NBA 2K10 News Post

I and a few others were lucky enough to attend the NBA 2K10 launch party here in NYC.

We were given full copies of the game and are willing to answer questions.

The only thing I'm going to tell you guys right now:

NO QUESTIONS ABOUT RATINGS. We already post them in the NBA 2K10 screenshots section.

Ok, let the madness begin.

Hey guys who have the full game,

In association do they have weekly video wrap ups like in college hoops 2k8 and in nfl 2k5?

Also after big shots like buzzer beaters and such do they have legitimate celebrations?

2. Could you please confirm if the AI uses the plays on their teams playbook ? ... if you edit them, do they take this into account ? ... or is it like 2K9, where all teams just seem to play the same 8 plays, regarless of your edits ?
yea, yea ... I know that you havent had the time yet ... but I just needed to bump it so I could feel some sort of autolove ... just kidding since you have alreday give me that much ... thus, if anybody with the games wishes to try to address this (hehe) ...

P.D.
I am at Dominican Republic so I would be getting the game 7-10 days after the release ... and once fully out (Oct 6), I doubt someone would find the time to help me know ...

I was wondering what the difference is between always shooting with the clutch (LT) and not using it. I played the demo today and could not find a reason not to use (LT) when shooting.

Couple questions for anybody with the game, just something I noticed when I turned onthe demo and from a video I saw this weekend. Does the game recognize when your playing it? Saw a vid where the announcer said something like welcome to this Saturday morning game and when I played tonight he said welcome to Tuesday night basketball, or something to that effect. When your on the break..also something I saw and want to be sure its there...does the crowd get a little louder with anticipation on the break right before a big play?...if your understanding the question.

For anyone with the game, do passes out of jump shots by the computer happen as often and as accurate as they were in the demo? Every time the AI went up for a jump shot with an open man almost anywhere on the court they would pass out of it and never throw an inaccurate pass.

Very important question for me Pared...Does one of the alternate control settings have the right stick use dribbling moves, like Live? I'm loving this demo but Isomotion is way too difficult for me? So is there an alternate control configuration that is similar to Live's right stick dribbling moves? Please answer this. Thanks if you do. Your answering all these questions is really appreciated.

Is it possible to have the custom arena music being played when playing Association? One member claims it isn't and can only be played during quick games.

Do you have to adjust the sliders a bit to get a good game?

Man I am getting worried, does anyone have the PS3 version yet???

Couple of quick questions for anyone who has the game...

-Are All Star Game crowds neutral this year, or do they still boo the road team? Do they wear their actual warmups from their team, or All Star warmups?

-Do animations kick in when u run into the stands coaches, referees, etc? I noticed u can't run into the coaches and bench on the demo.

-Are there different injury animations this year? Does play stop on every injury?

Thank you in advance.

i've played about 4 games and i've seen the CPU throw at least 3 inaccurate passes that i can remember out of jumpshots/layups

just played the magic and jameer tried to go up for a layup, but i rotated over and contested it - he passed out of the shot to barnes behind the 3pt line and it went over his head out of bounds

i can answer the 2nd question right quick: dunno about coaches, but referees yes

also had a couple cool animations where you can actually knock over the floor-mopper guy

after a fastbreak dunk my player's momentum would carry him out of bounds, out of control and he'd run into the mopper guy and knock him completely over

happened once with JR and once with melo

I think only you will be able to be the real judge on what you're asking. The weight of the players is very noticeable to me, but I also don't go around trying to cheese the game. I've tried to do it, haven't had much success, but that has never been my MO when I play a game. I don't try to test out things typically. I check things here and there and post what I see. That's how I found the AI not reacting to the PnR accordingly.

Hope that helps. You don't have much longer to wait now.
Thanks Pared. Right now its more the opinion of guys like you that make me even consider parting ways with my money for 2k10. Honestly.

I've downloaded the demo since your last response and quite frankly, the demo has done nothing for me.

I do believe that companies release demos to give prospective customers and idea of the 'goodies' the retail versions of their games will bring thereby swaying a buying decision.. the 4 minutes of commentary-less fame that 2k's demo shares with us has not convinced me to dish out the dough when this hits shelves.

That flies in the face of competition, who with all their shortcomings have done enough to pique my curiosity for me to know i'm gonna buy their product. i can afford both, so its probably just a matter of time before reviews from the gaming community dissect each product... based on which one or the other will be my pref choice for the season.

but figure i'll be content with one nba title until then. i just hope 2k isnt getting lazy being at the top.

Like I said, It's not my MO. In normal goings, I can't just force the ball in the paint, never have.

I understand some people like to get the game and try and force themselves in the paint to try and break/test the game, but I'm not really trying to do that. I'm not a game tester, I'm a game player.

In the course of the games I've played, similar to momentous' association video, when I try to force the ball in, I've had missed shots, deflections and turnovers. Increasing the fouls are a must, as is lowering the CPU shooting on higher difficulty levels.

Ultimately, only you guys can decide for yourself. I'm just helping you get by the few weeks.

Hey Pared, how are your teammates regarding sticking to their defensive assignments? Do they fall asleep and give up easy back door cuts/oops?

Does the CPU walk back and forth and slide around you towards the basket? How tight are the 3 second violations? In the Combine, they are pretty tight, and it works well, but in Smoove's vid, I saw a 6 second violation.

Pared, I believe you mentioned earlier that it is easy to save and resume a "quick play" game. Can you save in the middle of an association game?

Thanks to all the guys answering questions...
