NBA Live 10 News Post

Da_Czar recently had an opportunity to head out to EA Canada and played a ton of NBA Live 10. Check out his impressions, right here. Two Czarisodes will be available next week.

"Recently your man Da_Czar was invited to go up to EA Canada to have a look at NBA Live 10. While elated to have an opportunity lay my hands on the game early I also had a few demands of the LIVE team on my visit.

I wanted to be certain no one was spiking my kool-aid (berry blu), so I requested that outside of my tour I be locked away and allowed to play with no one telling me “hey this is cool look at this”. To my surprise they had the exact same thing in mind. I was shocked by how open they were with their product. As I always do I will give it too you straight... No chaser... But to the haters of the series that also includes things I enjoyed about the experience."

I've seen Da_Czar mention "dynamic season"...is that confirmed as DNA can used into your existing season????

If so...that's pretty much the single greatest feature ever added to an NBA game.

If not...DNA is a cool feature, but really only useful for one off games.
I think Stephenson or somebody already spoke about that and it should be exactly what you/we want. Dynamic commentary and dynamic players/team all purged in to season mode. At leas that is how it sounded.

Sorry if this has already been asked.
blackngold i did not venture into the sliders but that was one thing the dev's said was fixed. we had a hearty laugh about the pains us games have sharing sliders "12 clicks from the left....LOL

I gotta say, I haven't been feeling the vids, but I respect your view. Looking forward to the demo.
I honestly can't wait for you guys to get the demo either. although i did not play the demo. it will be interesting to me if you find as much strategy as i did and I really want to know if the control aspect will cause guys to enjoy it who dislike that game from an animation stand point.

Bigboy I put my impressions in the response to dirtypuppet. i liked it and felt it was very accurate and the lighting was perfect. joe's jumper looked sweet. Liked bibb's as well.

I loved the Plays for Joe in Atl's playbooks and loved the challenge of getting Josh's offense going. Very fun to play with.

There are 1 or two people who work on both games and the rest kind of just work on one game specifically. The great thing about this is that all the gameplay advancements can easily be incorporated into ncaa 10 and when ncaa 10 team expands or improves on a feature or control that can be incorporated into live 11.

from what i was able to see the teams work closely with one another and the ncaa 10 team really wants to deliver a true college experience and "not just nba live 10 with college uniforms. " quoted from the man in charge of ncaa 10.

Czar Man...thanks for the love on the answer. You don't know how much having a brother that knows what he is doing means to Sim Nation. I look forward to the vids...hit up us with those A.S.A.P. Look forward to the Battleground this year, and two great games in Live 10 and 2k10. Much Praises.
-Sincerly Cortland "Infamous" Jones P.S. Sorry for the late response...cus the hands needed some sleep. Thanks for being real, and always keep it real.

Im converting. I had 2k last year. It was a great game, but it got boring really quick. Ea sounds like they are bring something new to every possession, something that 2k sucks at tremendously.

Hey Czar,

You mentioned that one of the things that bothered you was that Yao Ming sometimes jumped too high. I felt that aspect was really inaccurate in the 2k series where Ming and others with low vertical ratings would elevate what would appear to be 3 feet off the ground. In general is there a visual distinction between good and poor leapers in Live 2010? Is it evident when rebounding, shot blocking, layups?

Thanks

Been a long time member although I haven't posted much in the last few years. I took a break from sports gaming for a bit but now I am back. It has been a few years since I bought a pro hoops game and was going with 2K at that time. Actually, my roots are from an old Bird vs Dr. J game and Lakers vs Celtics. Anyway, I finally am feeling some really good vibes from NBA Live this year and decided to take the plunge again.

Just wanted to say thanks for the impressions and am looking forward to seeing more in the coming weeks.

Yo Czar I got a question for you here my dude, not sure if it was answered already but there is so many pages to this thread so I thought I'd ask. How does the A.I. respond to clutch time situations? I never really played live 09 to long to see how it was in the clutch but from experiences with 2K where the A.I. just doesn't seem to have a sense of urgency in the clutch, I was wondering if Live 10's A.I. has that clutch time logic to try and get quick baskets when trailing in a close game. Appreciate it in advance man.

Hey Czar, i just wanted to say that i think you are the greatest guy i have ever seen on any internet forum . you seem to have the exact tastes in sim gaming as me, and i am VERY confident i will love live 10 becuase of this article and your comments.

have a quick question; will you be releasing a czarisode on wednesday?

basically i will be leaving thursday morning for a week and wont get intenernet access for 10 days. although no problem if your busy and all and cant answer it

anyway it should be a great year for bball games, i know 2k10 will be great, and if live plays as good as it looks then ill have a massie smile on my face for months.

oh and congrats on the baby

~
Idris

It'd be nuts if the game used DNA to determine how players and teams played in the clutch, for example being down a certain amount of points with under 2 minutes remaining. I'm pretty sure stats like that are tracked. Also, it'd be really cool if the AI was up by three with four seconds left, they would foul and not allow your team at a chance to tie. Whether they foul or not should be determined by DNA.

Oh yeah most def, I would love for the game to present this much logic to determine what it needs to do in certain situations in the final minutes of a game, that would be crazy and add a large amount of realism to the game.

Question I forgot to ask and I hope it's not a repeat.

1) Did you feel challenging shots on D affect offensive success more realistically in Live 10, unlike 09?

2) Did they fix the substitutions during free throws? In 09 you couldn't properly sub players in between free throws (please tell me this is fixed).

Thanks.

As far as I know your correct about ps3 coming out a week later but i have no official inside info on that. Just what i have heard steph say here.

Cavs looked great. Playing with Lebron is a definite advantage and very very fun. They will be a difficult team to defend against. i used a bunch of their different Jerseys and they all looked great. Also loved the arena in cleveland. Never been to a game there but looked just as good as on tv in game to me.
