After playing the demo, I love what Madden 12 is. The passing, running, etc. The only major gripe I have is the pre-snap scenes. I know why they're there, but I'm not a fan of them. What's irritating to me is that I have to press A to get past the scene and just view the LoS, but this makes my players rush to the line. I don't want them rushing, persay.

I'm happy to say that my pre-order is justified.

Edit: Rodgers looks like he's ready to kill someone.

Also, is it me, or am I missing commentary? (j/k)

I'm no madden fanboy, I hated last years game, and I want 2k football to come back too, I like that game, and I hate EA. But 2k5 came out long ago, guys. Move on. It came out in 2004. It's 2011 now. While I hate the idea of Madden being the single football game available, It's what we've got, and we've got learn to live with it. Again, I don't wanna be rude, but people are just nitpicking the hell out of Madden 12! It's a good football game! Learn to live with it guys, until 2k comes back. And when it does, I'm kissing madden goodbye.
You and me are the same.

I will say this. I have literally hated any EA football game this entire generation. I didn't care much for it last generation. I have only purchased 3 Ea football games this gen including the recent crappy NCAA 12.

With all that said.. This is the only football demo that I have played multiple times and can't wait to play more. I will still rent it first just to see how the online randoms play. But so far damn! It's like there is a whole new team behind the game.

One of the biggest differences is that I feel I am getting beat and beating my opponents with football. When I blitz it actually works when called at the right times. When I called bad coverage, Rodgers threw it to the rightfully open man. When I called cover 2, as a safety Rodgers made me choose between the post and the fly route. I chose the post and he threw the fly for the TD.

I am seriously loving the game. I couldnt be more happy because I swore off Ea due to NCAA 12.

Will still rent first to make sure but from what Ive seen, it will be really hard for me to stay away from this one. Great game so far.

After playing a few games in the demo, I can safely say that this is BY FAR the best Madden I've ever played.

There are, of course, a few things I think need to be changed. However, most of these are completely aesthetic changes, which is the first time I can ever say that about a Madden game.

Basically the changes I see that should be made are as follows:

The camera angle on kickoffs - even though you can hit RT to get rid of it.

The camera angle after a play is chosen - it should cut straight to the classic view like NCAA 12.

The kick meter - I honestly hate both the look and functionality of this new (recycled) feature. I think they should put in the kick meter used in NCAA 12, and possibly alter the left-right sensitivity to increase the possibility of missed kicks.

Spin on the football - This one baffles me. The ball will spin one way, then the other, then stop spinning, or just not spin at all. How hard can this one be to fix? Make the ball spin to the right for right-handed throws, and left for left-handed throws.

The controls - Change the controls to be the same as NCAA 12, or at least make them customizable. I want to be able to use the RS to pump fake, RB to throw the ball away, and the ability to use RT/R2 passing again.

Finally, and the biggest one in my opinion, is the defensive/offensive playmaker controls. NCAA 12 has these PERFECT, and if Madden were to just copy those controls over, it would be perfect. One thing I would add though is that using the left or right analog to playmaker a defender would NOT make them move or try to jump the snap like it does in NCAA 12.

Look close at the lines both offense and defense when a play is chosen. The defense line hunch their backs and walk all funny to the line and the center actually does the correct animation. Why is that? It looks so 1990's.

First Impression:
WOW. The very first stadium shot looked amazing. I'm hoping they put in variety in these so they don't become stale. (I did see different shots in different games). I also really liked that the camera angles in the pre-game were different in one of my games. Good to see variety. I played Madden 10 to death and skipped Madden 11 cause of franchise mode. I'm also a pretty big 2k5 fan, but I have to admit that Madden 10 did beat out 2k5 in some aspects (not franchise). Back on subject, I really hope this Madden will be the one that will make people stop comparing to 2k5. This demo further proved that this year will be a good one. Anyway, here's my impressions from 4 games:
Pros:
-Amazing graphics
-Crowd seems to be in the game
-Running game is pretty good (feels like NCAA 11 when running)
-Helmet degradation was a nice surprise for me.
-First game I played, pro was pretty difficult but as I got used to it I got better. All-Pro is still pretty challenging.
-3D grass looks nice
-New tackle animations are refreshing.
-I LOVE the scoreboard. Looks great.
-Little thing I found to be really cool: I scored a pick 6 with Woodson, and he did the Heisman pose. Not sure if this was included in previous games, but for me it was cool to see.
-It looks like they tried hard to remove the suction/warping. I replayed a corner TD and as Jennings went up to grab the TD there was no warping and player force fields were respected. As he came down though, Jennings hands went through the bears helmet.

Cons:
-I clearly got a 1st down but the game did not acknowledge it.
-Not sure if this is really a con, maybe intentionally put in, but as Jennings went to grab a sideline grab it looked like a force field prevented him from stepping out (good gain for me but it felt forced)
-Tackle intensity is a TAD too high. I can't say enough how refreshing the animations looked (Again, haven't really played 11). However, there is a tad too many big hits, which really isn't a big deal for me at all. Personally it makes the game less boring.
-Game speed is a tad high for my taste, but again no big deal at all with the online communities (great idea BTW)
-DPP didn't affect players that much other than making Cutler run more. However, this could be a good thing. I'd rather the effects be subtle than overdone.
-Punt returns, same problem for awhile
-CPU playcalling needs a bit of adjusting but they couldn't include everything! Hopefully next year they can really focus on that and commentary.

This Madden could be the one for me that finally overtakes Madden 2005 for the best Madden. Will be spending hours upon hours in franchise. Overall, a fantastic demo.

Game feels completely fresh to me...players have weight, momentum and you actually FEEL like you are controlling a CPU-character in football pads.

*sigh* Why does Matt Forte break every tackle like hes marshawn lynch in beast mode?
Why does Brian Urlacher catch Greg Jennings in the open field when Jennings had a ten yard head start?

For those of you who still have a copy of the NFC championship game go back and watch it now. You will have flashbacks of Madden 12 almost constantly with all these camera angles. This is crazy how much Madden 12 and the NFC championship look a like. THAT is the sign of a good sports game.

I have a feeling this is going to happen to people all year as they watch football it will remind them of something in Madden 12.

Sliders and difficulty? I always turn the speed differential to zero.

Havent seen either of these yet, and I have played over ten games, half with All Pro and half with All Madden.

All Madden with default sliders.... I figured out the problem though, I had the auto sprint off but forgot and I started a new game and Forte went back to normal. I guess it was just one of those games...

I think the demo is very good. I didn't play Madden 10 much at all, because frankly I didnt think it was all that fun but this seems much different. Here's my thoughts:

PROS

-graphics are great
-crowd noise vastly better than NCAA
-blocking field goals is now possible, I did it!
-love the introductions
-love the cut scenes
-love the cameras changing
-field looks very good, much better than NCAA
-receivers fight for the ball better than NCAA
-nice to not be pancaked all the time when I'm a DL
-punting works much better than NCAA
-I really like the Dynamic Player Performance, its going to change how the game plays a lot IMO

CONS

-graphics are great but I still think the colors are too saturated
-crowd noise may be better than NCAA but still a lot of room for improvement
-some of the sound effects are really weird, what's with all the whooshes a d weird sounds?
-still see too many bat downs of balls just like NCAA

All in all I'd give it a solid B+, maybe I will actually play Madden a decent amount this year. Last year I think I maybe played about 20 games. Very pleasantly surprised. I didn't care much for the NCAA demo and the game ended up being much better. I like this demo so hopefully the actual game will be even better!

One thing that actually has come up in all of my games is that people on the outside dont block on punts sometimes and the defender just sprints by.

Only thing I really want to say is I like a lot of the WR cuts I'm seeing on routes. Seeing a lot of things I haven't really seen before there.

One thing ive notcied that is ALOT better than NCAA is the sounds of the tackles. It sounds so much more realistic hearing helmets and pads pop in madden unlike NCAA where you just get a big BOOM.

# 497 cavsfan2 @ 08/10/11 01:23 AM
The tackling feels like a new engine.

lol. Looks like a psychopath. I like the ball being true to size in the game. I went into replay and when I passed the ball I paused it and zoomed in on the ball to see all the details it had.

Just had my first 'glitch', Davis was running the sideline and I went to tackle him but my player seemed to go right through him. Again this is the 1st time I've seen this glitch, or any glitch. I went back to replay and it showed that I actually outran Davis and pressed tackle, but Collins was sucked and warped awkwardly and he missed completely. Could be glitch, or could be that Collins has poor awareness or tackle or something. I was wondering if anyone else has seen something similar.

Other observations:
-I love that bobbled passes can be caught by the WRs fluidly now. I realize virtually all Maddens have this but one play stood out: Jennings caught the ball. He got hit right away and bobbled it and caught it as he was coming down. That was very nice to see. Also, players for the most part seem to be going for the ball.
-Minor glitch: players go through refs sometimes. I'm sure this one was pointed out many times.
-All of the INTs the CPU had felt natural and I felt like they happened due to my poor pass placement.
-I've only had maybe two or three dropped INTs. I'm talking about the times when the ball goes right in the CBs hands and he just drops it. Glad to see this was reduced somewhat. Of course, CBs are not WRs for a reason, they don't catch well.

I got your beast mode here buddy. Don't hate! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1De48tvrdk

You need to play around with sliders and speed. You can't expect the game to run perfectly out the box.
