NBA Live 10 News Post

Da_Czar recently had an opportunity to head out to EA Canada and played a ton of NBA Live 10. Check out his impressions, right here. Two Czarisodes will be available next week.

"Recently your man Da_Czar was invited to go up to EA Canada to have a look at NBA Live 10. While elated to have an opportunity lay my hands on the game early I also had a few demands of the LIVE team on my visit.

I wanted to be certain no one was spiking my kool-aid (berry blu), so I requested that outside of my tour I be locked away and allowed to play with no one telling me “hey this is cool look at this”. To my surprise they had the exact same thing in mind. I was shocked by how open they were with their product. As I always do I will give it too you straight... No chaser... But to the haters of the series that also includes things I enjoyed about the experience."

cool i have not been authorized to take screen shots. As you can tell by the lack of screenshots anywhere on the internet (all game sites previews using same pictures) they are keeping a close lock on those.

As soon as they release me to though i would have no problem putting up a few shots of the King.

^^This is a great question!

In general is there a visual distinction between good and poor leapers in Live 2010? Is it evident when rebounding, shot blocking, layups?

Thanks
love that screenname man....Hey actually Yao is the only player that stuck out to me. It was weird becuase i don't recall that happening with anyone else. seemed really out of place to my eyes so i am assuming it was only him.

It is does exhist with other players I just didn't notice it. But in my mind it was not an issue with anyone other than Yao. Further gameplay will let us know for certain.

The second part about visual distinction I will have to look for when i get the game to be certain.

LOL to be fair though its a new year and 2k may very well improve ! I'm expecting the best 2k game of this generation this year. the question is will that be enough to hold off a heck of a game from the live squad ????

I look forward to finding out.

Anyway, I finally am feeling some really good vibes from NBA Live this year and decided to take the plunge again.

Just wanted to say thanks for the impressions and am looking forward to seeing more in the coming weeks.
Oh yea baby bird vs Dr J !!! Thats what I'm talking about man. Hey after a brief hiatus I can't see how you wouldn't love this game !!!

welcome back to the SIM Nation LOLOL !

great to hear you plan to release a czarisode wednesday!!

exactly how many are you planning? based on your exclusive playtest alone? as i imagine you will be doing more after the demo drops and you have more time with it.

i know 2k10 is going to be a great game, so really dont care about seeing tons of footage and stuff. live is the game making the comeback so all the videos and opinions i can get on that game the better

2. Transition Defense - Do forwards and Centers get back on D as they should?...Last year it killed me to see Yao Ming outrunning Amare or other smaller post players in the transition game.

3. Manual Rebounding/Boxiing out - Talk to me about it...Does it work and did you feel like you could have a manual impact on going for bounds?

4. Zone Defenses - Your thoughts on how they were implemented in the game...effective and more importantly over-effective???

5. Mid Range game - I always thought most cyber hoop games were too many dunks and too many 3's...How does the mid range game feel in LIVE

Thats all dogg and looking forward to Czarisodes
Dat Swag what up Family ???

1. Was not an issue at all that I saw. Hated that glitch myself.
2. From what I remember the individual momentum took care of that. now i must admit i didn't get a ton of fastbreaks ( they are fixed don't worry) I don't recall seeing anything ridiculous as far as being chased down by a big.

3.Yes it works . it takes some time to get used to as I am using to hitting the trigger or pulling down on the right stick to box out. Once you get used to it its very cool to use. Rebounds are one of my favorite area's in Live 10. Snatch rebounds baby. Just seemed to be a good variety of ways guys were pulling down the boards.

4. Did not play against any zones for too long. Would need more time to give an accurate answer.

5 The mid range game in live 10 is best I have ever seen. It's really a combination of many many things but live 10 is really a battle of the midrange because its not easy to dribble in the paint without it getting stolen or knocked away. And the cpu D will play off of guys getting to the basket so that most times your going to have to hit that mid range to get them more aggressive to beat them to the basket....Like I said hands down best ever so far (please remember I have not played 2k10 and that is excluded. I talking about every game i have ever actually played)

LOVED live 10 mid range game !!!

I never really played live 09 to long to see how it was in the clutch but from experiences with 2K where the A.I. just doesn't seem to have a sense of urgency in the clutch, I was wondering if Live 10's A.I. has that clutch time logic to try and get quick baskets when trailing in a close game. Appreciate it in advance man.
AD2084 ! The jury is still out on this one. That is an area I would really need to be focused on to give you the goods I know your looking for in this area.

I will say that I had no Head scratching moments when playing the game coming down to the wire. I did give this example earlier where in one 4th qtr game i was being blown out by the lakers and Kobe was passive.

In another game I had them down like 8 with the cav's and he came out in the 4th and literally took over the game. Now by the time it came down to the wire they had stretched me to a 10 point deficit. I will def be looking at this closely once my game gets here and i can get some full 12 minute focused games going on.

have a quick question; will you be releasing a czarisode on wednesday?

basically i will be leaving thursday morning for a week and wont get intenernet access for 10 days. although no problem if your busy and all and cant answer it

anyway it should be a great year for bball games, i know 2k10 will be great, and if live plays as good as it looks then ill have a massie smile on my face for months.

oh and congrats on the baby

Thank you so much for the kind words family !!! Its sincerely appreciated. I am trying like nobodys business to make sure the show is out by tomorrow. There are some "corporation" issues that may prevent that but the entire goal was to have the shows out before the demo drops. Everything that can be done is being done to make that happen.

i think the live team has a greater respect for how much work it actually takes to produce my type of show now than before... just my opinion though.

If there was a way to choose the type of dunk then i don't know how to do it. They all seemed contextual.

1) Did you feel challenging shots on D affect offensive success more realistically in Live 10, unlike 09?

2) Did they fix the substitutions during free throws? In 09 you couldn't properly sub players in between free throws (please tell me this is fixed).

Thanks.
1. definitely. that is the whole challenge though because if they keep that dribble and you close out hard your going to get beat.... Loved that part of the game.

2. Don't know. during freethrows i was taking notes and such. but demo will be out soon so you can verify then.

i had 3 planned originally. however the second one that I capture for Beluba did last week on the shooting controls so that Got scrapped. Right now it looks like just one before the demo drops. The 3rd wouldn't be necessary after people have the game. Some may still have enjoyed it. there is an outside chance it gets though the process in time.

Especially because he can criticize things he doesn't like. Unbiased reviewers is what we want!

It's DaCzar, Its DaCzar, ItsDaCzar.....

vital question: before, you had to pretty much alter every team's playbook in order to force them to go to their best players.

Do the guys who are supposed to be taking the shots, take the shots?

# 296 Stumbleweed @ 09/08/09 12:30 PM
Czar, is it fair to say that Live is the closest game you've played (again, excluding 2K10 since you haven't seen it) to living up to the quote in your sig?

"It's about representing the game, and rewarding people for being students of the game. A simulation is a game of basketball problems solved by basketball solutions."

Seems like it to me from reading all of this, but wanted your thoughts. The whole thing about knowing each player's individual momentum and how certain guys have faster moves and more explosiveness than others, Synergy playing directly into shot %s, tempo having a huge impact on the game, massive playbooks with authentic sets... Just looks like it's got enough tools to live up to that for the most part.

The post where you talked about getting a mismatch with Arenas and burning Gasol then having problems with Jamison with the same matchup due to his limited ball-handling... that screams "basketball solution" to me.

Just thought you guys might want to know Marcus Stephenson just tweeted

"Why is the 360 demo dropping earlier? No idea -- that's not a decision we make."

But no date given?

They announced Sept. 10th awhile ago. Sept. 17th for ps3 users, unfortunately.
