The Madden NFL 12 demo is available now. Please play a few games and post your impressions here. For now, just search under "M" in the demos section or games section. It weights in at 1.53 GB.
I like how defensive lineman/OLBs are quick to react as soon as the ball as snapped compared to previous years where they look like they run out of quick sand when the play starts.
I went back and played some 2K5 the other day just to see how things compared and I have to say, I think Madden may have surpassed it this year for me. Now, I should point out I haven't played 2K5 for quite some time so I'd forgotten a lot of the controls and things like that which didn't help but just the overall look of things is so much better in Madden now and the gameplay is pretty much there too I think.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Madden doesn't have it's issues, but I think it's time to stop comparing it to an old game that was great in it's time but is no longer relevant. As long as the retail version is better than the demo and not worse then I think we have the best American Football game ever. It's not perfect by a long way, but I do think it's got potential to be one of the best we've had.
I'll probably hate it 2 weeks after it's out won't I? Haha!
IMO this demo is crap! They move to damn fast. The last game I played A. Rodgers sprinted fast as hell up the middle broke a DL arm tackle, trucked Urlacker & scored a 20 yrd run. BS! I still will buy it though hoping the retail version will be better.

Just popped in Madden 10, for comparison's sake, the last Madden game I played, which I liked very much.
Two things that immediately struck me:
--The running animations in Madden 10 look very clunky (on very slow speed) compared to 12's demo, which has real nice fluid running animations. This also gives the players in Madden 10 a more "weighted'' feel to them than the 12 demo, but I'll take the more fluid animations over weight.
--Very slow on Madden 10 seems much slower than very slow on 12's demo. But I think the very slow speed on 12's demo is ideal, though that's a personal preference.
Just been playing on All Madden (Speed Extra Slow - Min Speed 25) and here are some of my impressions.
QB's are amazing runners, They're Fast and break tackles. I've had to have a QB spy on Rodgers.
There's no space between the LB/Safeties, All of the LB's knock down everything and if you try to put some touch on it, the ball goes towards the safeties.
CPU has a good running game.
Way too many Hit Stick hits instead of Wrap Ups. But I love all the different tackling animations and I really feel physical momentum.
The fade routes look sick I've had Finley/Jennings Catch fades in the end zones, and seen a few really cool animations.
Overall a really fun game, and with the Franchise Additions, I'm really excited for the game.
I think for ball carriers...foot planting is there--somewhat.
I tried some power O runs to the right...and then had the line block right as well....so the play is designed to flow right.....but as the play develops I wanted to see what would happen when I cutback hard to the left with the RB.....to my amazement the RB did NOT swivel or pivot but rather a footplant animation was used to show rapid change of direction.....this reminded me more of 2k5 than of 2k8...perhaps a little more subtle than even 2k5.
I also notice that receivers when they go into/out of cuts..they do display their strides narrowing to show perceived momentum
Just watched a great CPU vs. CPU game. The game was close the entire time. It was 3-3 tie, after the 3rd Quarter. Aaron Rodgers Clutch mustve turned on because he got HOT. THe 1st drive for Packers in the 4th Q went for a TD, up 10-3. The Bears drove down the field and scored a TD and tied the game 10-10 with .38 secs left. Packers had to drive the entire field and for a FG with 2 TOs. Aaron Rodgers made great throws. He drove them to the 33 yard line with 5 Secs left and Crosby hit the GW FG with .01 Sec left. On the kickoff, Packers Squib Kick it went out of bounds, but the returner touched the ball before it went of of bounds. They went for Hail Mary and the ball was knocked down.
It was a great CPU vs. CPU. The Clutch Trait really affects the game. Once the 4th Q starter, Aaron Rodgers really turned it on
I finally downloaded the demo...and now I am going to buy the game I think. I really like the strides they are making with the game. It is FAR from perfect but I liked it. I like the new presentation and the game feels tighter to me this year than last year. Gamestop here I come next Tuesday!
I returned a kickoff for a TD with the Bears (Knox, I think?), which was cool to see. I played on All-Pro with Slow gamespeed and 40 threshold. I felt like the game was very smooth on these settings and I had a nice back-and-forth game against the Packers.
I deleted the demo after this game, as I've seen all I need to from it to know that I will enjoy the retail version.
