1. Thank God for Season Pass.
Tell me about it, man. I can't get a good feel for the quality of the gameplay from the demo, so Season Ticket will be a great opportunity to find out what it's all about. Unlike the NHL12 early release where it was all OTP with my team, I'm going to attempt to focus on offline play and maybe a little 1v1 for the majority of the time. Hard to believe it's only a week away.

This will end up being the best sports game of all time.

I'm starting to get the hang of the tackle button but it's still really hard to try to tackle the CPU. They stop, spin, and turn in a heartbeat. It should be tough to take the ball off certain players but when I'm down 0-1 in the 75th the CPU can just pass it around and I can't get close. I think head to head games are going to be really high scoring if everything stays as is.

I really wish EA would rethink how they put out the FIFA demo. For one the time limit is way to short. You can't get any sort of feel for how the AI or pace will be. Secondly, team selection is poor. You've got Barcelona, Arsenal, and Dortmund that have very similar styles. AC Milan and Citeh are similar although Citeh is starting to become more free flowing. Then you have Marseille who play slower. I would love to see a club like Stoke or Napoli/Udinese that play a unique brand of footy. I would also like to see a poor club. Give us a championship side to see if we can tell the difference between a Barca and say a Nottingham Forest. When you select your favorite club they let you see how they differ in terms of tactics but they are nearly identical for all the clubs.

Also, shooting on angles is still a little too easy and it's further compounded with the finesse shots. I think the keepers need to do a better job of closing down those angles.

One thing that has delighted me is I have seen a couple CPU clearances where they couldn't deal with a ball and were forced to either boot it out of play or hoof it down the pitch. A welcome addition IMO. I also love the freedom on headers. I feel like the player movement and impact engine is at it's best then. I've climbed on people's backs, seen elbows to the back, and felt like I've stolen headers from bigger players. One little thing I have always liked in FIFA compared to the other game is when there is an advantage the little yellow icon comes up. Sometimes in the other game the ref is out of the picture and without commentary you can't tell if there's a foul. Crowd and commentary are top notch too.

I haven't gotten to play the demo yet, but I am hoping that the ability to manually control the GK will combat this a little bit, especially in an online game.

You can do it in the demo. I think you have to hit select.

This where the CTT need and sliders hopefully will help. This game has always been a game where, for the most part if you want something done you need to do it yourself. If you can increase the Pressure slider and it works (it never has) your teammates should be all over the CPU.

Unfortunately, they eliminated the second defender press button this year, which helped your passive teammates press the CPU in the final quarter of a game in which you are losing.

Maybe the stop, turn, and all of the other unrealistic moves the CPU has been making for years can be toned down with sliders.

Just played my first game on the demo..

and all I have to say is im actually amazed.

I havent played Fifa since Fifa 10 (skipped last years), but wow, this game is unreal.

I'm baffled as to how some people can actually complain about it in this thread. No build up play/back passes by the CPU? I saw TONS of it, in just one game I played. I didnt even see the CPU take that many crosses at all. The gameplay build up looked like actual soccer. It was fantastic.

Im seriously stunned. I expected so much worse reading this thread, and im honestly amazed.

The only thing I didnt like was the tackling collisions, which look really awkward/sped up to me. Im gonna play a few more games to see if this is a persistent problem, but it wasnt great on first sight.

I'm also playing on slow, which in my opinion has been the only way to play Fifa for years. Its awesome.

Right, I knew it was in there, I was just saying that since finesse shots are rarely seen in online clubs against a human goalie, the ability to control the goalie in a 1v1 match will hopefully have the same effect on finesse shots.

Couldn't agree more. This thread isn't a very accurate portrayal of the game, IMO. Compared to last year this is a fantastic game of footy. Great flow to the game, passing seems to have more weight to it, the crosses seems to have more weight, the tackling is improved, the defense is greatly improved. No more can the lack of skill players just hold B the entire game.

The comparisons to the "other" game and the "other" games AI is kind of baffling to me. Sort of a stretch to say it's AI is far ahead of FIFA12. But to each their own.

Right so I got the demo and played the hell out of it. I loved it!

I think this iteration has been the most progressive since FIFA08.

The dribbling, the collision, the new camera, commentary all feel fantastic. I love how the AI is also so consistent.

Mind you I am also a huge fan of the other game but I am getting both as always and it's gonna be a terrific year for us futbol fans!

One question, what's this new defending system? I did the tutorial but icant seem to use it! It's like there is a wall between the striker and I!

So I switched to the legacy system but what's an easy way to learn this new system? I see a lot of potential in it so I'd love to hear your thughts.

Just downloaded the PS3 demo and I must say, WOW! If the full game is even better, I may have to play two footy games this year.

Passing feels natural. The AI doesn't just press 100% of the time; they actually give you space and challenge when appropriate.

I'm still getting the hang of the new defensive system but with a few more games, I can definitely see its advantages. Having the option of actually initiating a standing tackle is huge and rewards a skilled player. The jostling system doesn't feel cheap either. Just because you press square or x near the man you're marking isn't an automatic "I've caught up to you, I'm getting the ball situation."

I'm impressed that FIFA is taking a step forward this year.

Now, to try the PES demo...

Gotta just get used to it man, I scored many goals in fifa11 and rarely lost on world cup but now im getting my *** kicked(or was) until i have finally found some rhythm to it and now i can contain more...although the keepers seem a little slow to react this year.

# 233 Lubey @ 09/17/11 11:16 AM
Slowly getting used to it. Last game I had was 10, and I could win on Legendary just because the AI was so predictable. Not anymore! I actually have to use touches to try and create space to get a shot off. Struggling on Professional now.

At first I had problems with the passing, but I've started to get used to it. I think I just sort of had to reconfigure myself.

VERY IMPRESSED with the demo, cannot wait until 9/27.

I finally got a chance to play the game extensively so know I can make intelligent comments.

1. I love tactical defending. I don't mind if the computer can pass the ball around the box.

2. The computer is ruthless when finishing I love that part too.

3. I think it has a more organic flow to the game this year.

4. The computer is actually building up this year as compare to 11

5. The part I have the most is I feel like I actually have time to survey the pitch and make a decision as compared to last year.

6. Lastly, people have complained about the lack of pressure in the final third, but I don't see it that way. It actually allows you to score some goals this year that are not breakaways.

I too will be getting both games this year. Money already saved up.

After playing some more, I decided to go ahead and pre-order. I am really enjoying the game. I definitely noticed differences in the styles between CPU opponents. Using Dortmund against OM and Arsenal, both squads did different things with the ball.

I also find the game much harder than before. Three quick games resulted in scores of 1-0, 0-0, and 0-1. In previous iterations I could score almost at will. This is a much better and more realistic experience. The collision system could use some refinement still, as others have said, but overall it is really an enjoyable experience.

I can't wait until the 27th! I'm getting it through Amazon--I just wish I had ordered earlier. They dropped the credit from $20 to $10, but at least I can still grab a Union fathead.

I'm absolutely crazy about the demo, and can't wait for the full release. It definitely has more of a learning curve than the others, which is great imo. It'll be interesting to see people defend without holding down buttons. I also feel like the game rewards more realistic play. For instance, I have more success in defense by continuing to mark the defender while dropping back, waiting for that slightly errant touch to make a standing tackle and counterattack. On offense too, I feel that passing moves are well rewarded, and the ability to actually pass the ball (or dribble the ball) in and around the box looking for the best opportunity is awesome.

One thing has me a bit nervous though, and that's the impact engine. There have been a couple times when I have made skill moves in the penalty box and have gotten a penalty even though my player barely got nicked and made an over dramatic fall. I know it happens in the real game to an extent, and maybe this is their way of introducing that, but it feels a little much at times with the falls. Furthermore, I'm hoping it won't affect close games due to an errant collision causing a FK/penalty.

the game is very good. great ball and player physics. Alot of strategy and skill involved if you want to even get on-goal shots against the cpu on the harder difficulties. All in all, great game and i will be purchasing this right after i get 2k12 lol

qft. That reason alone is enough for me to actually not buy this game. FIFA has always just been a placeholder for me until FM comes out. But this year I don't know if I'm going to spend my $50 for a game I'll play for a month and watch my CPU teammates stand around w/ their dicks in their hands.

I usually love the soundtrack though...

# 240 slthree @ 09/17/11 08:18 PM
1. Does the CPU still play everything up to the strikers?
2. Has anyone experienced a CPU midfielder shooting from distance?
3 Does the CPU pass backwards and laterally to probe the defense?
