"BACKBREAKER™ is a new, revolutionary football experience that takes you straight onto the field. Breakthrough euphoria tackles, non-canned animation, and stunning on-field graphics make BACKBREAKER™ the first truly live football game."
I meant that as well, though maybe I misinterpreted what the person on the BB forums meant when he said "multiplayer". I actually very much hate the idea of referring to "online play" as "multiplayer", as seen in this rant.
So is "multiplayer" in the demo referring to online play, or split-screen?
Wouldn't having the option of the so called God view be defeating the purpose of what Backbreaker which is total immersion of on the field play? I think a lot of people are upset at the fact they don't have total control of the field like the other games because they're limited to their area of the field and feel a sense of helplessness. I'm speaking defensively on offense you field of vision s limited especially a qb where pre-read is prevalent decisions must be made quicker is it perfect no but its fun and exciting.. with that said every comment is being based of a demo not the final build minus the patches that are sure to come

Animations look good, but the player models look bad, so it really hurts the game. I don't know why, but I need authenticity in my football games. This game has a long way to go before it could compete with EA's games, but they have some pieces in place to make it a great series. I am personally not a fan but can see why others may like it.
hey guys im new but not to foot ball or football games i played football most of my life high school peewee so on im now 27 and woul like to add to this disscussion 1st i have played madden its whole time 2ks tecmos blitszes streets all that i will say that while madden focuses on detail hot routs and small things just the feeling of being back behind the helmet is awesome just ask if you were in the game like they say what would u see exactly you would see back breaker as a former tail back i can tell u seeing who is coming perifrialy is a skill not a right yeah its a game but if u at some point in youre life were behind a helmet u cant hate on this remember madden is 20 years old and i see some of the same ol same ol btw i like madden just sick of re hashes u guys got to admit shinny and new is better than old and dusty
On the subject of immersion, however, Backbreaker does a great job of putting you on the field and feeling each play. Realistic movements and sound are great on field.

Umm...that is the longest sentence I have ever read in my life. lol.
The game seems pretty fun, and I'm leaning towards buying it, but a couple things that could annoy me are popping up:
The CPU throws too many picks, can't run the ball, and either gets big gains only or incompletions/INTs in the passing game.
Pressure seems to happen too fast, too often. It seems like when I am sacked or the CPU is sacked, it happens in less than 2 seconds. This isn't helped by having to switch receivers which is a little slower than it should be, not to mention not being able to really see or read the defense as you're dropping back due to the camera.
The physics and everything are great, defense is pretty fun (using both sticks take a bit of getting used to), and it looks like this could be a good platform for realistic football.
and those jukes are official madden anit get juking right in 20 years canned junk as ssoon as i played i felt pressure angst and parinoia made me re think my brain washed madden goaline run block right mind set actually felt diff every play just a demo wow real gang tackels arm tackels ect are u guys playing the same game yeah different fast paced i dont have time to think before i get smoked but guess what guys that football not peton manning in da both 100 feet away looking down on every thing he created and minipulating as such u guys have to let yourself lose some control for the sake of fun realism i mean u juke a guy and get so caught up in whats in front of u u forget hees back breathing down your neck at no point in my fball real life could i see 360 degreess makes u respect barry sanders manning what dose it feel like to put a helmet on wait for it backbreaker
oh, and unless football players have out of body experiences everytime they lace 'em up, the camera here is completely unrealistic as well. Do you remember your own body taking up 60% of your vision when you played football?

when I get the game if it plays just like the demo, I'm going to beef up all the offensive line's attributes which should go a long way.

Yep... I understand why some people don't like it considering how many people here play their sports games in "Bird's-eye, arena, stands, press box" views.... which I think defeats the purpose of having 3D hardware. Why not just play a board game for your sports? The graphics can finally be truly appreciated instead of those ;low resolution models that other games default to when playing zoomed out which you need in order to render all 22 + refs etc.
This camera is the way I have always wanted sports games to play ever since ":Mode 7 " on SNS and NCAA Basketball and Hockey that used them... Drive Cam was finally used but everybody here wanted Broadcast cams so they could feel like they were simulating a TV game... I don;'t want a TV game... I want to be ON THE FILED!
this game is Visceral and being on the field is revolutionary and requires a sense of awareness not needed to play in zoom out view.
1) WR's warping to the ball
2) DB's warping to the ball
3) DB/WR piggy back catch animation
4) DB super swat issues
5) DB running your route better than your WR's
6) QB being able to stand in the pocket all day
7) QB being able to drop back 10-20 yards and consistently complete throws
8) RB spinning/breaking out of the grasp of 4-5 of your best defensive players in one delayed motion
9) Tron jogging
10) Hit stick automatic suction, big hit tackle animation
11) Lack of momentum issues
12) Same animations
13) Nano blitz exploit
14) A glaring problem with game play physics
15) WR's not jumping to make spectacular catches
16) OL refusing to double team block on pass plays
17) No scripted plays that make you feel cheated
18) No ROBO QB that is almost impossible to sack
19) Players ratings that do not matter
20) Players gliding across the field, but I guess that is part of the physics part
CPU offense seems anemic. I love playing as a safety, but my CPU front 4 seems to rack up sacks left and right. CPU run game doesn't seem to be much more effective.
I am going to hold off on this, it's hard to really get a great feel with such short quarters, so maybe a lot of that is due to screwy play calling due to short quarter times.
One thing I do like is dropping back to pass, and stepping up in the pocket and delivering the ball. Feels so natural to work the pocket. I do like that.
Still hate the camera angle. It really does the game a disservice imo. Still not sold on the player models, but I notice them less and less with every game, so that's sort of falling off the negative list.
Had something interesting happen that are few and far between with this demo. CPU just had an epic 10 play, 82 yard drive, ending in a 3 yard TD run.
Took all of the first quarter and 30 seconds of the second.
I hope the CPU offensive AI is better in the final game, maybe the quarter length is forcing it to make poor decisions, maybe not.
It was great to see a long drive like that from the computer, it was even able to establish the run and busted a 15 yarder.
I'm Oakland vs Chicago btw.
