Madden 2010 News Post

September 9, 2009 – This season marks the 50th season for the eight original American Football League (AFL) teams, and EA SPORTS is commemorating the celebration with the release of the AFL Legacy Pack game add-on for Madden NFL 10.

Available on September 24th, the comprehensive add-on brings the heritage of the AFL to Madden NFL 10 with all-new 1960’s-style presentation elements. Referees don the orange striped AFL uniforms, official AFL markings and logos decorate the field, and more – all while featuring a retro football card-like user interface and classic film grain broadcast camera.

The eight original AFL teams will be represented by name and wear their historic uniforms, including the Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs (as the Dallas Texans), New England Patriots (as the Boston Patriots), New York Jets (as the Titans of New York), Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers and Tennessee Titans (as the Houston Oilers).

The 15 AFL Legacy Game matchups during the 2009 NFL regular season will include the Legacy Pack presentation in the offline Franchise mode, as well as during the Play Now, and Superstar modes. Historic AFL uniforms can be selected in any mode – offline or online!

Relive some of the greatest moments in AFL history with all-new Madden Moments, which include additional Xbox 360 achievements and PS3 trophies.

The AFL Legacy Pack game add-on for Madden NFL 10 will be available on September 24th for 560 Microsoft Points and $6.99 on the PSN Store.

The award-winning Madden NFL 10, the highest rated version ever for the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3, is in stores now.

That just seems like the Titans will be called the Oilers in game, not that you'll get like the 1979 Oilers in the game.

Is this true? You don't get the historic rosters?

I doubt it. With the players union and all. Remember a few maddens back when the classic teams just had numbers? No names at all.

It would be awesome though.

This DLC said that the Titans (Jets) old unis are in it. Aren't they already in it? I use them from time to time.

They're referring to the white version of the jersey. Those didn't debut until after the game came out.

Yeah, I found it strange as well. Why do throwback like that and then no provide the real rosters? Seems weird.

It's not that simple. EA would have to individually negotiate a deal with EVERY single player on those rosters before they could use them in the game. Do that and the cost would be alot more than $7.

For those wanting rosters, how would that work?

The Raiders and Titans (Oilers) are the only teams using a uniform representing one specific season.

The Jets (Titans), Chiefs (Texans), Broncos, Bills, Patriots & Chargers all have uniforms that were used for multiple seasons.

Not to mention that the Jets & Broncos weren't exactly very good during the years they used those uniforms. On top of that, the AFL Madden Moments take place in different seasons as well. I know one of them off the top of my head was Raiders vs Chiefs at the end of '69 - and both teams had already switched to their current logos by that season. It'd be kinda dumb sticking the 1969 Chiefs roster into a 1960-62 Texans uniform, wouldn't it?

The more I think about - the more upset I get that we have to wait 2 weeks for this thing. Release it now already!

And you guys act like they slapped your mom! It's business, stop all this stupid hating and stuff, every time they try to add something to their series. Enough is enough and it's getting old already, if not gotten rotten.
No chance you'll get stadiums, that would be too much work for a one year product, I don't blame them for not adding something like that as a DLC for one game. But...

How does new uniforms give you a new experience? Please explain to me why these uniforms weren't on the disc that was sent out, considering back in January or whenever they talked with Pasta they were already in the works and already said they would be in Madden. It's not like Uniform textures take that long to create, seriously. That is not bashing that is truth talk.

They aren't giving you new rosters either, it's the same teams with just a new uniform.

Madden Moments / Sepia Filter are things that will be used once. I do not know anyone who bought Madden for the Madden Moments, or anyone who even really cares about those. If you want to be happy about a color filter and grainy effects that's your call. Are you really going to play with the filter more than 5 times the entire time you have it? I'd like to say you most likely won't, which is why this whole item is not justifiable. People say I am bashing, but it seems like most people here are uninformed of many things, like 1) what exactly is in the DLC 2) the price you are paying compared to what you are actually receiving, compared to other DLCs and the fact you paid $60 for the whole game itself and 3) that complaining about the price DOES work with EA and they WILL lower to a different price or even free if you argue enough.

That's all.

Thanks, but I don't need you looking out for me and how I spend my money. I'm well informed on what I'm getting and have determined that for myself, its worth the $7. If its not for you, then its not. But different strokes for different folks my man.

And if you want to argue about the cost then do so either on EA's forums, by contacting their customer service, or by doing so in the thread linked below, which is filled with people who have similar opinions to that of your own about the cost. No reason to bring that thread topic into this one.

1. There are throwbacks and alternates in the game already. Have you even played it?

2. You don't like the DLC, don't buy it. Pretty simple if you ask me.

Yeah the retro look is admittedly gimmicky but it is pretty cool. It would be AMAZING if they had old time rosters, but that would take a long time to get licenses, etc...And by the time it came out it would probably be like 20 bucks.

LOL, yeah so then you can buy material things and be miserable when you are older instead. That makes sense.

I understand it's not just a filter. It's also different colors for the overlays and a different Madden on the Ask Madden. Bells and whistles, bells and whistles.

If you ever played MVP baseball where they had this same exact feature included in the original disc you will realize how pointless and gimmicky it actually is.

But to each his own.
