I'm not really seeing that many hard fouls in the paint, seems to be hit or miss. I think the contact and fouls are definitely a nice upgrade from what it was before, but I'm still seeing too many And-1s because the defender doesn't foul the CPU hard enough to significantly reduce the inside shot success. I reduced the CPU inside shot slider to 45 (from 50), but I'm not really noticing any difference, mainly because when my defenders do make good contact with the CPU during drives, they're still making an unrealistic amount of layups.

numberonerb,

This is a PATCH impressions thread. This is not called a "the patch has dropped now start tweaking the heck out of sliders to make the game as realistic as possible" thread. Once I downloaded the patch, I set all sliders to default so I could get an idea of the actual FIXES 2k has made to the game.

You're not going to be able to fully see what has or hasn't changed if you're playing the patched game using your pre-patch sliders. Like I've said before, I've only reduced the inside scoring by the CPU (to 45), and I will attempt to reduce the layup success a bit as well and see if that will properly improve the overall CPU FG%.

Defense is much improved, I notice my players sticking with their man and getting a hand in the CPU's face without me having to adjust any sliders and this goes for the perimeter and down low. Shot blocking is much more aggressive for me and the cpu.

Also I don't see the player I'm controlling getting stuck in an animation on shots anymore especially when the shot clock is winding down. That happened a lot to me pre-patch.

The game is definitely a lot more fluid.

Wasn't the upcoming schedule covering the screen part of the patch. I'm still seeing it, but during stops in play. Is that normal?

Just got through a 10 minute quarters game, Miami vs. Bucks. I was Miami. I shot 45 percent from the floor, CPU shot 48. Free throws for me were 27/35, CPU was 17/27. Points in the paint were 34 for me, 36 for CPU. This was with my slider and foul slider tweaks combined with Nogsters roster. Freakin amazing. Anyone else notice all these new shot animations now? I can't stress enough how real the game feels now.

id like to hear more regarding the fatigue changes. hopefully they didnt over- correct what is a potentially great fatigue system.

however it had some issues pre-patch in regards to some of the cpu controlled players would fatigue extra quick without being controlled by the user.

usually 1 or 2 players would be down to 1 blinking bar within a couple minutes of game time while being controlled by the cpu.

example denver nuggets- cpu melo would be "exhausted"(1 blinking enrgy bar left) 4-5 minutes into the game while cpu nene running up and down the court same amount would have 4 bars left.

hopefully the patch tweak with possible slider changes gets this right. most of these guys with exception of some of the bigs /old guys , should be able to run and play ball all day long.

i do agree with and like the turbo drain on fatigue by the user.

hopefully they didnt mess it up for the online guys

Did you notice the game schedule on the screen for upcoming games during a stoppage in play?

One good game, the one I was gushing about, followed by two absolutely horrible games, that brought my excitement level to a hault. Ill need to take a break from this game for awhile.

Interior defense is so hit or miss, or shall i say inconsistent. all parts of the game I should say.

im so lost right now with this game. I need some guidance. lol

Not sure what to tell you, the game is definitely improved in this area in my limited time playing post patch. Maybe it's the teams your using.

The player collision under the basket + CPU play off the ball moved this game from a 8.3 to a 9.2, imo.

Maybe you dont play defense well. I play with the Warriors, and I think interior defense is wonderful after this patch. Also what level are you playing at? Everything depends on how you play offense and defense and the team you pick.

If you could bear to play anymore I wouldn't mind seeing some vids of some of the negative things you are talking about. After watching those vids you put up after your one good game it's hard to imagine such a quick turning of the tides.

Post-patch is a cheezer's nightmare. I've played 4 games with 3 quits. I'm loving this game so much more.

Its funny, because those are the EXACT same feelings I've been having since playing this game post patch. My first game I was really seeing the improved defense and lower shooting percentages on both sides (especially on my side). After playing a handful more games, it seems like the overall defensive AI can be a little hit or miss (and not just because the team in generally is not as good defensively).

It appears the contact animations towards the CPU can be inconsistent as well. I feel like I'm shooting a realistic clip most games (around mid 40%), while it appears (even with me dropping most of the shooting sliders by 5) the CPU is able to "get away" with more. I dunno, sometimes it feels like I'm playing the game pre patch. I am on Superstar difficulty, which from what I've heard gives more of an advantage to the CPU in certain aspects.

I brough the 70 Lakers into season mode 3 times and all 3 times some combination of Baylor, West, and Chamberlain got replaced by some randomly generated guys who arent even the right position. Instead of Jerry West at point guard they have some guy named Alejandro Garcia whos a 57 ovr 6'11 242 pound center from Mexico.

They show up before i start season but when it loads they have crappy guys like Garcia, Toni Rancic and Joshua Cowen instead West, Baylor, and Chamberlain. Yet Happy Hairston and Keith Erickson are still there and havent been replaced.

Any ideas?

Edit: Only in season mode though i just tried it in Association and everything came out the way it should.

Great game play, I do not use default sliders, I use tweaked Pared's sliders but I make sure cpu/user are equal. I don't have the high % problem;

Inside 45
close 47
med 47
3 48

I avg between 38 - 46% between both teams. I had held the Bulls to 33%

# 379 Yeah...THAT Guy @ 11/06/09 08:26 PM
If I was using sliders before the patch, is it messed up now that the patch is out? Like will the sliders that made it realistic before not be realistic anymore? And do I need to restart my association to get the tendencies and everything fixed?

# 380 drewbaby1414 @ 11/06/09 08:27 PM
Ive simulated 10 seasons in Association mode and had one season where 8 different players avg over 100ppg. They all actually avg the same amount of stats as a team total. Anyone else seen this?

Also noticed that player progression has not changed with the patch. Anyone else simmed some seasons as well?
