Not liking the defense in this game. Evan Turner shot in my face and dunked through me and my teammates in the Jordan game.

I realize I am in the minority on this forum but oh well. I really like this game and am totally behind what he EA dev team is trying to accomplish. I love the player control and the controls themselves are awesome IMO. Now I have been playing NHL 11 the last several weeks so the controls now feel very natural to me so it really wasn't that much of a learning curve which I think helped me like this game unlike others.

EA now has the basic controls down and RTP which is the most important aspect to me. Now the rest will follow and get more refined in the following years and I am fine with that. I can't wait for the retail version.

Looking at player models, I dont get why some players look so much better than compared with Live 10. Brandon Jennings is such a big improvement compared to last years game. Same with KD. Trying to get a hang of these controls, but so far, I'm not liking them all too much along with the graphics. Love the atmosphere of the arena.

KG on the other hand, is so freaking ghoulish looking in this game especially at the freethrow line. I couldnt put my finger on why KG looks so dang scary in this demo, but I realized what and why it reminded me of this:

You can literally replace MJ with Garnett in Thriller. Its not even funny.

I'm also loving that we can choose either hand we want to steal with. Its a cool feeling when you can guess how a player is going to move and strip him, then go to the other for a slam.

On offense I'm still trying to figure out the dribble system when tryin to beat my man. The times I've been able to get past my man are when I had separation and tried to use his momentum against him.

I gotta keep workin on it but I think I'll figure it out eventually. The post game is pretty fun to use if you take the time to learn some of the moves. Overall the shooting is working me I'm loving shots close to the basket like layups, but jumpers are killing me I'm missin everything still lol!

I can't seem to knock down a lot of shots. I'm missing all kinds of way airballed a few shots and bricked many. The hard thing about it is in game shots are a lot harder without the shot indicator. Even though I can see how I missed it I'm still not sure if I'm putting enough power on the shot or not.

I'm going to keep playing around with it b/c I think I'll figure it out. Overall my best bets right now is to play lock down D and post up on the other end with Pau.

Now for the negatives for all the nice things I'm feeling with the controls they are looking terrible on screen LOL! The blocked shots look funky as hell and some of my steals have been a lil WTF!! sometimes.

I'm looking past a lot of it because the control is a lot of fun to use, but I can see how this is going to turn off a lot of guys. Overall the game has been a lot of fun to play but it looks downright ugly a lot of times. Contextual animations are going to need a lot of work next year for sure.

So basically I would say the game is a lot of fun for me to play but it loses a lot of points due to animations. Right now I'm going to give the game 7.0 because it is fun for me to play but the genericness of it isn't good at all.

Back to playing the game for me....
Very good post, that's the exact feelings i have about the game.

I don't know have you answered or not, how can you make some post moves done, i just can't get it yet, thx.

fun game but post shots are too repetitive and i am not liking the graphics

This game is kinda fun, and a change of pace with the controls. The shooting feels more rewarding than any other game.

In be a pro mode, i never felt like a scrub as much as i have in this game. lol

Its not a bad game, It's fun..... But its definitely not a NBA Basketball Sim.

It's definitely more like Live 2003 with more Sim elements thrown in.

become legendary mode is better than I thought it'd be, but after watching that video and playing it myself, this game is horrible! The passing is the most complicated thing ever, and its PASSING!! Inbounding is a challenge as well, RT to pass? Who ever changed passing to RT is an idiot, A has always been passing and I don't even know why you would want to change that. smh. Good thing is, you can change the controls, but wow, this is...bad.

I was actually excited to download the demo, learn the controls, and see what the game had to offer. I must say i'm extremely disappointed. The gameplay is so many steps behind Live 10 it isn't even funny, the new control scheme is jerky and the presentation can't carry the dead weight. Live 10 was the perfect game to build off of and they went in an entirely different direction. Elite is in no way a representation of sim basketball. Slight improvements to Live 10 and a solid list of features and the Live series would have been fine. Now I think the death of this franchise is inevitable and I don't even believe NBA Jam can save it.

I really tried to give this demo a chance but I just can't do it. I REALLY liked Nba live 10 (2k guy) I thought live was back in action. I was even telling some friends that I might get Elite instead of 2k, I was really looking forward to this game. Until those videos came out and everything just went downhill from there. IMO If you're a huge live fan you might want to stick to Live 10 but that's just me. This game just went backwards and it's kinda sad because they were on the right step.

I am curious about the whole, "No Canned Animations" claim that is being advertised. Maybe I was very tired last night while playing the demo, but I thought that I saw plenty of "canned" goofy shot animations that looked eerily similar to Live 07/08. They looked very "canned" to my untrained eye. Please feel free to correct me if I am mistaken.

There r no screens, he's not trying 2 cut 2 the basket up the baseline he's just standing there. 2k did a much better job of capturing players true tendencies.
thats real, and thats why i liked live 10 cause they played and moved like themselves

Let's do this again. I'm tired of banning people, guys

this demo was straight trash man, wtf are these controls RT to pass (xbox) how im pose to do that? now the "A" button is onside screen? make passing the A button nobody uses screens, i gave up on this game after the tutorial was over and i started playing for like 40 secs on BAC then i was like ok im done with this mode the gameplay sucked, so i quit went to play now only stayed in there for 20secs cause its even worst playing 5 on 5 in elite, the gameplay was so bad, mechanics were awful players were stiff they still move the same as the previous Lives, all players have a dark shade to them, oh yeah and theres no DEFENSE in the game as in i cant play defense on another player, i move one time with the analog and player makes a hard turn or move, why cant there be a button that allows me to stay with my man?

# 538 bigballa21 @ 09/21/10 05:12 PM
these mods ain't kidding like 20 people got banned on 2 pages lol....anyway i wonder how much better the final build will be than this one? I just can't stay consistent with the shot meter if i miss it by an inkling it totally clanks....I'm not sure how i feel about that aspect of the game

I played the demo once. I was actually pretty satisfied at first through the tutorials and learning the controls; this is an area that has been lacking in NBA games I have played since hopping over to next-gen. I got a good idea of what you can do with/as an individual player on the court and how it would fare well against either a human or CPU opponent (would make for some good 2-on-2 streetball action as well, I suppose).

But when it translated over to the game, the control seems to have not been there anymore. The crossovers and spin moves that I learned were practically unavailable, and I'm not talking about trying to use Davis with them either. Even when they did work, the CPU just stuck onto me like a magnet, almost as if he predicted my move before I actually did it (maybe it's set like that in that they know what control I performed before the on-screen appearance, I'm unsure). It made the awesome dribble control all for naught. Regardless, I'm glad this demo didn't keep me on a broadcast camera so that I wouldn't disorient myself with the proper right-stick controls. I miss that way of playing sometimes.

Control seemed to pretty much be the only big thing to speak about when it came to the Elite demo, in my opinion. I'd like to think that it's not my TV, but the arena was overall pretty dark. I don't just mean it in a MSG kind of dark, but even the darker colored players nearly appeared like silhouettes on my TV. I know some EA games (maybe not the sports games though) have a gamma slider setting, so perhaps this is set in the final product of the game. But normal dribbling looked funky and rebounds were pretty quick in terms of coming up and down. The "auto strafe" just might benefit one control-wise, but the appearance of it makes it seem a bit too much like a video game. Obviously this is a video game, but a lot of sports games these days are really shaking up their games to get a big boost of authenticity, and Elite doesn't seem to support that notion. I didn't recall any signature jumpers, but I only played through the demo once. I also didn't get a taste of RTP yet, but I'm sure it's definitely in there for drives in the paint, something which I wasn't able to penetrate very easily.

The audio is what I think was the biggest gripe for me. I was so accustomed to witnessing a game that boasted some very real sounding presentation overall (believe it or not I am not referring to 2K11), and Elite falls very flat in comparison IMO. It was very difficult for me to get immersed in it. There's not much to say about this department though, I'm sure everyone can hear it in their demos and in the videos.

Overall I was actually very pleased for a change when I saw the tutorials boasting the complete user control, and I think that's a good basis for what should have been in basketball games for the past five years. But when we're already climaxing these consoles and they've just gotten to this step while pulling back on other aspects, I can't really do too much to defend EA in their position which they put themselves in. The demo will stay on my HDD and if I was more interested in basketball this year maybe I would even be inclined to give it a fair shake with a rental so I could tweak sliders and such, but it's still a long time coming for this renowned basketball game franchise IMO.

is it me or does the dribble moves have little to no affect on the CPU, I always thought a cross over was done to create separation and not just switching from hand to hand, it also seems that if you are no performing dribble moves the entire time you will get the ball stripped.
