2K8's camera makes sense:

Aside from the score overlay being too low (and disappearing after the ball was put in play), the stationed position made sense. Sure, we could maybe lower the angle if we wanted or control the depth of field, but why on earth would we have a camera where so much of the dirt behind home plate and the batter's feet is shown, and yet some actual relevant information is getting cut off the top and behind the score overlay in 2K10?

I mean obviously I'm complaining to complain right now. If we can adjust camera settings to eliminate the battiness on the developers' end, I'm sure that will be fine. But on the other hand, it makes me wonder what the fielding cam is like, or if they've improved the pitching cam options, or if the demo will turn me off because I can't change the options, etc. It's more of a question of... why? I hope that makes sense.
Yes, I love the 2k8 cam.

The batter's camera is unplayable for me as it is, it wastes a lot of space and takes you far away from the action, I loved that 2k8 camera angle, customization is a must.

The strike zone is obtrusive to say the least, however I think it's gonna disappear just before the ball is put in play.

The score overlay seems so bad aesthetically, that worst could not be, it doesn't even remotely resembles a true broadcast overlay, however it's not big deal as long as gameplay is solid, we'll see.

A little concern over the flat crowd, but it's only a picture.....

I'll also sign this as I would love two good baseball games as well.

The worst part about the camera last year was that you couldn't save it. I could tweak it to exactly what I wanted, but had to do so every time I turned on the system to play a game.

I wish season batting stats were always in the HUD. Not situational stats. In 2K9 you had to pause the game and go through a maze of menus to find out how many RBIs your guy had for that year.

What is it supposed to look like, a Ford F-150?

I'm very pleased with what I see, especially that pic at the plate. I think this game is going to be very fun.

This. When you see a stolen base in the majors, you dont see dust kick up like in LL and HS. The base paths are watered down so this doesnt happen. 2k10 has dust kick up. Easy fix for more realism.

Compared to what Yankee Stadium look like in 2k9, this year looks 10x better. Hopefully Chase can elaborate on the Batting/Pitching Cameras in his preview. Though it's been pointed-out that 2k9 had an option to change the Batting/Pitching Camera angles we can't go by that since we've had features in then taken-out the following year..

2K9

2K10

bigfnjoe96 I think you made 2k10 look worse comparatively speaking. Even though stadium colors are closer to their real life counterparts it just proves more they took away a lot of the texturing of the construction elements that make up the stadium and even the grass.

I'd like to know this as well. MLB 2K9 ran at 60fps most of the time last year, and the only place I've read 2K10 is 30fps is in Chase's impressions. Every other preview did not mention framerate (only to say it was smooth).

I like the look of the screens, don't get me wrong. But the game should look better than this if it's only running at 30fps.

Oh, and Yankee Stadium does look much better. The amount of improvements are both impressive and give hope to the rest of the 2K10 experience.

The IGN preview mentione it was 60fps with some drop to 30fps during flyballs.

There are absolutely zero things in 2K9's Yankee Stadium that look better than 2K10's Yankee Stadium, and I'm talking about the stadium only, not the fans. As for the fans, I think that when you get close up to them the game will make them more high-res, and if not I guess it's just to help out the framerate because of the camera view they went for. Either way, they changed the colors to more white shirts and team colors, so I like that.

I think the Camera Angle & Lighting is what's causing the difference. It also looks like they are again using a different color palette, which drives me crazy, because they seem to do this( change Color Palette) every year.

For me it's more about what system I like to game-on. I exclusively game on my 360, hence why I chose to play 2k baseball more than The Show.

Ah, I missed it.

There's still a chance the game will run at a steady 60fps. Last year at this time, SimBaller popped in to tell us optimization is the last thing to happen during a game's development.

Well, I don't see the big deal about this. Yes, it would be better if the reads came later, but I'm used to early indications like this because when I play The Show 09, it tells me if I guessed the pitch correctly before the pitcher even starts his leg kick.....so the timing seems about the same on this, or possibly even later. Plus, it can be turned off too.

# 79 Blzer @ 01/26/10 11:19 AM
I never understood that feature one bit. It has been a problem since 2K3 that any sort of "guess pitch" feature has shown up while the pitcher was in his windup.

The point is to be able to read these things like the players, right? Well how the hell can they read it before they even throw the ball? Believe me, major leaguers (especially Sabathia) don't tip pitches quite like little leaguers do. This is essentially a poorly implemented feature that I will be glad to turn off when I play this game.

It's always like VC has the right ideas and they sound like they could be good on paper, but there is always a catch to them.

# 80 sonnyleesmith @ 01/26/10 11:21 AM
IDK if anyone mentioned it, but the player silhouette is gone, I would have to presume it is for generated players as much as created players.

So, a big Woo-Hoo to that!
