Guys- How do Paul Pierce and Ray Allen look this year from a face model standpoint in the demo? If not too much trouble could someone post a screen capture?
PP looks ok, but they got Ray-Ray lookin' like he just walked out of a geriatric ward.
oh man. i think i'm back. nba2k10 was putrid, but this is a real step in the right direction.
whats with the players moving when you arent even doing anything? they slide. that pisses me off.
you mean off a pass when that player should be in a triple threat? and instead he's dribbling and moving? Ive seen it a few times. its when two guys come into contact with each other. I have seen it a couple times. I dont know if this helps but try to quickly hold down LT as you catch the pass and FORCE thee triple threat.
I must say, you really have to plan out your dribble moves. One Size up move right and a cross left.. If that doesnt yield anything, PASS THE BALL.. I've found myself forcing the issue with isomotion dribbling on many occassions. I have to let it come naturally to me.
One instance that almost brought a tear to my eye. The play was unfolding like 2k9 and 2k10. I was guarding Rondo with Fisher. Rondo passed off and made a cut to the basket. In any other prior years game, you wouldve seen a streamlined pass through two defenders.. Instead Boston passed it around two more times, and found an open jumper. Rondo's movement to the paint caused my defense to collapse, yielding an open CPU shot.. NONE OF THAT BACKDOOR PIP GARBAGE.
btw..
KOBE TONGUE sighting.. Dude was licking his lips after being fouled. A moving video game tongue. who wouldve thought
The demo is very limited and hard to get any good sense of what 2k11 is going to be about. You only get one difficulty mode (which I hope isn't sim), one camera view, and limited controls. Without any playcall options we have no way to tell how the game has improved in that regard and can't really put it through its' proper paces to test the sim nature of the game. Of course it's also still very easy to dunk, no physical play in the paint, so who knows what online & sim will be like.
Player movement is improved over last year, but still not nearly as precise as 2k8 was and now the players seem somewhat sporadic at times.
The one concern that the demo has alleviated for me however is player spacing. The spacing seems just fine and much improved over 2k9 and 10.
Overall though with the demo being so limited and the gameplay in general I can't say that I'm exactly sold on 2k11. Its improved, but it remains to be seen whether or not this will rival or be better than 2k8 in terms of sim play and realism.
You just made it extremely hard to not download the demo. I'm a demo feen normally, but I'm trying my best not to download this so it'll all be fresh when it finally gets here.
Sounds like everything that us old heads could ask for, and then some.
Nice writeup Macca
Don't do it WTF.... Its really not that good. REALLY.
Thanks to the member who sent me the link to the historic teams.
Shame they teased us with a few good ones, omitted some that would be great (like the Rockets), and just went overboard with so many Bulls squads.
The link hinted the list of historic teams as being "for now..." so I'm going to hold tight and hope they work on beefing that up with DLC. Do that 2K, and you've sold at least 1 more copy of you game than you would have.
I like how people act like all they have to do to get historic teams is decide that they want one and add it. They need to sign each individual player to get these teams.

QFT. It took me a while after the demo's release to get the iso's down but I think I've got the hang of it now. Also, I like that steal is no longer on R-stick. I think the layups are different too, as I am doing things unexpected from 2k10.
Honestly, I hate playing with the Lakers, but this has really got me ready to try every team in the league this year. At this time, it really seems like 2k is going to make playing sim advantageous to winning this year.
Bean dumps in to Gasol from the wing, then dove for the baseline rub (RUB PLAYS!!!) but then faked out Ray Ray and darted back out for the 18 footer. Nasty. Lots of new stuff, man.
After playing the demo i honestly think the reason they locked it to 4 mins and 1 quarter is because every year 2k's ram use and every things gets bigger and bigger you can only cram so much into a demo before its to big to download me
I'm finally getting used to the double team animation. I didn't realize you could choose who you want to have come and double team. That's a nice addition.
Not sure if this has been said yet, but I just saw a kicked ball violation. That wasnt in 10 was it? Also banked in 3 by Kobe at buzzer from almost straight on that rattled around and in looked good.
Kobe's step backs are ridiculous. Great help defense as well as spacing. Spacing and help D are apparent right away! Passing lanes are definitely tougher and you need to be smart in your passes this year especially half court ones. Fast breaks were fun and more realistic with shooters running the wings and spotting up if the lane was clogged. I loved especially being able to outrun the bigs with my guards. Im loving it while still getting used to it.
Only thing I expected was quicker reaction times from between making moves and shooting. Seems like I am out of control or have to wait a second before i actually go up or can release the shot. Just not as fast or reactive as I expected from all the hype of fluidity between moves. I press the shot button or stick and he doesn't go up right away is what I am trying to say. The same go's for dribbling. I don't feel like I can do a double cross boom boom like maybe Tim Hardaway back in the day with the UTEP 2 step. Maybe thats just high expectations for me that I had or maybe just that I am doing them wrong with not knowing all the dribbling moves or the new buttons yet? I will say I am getting used to the shooting delay though. Not sure how that will translate to online with any lag though?
Just a few of my impressions. I am loving it and with sliders, sim style and plays, and a newer build it will be constantly in my xbox til late June of 2011! Huge improvement over 10 in every way! Great job! Can't wait for Oct. 5th!!!

I noticed that! Thats awesome! Great addition and adds strategy by sending strong side, weak side guy, or a guy on a weaker player or on a no scorer or shooter! Becomes a chess match!
This guy is obviously not a sim player..the playrs moving sporadic when has kboe ever come down the court and break easily to the rim most of the time it takes some form of cross over and movement to gain mommentum not just breaking into a cross..hey look dude..like post like this guys are a waist of time..you complain its to easy to get ot the rim yet you also complain when gaigning momentum to do crossovers is important how about you go play 2k9 and use a roster update cause you don't even deserve the game
lol, it's an impression thread, I'm posting my impression. First off I do play sim, my feedback on 2k8 was higher than 95%. 2k9 and 2k10 I skipped because the game just wasn't sim enough anymore. As an avid 2k fan I really hope they've gotten back to their roots, but again I'm not sold, but not writing them off yet either.
Secondly I don't know what you read but I never once complained about momentum or cross overs, that's something you decided to insert on your own. It's actually on defense that I'm talking about, there's just certain occasions where things aren't as smooth or precise as they should be.
After all these years, this is it. Inside Drive 04 CPU IQ, 2K's presentation, visuals and animations, with Live's controls. I'm giddy right now, lol.
-Rondo takes it from Fisher. Just takes it for the fast break, no look behind the head dish to PP for a smash. Another play he gets slapped with the reach. Everything is so fluid. I tried to see how far I could walk the dog, and let the ball near halfcourt. Rondo zooms in, scoops it up for the easy fast break dunk.
-Moving around in space with the modifier on is sublime. I hate that they removed the walk it up anims, but I love how Fish can handle so fluidly, again. Retreats, pulls up with the between the legs...this is the perfect marriage of control and sweet, sweet mo-cap.
-Weakside help is there 90% of the time, which is great. Lots of tipped shots and outright rejections. Seen a few instances of help defenders just jumping at nothing, but it's been greatly reduced.
-KG on the blocks is sick. JO is so nice on here too. The sig stuff is bananas overall. The Truth's set shot, SMH. Mom. Ba. He's cheese, lol. Using Kobe is F'n cheese. I did a double spin baseline fadeway with Bean that was just filthy.
-Spacing is great, passing lanes are now monitored closely by the D. This year, if you don't have the angle, it's a wrap on the ill-advised pass.
It's tough to mentally note all the crazy things you see playing this.
I wish they had replay..nate went up for a layup with kobe in his grill..there was contact. He dished it around kobe's body in from the front to an open perkins.there was no ball morph through kobe's body it actually went around backwards pass to perkins. That was cool and he dunked it in with two hands.
