true?
