Is that not the purpose of a demo?

Nah I know what you mean though. I would go even further and say they don't give you a full sample, they give you a drop.

I was leaning towards Live before the demo. After playing both last nite extensively, going with 2k. Sure Live feels fresh. However, 2K is tried, true, and consistently consistent almost to a fault. A tweaked 2K9 with a huge boost to the atmosphere, I'm going for what I know. Can't afford both on 10/6, may get Live later on.

not when compared to Live's demo. Two 3 minute halves is fair. 2K10 is like being starving and someone offering you a sunflower seed.

I didn't miss his point. I understood what he was saying perfectly.

I KNOW how to play the game, the issue is not figuring that out. The problem is that I DO NOT LIKE THE CHANGES.

This game has been in regression control-wise since 2K7. They tinkered with "Isomotion" in 28 and they have been building on that flawed model ever since.

The demo was weak. Point blank. The best part of the game (commentary) is not even present in the demo.

Please understand this. Being able to play a game, and actually liking the game that you are playing, can be two different issues. I can play anything that 2K puts out but that doesn't mean that I'm crazy about it.

And don't get me wrong, I welcome any debate regarding the game itself, but he DID questions my credentials as a gamer by insinuating that I was a fan of the "other" title.

HA! HILARIOUS....

And you know this because you wrote the code? .........

Do you get the same sense as I do that the CPU offense isn't structured and they all run, essentially, the same backdoor, Princeton-style offense that every team ran in 2K9?

This year, the producers said that the teams should play like their real-life counterparts.

I think that's only half true. While you may see Orlando running a PNR, I don't recall seeing the 3 - 4 PNR that Rashard and Turk (Now Rashard and Carter).

I fear that in the final release, you will see Golden State taking quick shots and playing uptempo, and you may also see San Antnio slow it down. But I don't get the sense that the players involved will be participating in the offensive scheme the same way.

Wow some of you guys are too Sim for me. I mean I can't wait for NBA 2k10, I play the 82 game association and create my player but some of you guys take it to the next level on what you expect. I think when a game gets to this point, the game loses the fun factor because you have someone expecting it to be like real life 100%. Its not a knock on you but I mean I love the fact that the game is realistic but I also like the fact that its not as arcadish as Live.

We'll I really like the DEMO. For me the subtle difference between 9 & 10 are there. I feel the controls are tighter. The off-ball movement looks really good on both sides of the ball. Not to mention they feel like they have some weight to them.

The graphics look great. You can see that the team from GTA who did the face-mapping did an awesome job.

Look forward to the full version

I can definitely respect that.

I watch lots of basketball and, the older I get, the more I want some strategy tied into the actual game play. For me, NBA 2K10 appears to fall short of the X's and O's.

But I do understand that there are people who like to enjoy their games at different levels, which is why I think that the developers need to retire the old "Easy, Medium, Hard" levels and replace them with levels that accurately reflect the type of game you wish to enjoy.

For some who are having doubts based on the demo, you can check pastapadre's and get a feel for what the full game has to offer. The demo doesn't do justice to the game...2K could have done better.

Totally get what your saying but i think if an NBA game ever gets to the point where AI does exactly what the real NBA will do, does the videogame become less a game and more maybe computer program for coaches to use? Reading the impressions on this thread, it seems that people are more dissapointed in the tendency realism of the game. I thought NBA 2k9 was a great game and if NBA 2k10 is a polished NBA 2k9 then i wont be dissapointed.

Pastrapadre is a Live homer. You can get a feel for what the full game has to offer by PLAYING it. There is such a thing called renting games... I don't know why everyone feels it is a must to buy on the day of release and criticizes 2K thusly for not releasing satisfactory information, vids, etc. sufficiently before the release date. 2K has always been a game you have to play and LEARN to appreciate. If one is unsure about the game after the demo, they should rent it first.

Sort of like Iverson and practice....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGDBR2L5kzI

A DEMO not the FULL RETAIL VERSION GAME but a DEMO!

We talkin bout a DEMO man...Not full retail version..but A DEMO.

We talkin bout a demo man!

Btw...It's just a Demo my friends, it's not that serious. Just keep in mind it's a Demo.
Also there are a few folks on here with the full version and Steve has the beta ask them about things your concerned about. lol
I'm just trying to bring a little humor into this mine-field thread.
So enjoy!

finally both demos r out and so is the truth.nba 2k10 has done it again.with the comparison of both the obviousness of the style is very apparent.live is about moments they seek to make it fun by adding sick dunks and a lot of fast breaks, which is good but not real basketball.i feel like it is about picking ur favorite team and trying to outscore ur opponent while getting lots of highlight materials(way too much if u ask me)to keep u intertained.2k on the on the other hand is about team work defence forcing ur will and playing to the teams strength for victory.wins feel more accomplished by skills and basketball know how.
graphics is separated greatly 2.live character looks good no doubt but only as good as still images like in a book.nba 2k has that life like look (nicely done image matrix).
all in all both games r well developed only that nba 2 k10 is best developed.no better nba sim out there...and i say that with confidence.so it is easy to filter out the sim fans to basketball fans.they r not one in the same like i used to think.sime fans r the ones down for nba 2k this year basketball fans r leaning towards the more arcade nba live.sim fans have no prb with the slow pace real to life motions even if it is not fashy but simulated change of pace to quick step running floater in the paint compared to crossing over to btw the legs to round the back dribble drive to the basket and dunk on 3 ppl for 2 points of nba live.spend ur $60 bucks wisely.......... i will

The next post discussing Live in the 2k impressions thread will receive an infraction. I don't understand why people have to bring down one game to build up another.

If you guys can't refrain from that, we'll just start tightening the leash.

Is there an appropriate thread where we can compare the two games? Not being sarcastic here either. Its great to have a 2k discussion free of Live talk and vice-versa but many of us are attempting to decide which of the two games is going to be the right purchase. I didn't see a thread for this....could you link me up to the right place to indulge in the debate?
