The Madden NFL 12 demo is available now. Please play a few games and post your impressions here. For now, just search under "M" in the demos section or games section. It weights in at 1.53 GB.
Clutch mode seems to be working. Woodson just turned into a beast in my game and basically took out every receiver on his side of the field in the last two minutes of the game.
However, something is definitely wrong about the deep zones as defensive backs are way too passive. I had the Packers complete a 60-something yard pass to Jordy Nelson, who was surrounded by two passive defenders. The receiver stood and awaited the pass, while my defenders waited even more patiently for him to catch it, so they could tackle him - this needs to be fixed as this issue was also in some of the videos that were released after e3.
I for one don't like using the D-Pad for the pre-snap adjustments. I feel that pressing actual buttons are much quicker and easier, but I guess I'll have to get used to it. Also, im not a big fan of the new kicking meter. Other than that the game plays pretty well
1. Madden still has the dumb camera shot when a team is leaving the huddle and walking to the line of scrimmage. I HATE HATE HATE having to hit a button every single play of the game to get them to the LOS at a normal speed and not slow motion. In year's past, this could not be turned off and it looks like it won't be turned off this year either. LAME.
2. Audibles. Why have a different audible system than NCAA? I HATE Madden's audibles. In NCAA and previous versions of Madden (before last year), it was quick and easy to show blitz or change a play but that is not the case in Madden anymore.
Both of these issues are deal breakers for me and I will NOT be purchasing Madden this year. I will play NCAA much more.
so far my biggest gripe is players still let go of the block as soon as you get there, or if you wanna call it defenders shedding the block, it always happens as soon as your coming up on them with the ball carrier.
The real question -- can you actually throw on this game as compared to NCAA?
Yep, super LBs are gone. The trajectory of intermediate passes have more of an arch, and you can throw it over the LB and it will get to the receiver before the safety can break it up. In NCAA you pretty much have to have a lane.
First post here, and sorry if this has already been mentioned/asked; but, is anyone else not getting any commentary? Their are no announcers for me and even the refs don't speak, just move their lips, when there is a penalty.

Is it just me or did the game get harder? loving it so far..
Absolutely seems harder than Madden 11 (I've been playing 11 nonstop the past week or so).
What are the overtime rules in the NFL now? lol I just let the Bears tie it up to see what would happen, and then in OT, the Bears kicked a field goal. I then went down the field and tied it with a field goal. Then the time ran out in OT with the Bears getting stopped at the 12 yardline, and all of sudden it puts another 5 minutes on the board and the Bears have it at my 12. They kick a field goal. Game over.
OMG some im the Bears, Packers drove down with less then a min left in 1st half, they at like the 5 yard line, and Rodgers throws it up to Jennings, and he barley out jumps tillman for the catch an TD, nice ark on the pass, look like a real life jump ball, im loving this game, I know it was bad for me but it was great to see that.
Cant say the demo and is better or worse than m11...New animations, a different feel to the game, and I think less arcadey. Seems you wont be able to zig zag your way against the dumb cpu AI in m12, but we'll see..
Still this issue needs to be addressed and this has been in every madden game with no fix. It is the ability to throw the ball at any point in time and your receiver will adjust...
If you call a streak, you shouldnt be able to throw the ball right away after the snap, the route is a streak downfield. You shouldnt be able to throw the ball to a WR when his route is a circle route before he is turning...He shouldnt even turn around because he hasnt finished his route. There needs to be an implementation of route running awareness for receivers and the receivers have to finish their route...
Graphics look great except when you are actually playing the game.
Camera is to far back! Why no custom camera ????
Lighting ? Oh this year is the dark year I see... just seemed to dark for me.
I don't see smooth tackles at all, every hit seems to powerful and there is that little screen shake they do to make it look like a hard hit, I don't see that on Sundays.
CPU caught long bombs while draped in double coverage way to often. I hit jump and my db doesn't jump.
My running back performs moves that I'm not doing!!! Stiff arm on his own etc..
New fancy camera angles... WAY OVERRATED imo.
I don't like the cpu picking special teams for me on 4th down and I don't like that when I get the ball back my playbook is still in special teams.
Can't hear the ref speaking.
Overall I felt BORED while playing. I prefer NCAA over Madden 12 but NCAA is pretty boring now also.
I wasn't getting Madden anyway due to online franchise not being finished and this demo did nothing to convince me otherwise.
Sorry Madden lovers but that's just how I feel.
Have fun with the game.. Peace.
Great job Michael young on the graphical side and camera influence this year!
I love all of the new camera angles when it comes to the presentation of the game, no doubt about that.
But the camera to actually PLAY the game.....not so much. It just feels like it's too far back, and especially for running plays. I'm hoping the final version has the ability to have a camera view that's closer to NCAA as that seems to work well for me.
On a Hail Mary I just pulled off a Mike Thomas with Devin Hester with 7 seconds remaining. Still lost 17-7, but awesome to see it pulled off!!! Would have been perfect with Gus announcing it!! haha
A few other odd things I noticed:
- As people said, there is no blocking when CPU or AI returns punts
- No volume when ref announces penalties
- When it shows player of game, it said my player had 3 tackles and 1 sack, but didn't mention the 2 Forced Fumbles he had. Weird!
