NBA 2K10 News Post

I and a few others were lucky enough to attend the NBA 2K10 launch party here in NYC.

We were given full copies of the game and are willing to answer questions.

The only thing I'm going to tell you guys right now:

NO QUESTIONS ABOUT RATINGS. We already post them in the NBA 2K10 screenshots section.

Ok, let the madness begin.

I'd be very careful with the tweaking. I tried doing that and some things seem to mess up others. I don't think the sliders are cut and dry with how the AI works.

I dropped Alley Oops to 0 and the CPU started feeding everything in the paint.

Just a heads up...

theres an alley oops slider? was that in last year?

Don't know. But again, it cuts them down, but then PIP goes up. Real head scratcher.

hmm...damn sounds like a balancing act is needed...based on the demo i think playing center and getting the guy in position is the way to go to defending alleys...

Oh, and im loving the long rebounds on this game..
they have long rebounds in this game finally? that's nice to hear.

for those of you who have the game how do you feel about the speed of play execution after a play call this time around? do they run them faster?

# 986 Pared @ 10/01/09 12:30 PM
They are faster but I still don't think they are run as well as they should be. Plus the play art breaks at times and you're left wondering what should happen next.

The only saving grace is the CPU doesn't just stop; they keep looking for shots/space/openings.

Does LeBron still have the same shot from the combine(which is Joe Alexander's shot),his old one from 2K9, or a new one??

Pared, which sliders did you tweak exactly? And how much did you lower them? I'm especially curious about the alley-oop slider, as you mentioned bringing it to 0 makes the CPU dominate the PIP. Did you bring it back up to its default or did you find a happy medium between 0 and 50?

yeah ninja im seeing long rebunds...i grabbed a few misses near the ft line and initiated the fast break...its awesome...shots over the backboard are still in the game...not a much, but its there...but i hate that

Pared or someone with a copy..

I've noticed a putback dunk in the majority of videos.. do you think theres a way to tone that down? or will we just need to hope 2k patches it?

Check the sliders forum. I ended up going back to 50. (default)

And shots on the block that hit the side of the backboard.

I think there is a slider for attempt putbacks but it's not over the top if you box out.

When they happen, they're not 100% and they also happen out of nowhere. Very explosive.

Well MRNBA2k10,

I'm seeing some instances where you dribble to a spot that's not where you wanted to go, but that's more so from the defense.

It's very strange, in the game I can control what I want to do I'd say a good 90-95% of the the time. But if I go to MyPlayer and try the dribbling drill it's a mess.

Not sure how to answer your question or if I just did.

After playing the demo, the ISO and size up moves seem limited...In your experience with ISO...is their a lot of variety in the moves this year?

# 994 Pared @ 10/01/09 02:13 PM
That's because it's ratings based. You can't double crossover with low rated players in their dribbling attribute and so forth. At least from my experience..

this! i would like to add on the defensive side of the ball as well...im getting some weird animations when playing tight D on the demo...so is it smoother playing D in the retail?

My question got skipped over last time so Ill just ask it again....Is there an alternate controller configuration that makes the right stick do all the dribble moves like Live? I don't care too much for the shot stick and isomotion is extremely difficult for me. Some people say it is in the game, and some say it is not. If you could answer this it would be greatly appreciated. Also thanks for answering all these questions.

Yes. I downloaded the demo 2 experiment and I didn't really like the feel of it. Also keep in mind that just generally speaking, u have 2 get used 2 playing defense anyway so if ur 1st real chance is on the demo, you've got limited time and options 2 get over that learning curve...

Thanks Pared. It's nice to know they move around on their own, little disappointed about a true lack of urgency on plays. I will need to play it myself though as many here have said.

Every time I get in front of the game, I forget to check. Sorry man, if I can't get to it, hopefully someone else can.

Haha its ok man...I just keep getting the different answers. Some people say yes and some people say no. This would really make my 2k experience much easier. I usually play Live, but I switched due to association mode being insane, and I really want to be able to do isomotion effectively.
