-The pass coverage still seems fundamentally broken. It's nice that guys actually press at the line now (most of the time), but they immediately give the guy the inside route and let him run crazy across the middle. If you don't press, it seems like they give the guy a permanent 5 yard cushion, and sure enough they run wild all over you.

-The zone still does not work properly. Instead of guys actually covering the receiver that comes into their zone, they just stay rigid in their pattern until the ball is thrown and then make a play on the ball. They basically ignore the receivers most of time.

What defenses do you guys have success with? It seems like you can't go all out man, so (like I had to do with the last Madden) you just have to put everyone in zone and hope that the defensive pattern happens to much up with the offensive one. It's very frustrating that it's so unreliable. And to top it off, it seems that the CPU plays perfect pass defense. They press at the line and hold my guys there, and when they do release they are actually running slightly ahead of my receiver on their routes. Clearly the potential is there for the AI to play competent defense (even too competent), so why the heck does it only happen for the CPU and not my CPU teammates???
I totally agreee with this guy. My ONE gripe is that players don't play zone correctly and I get beat on slants when playing man to man. I guess I would just like to know what defenses you guys are using to stop the pass? I'm playing on the Gamestop ps3 demo if it makes any difference.

Some of you need tv upgrades bad!

I was playing on All-Madden the passing is very strange. I'd be standing strong in the pocket fling a bullet over the middle to a receiver and instead hitting him in the hands Eli decides to lead him 15 yards...

A few thoughts (bad first):
  • The run defense is still really easy, I keep stuffing Willie Parker and keeping him in the 20-30 yards/game area. In playing the demo as much as I am, he's only broken away for a long one (20+ yards) only 2 or 3 times.
  • Diving in an attempt for a shoe-lace tackle doesn't always result in one. WR's & HB's should be able to high step out of those (not all the time, just more than none) about 30-40 percent of the time on average throughout all the NFL.
  • There's a lot of dropped passes by good receivers (Boldin, Fitzgerald)
  • I've seen a few picks where the CB just stops in his tracks on a dime, turns around 180 and makes the INT. No person can do this while running at full speed without snapping his ankles.
  • Field goals are waaaaaaaaaay too easy, the kicking meter is really slow, which helps it make the kicking game so easy. 55 yard FG's are just simple now, any avg. kicker can make those in the game.
  • There's an awful lot of defensive linemen making INT's off of bad passes while the QB is getting hit. There's a reason why D-linemen aren't receivers. They should drop an INT at least 3 out of 10 lobs like that.
  • On punt returns, the coverage guys on the kicking team are getting jambed a little too hard too often I think. Once randomly is understandable, but not every punt.
On the flip side, here's what I like so far:
  • The slowed down pace is wonderful, I can actually play Man-to-Man now on defense.
  • The ball speed is good on passes, it gives a true, realistic time to react appropriately.
  • I'm pleased with the blocking, both run and pass. It just feels comfortable.
  • Presentation is great, I'm looking forward to what other presentation aspects there are. I'm getting kind of tired of the SB presentation in the demo, I find myself skipping through all of the pre-game stuff now.
  • Graphics look AMAZING!
That's all I can think of at the moment. Hopefully a lot of this stuff was addressed between the stage the demo is at and when the game went gold. If not, then hopefully a patch will help. And if not that, then oh well, this game is 10x better than 09...

...can't wait to play with the E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!

Has anyone noticed that Precision Passing does not work as well as in previous Maddens? Throwing left, right, high or low to the WR doesn't seem like it responds as well on this game. Sometimes it seems like it has no effect, sometimes itseems like it takes it to the extreme. I had the same experience on the NCAA 10 demo, but I just chalked that up to my not playing the NCAA games much. Figured it was just different.

Agreed. We don't need a running count of rushing yards, passing yards, etc. Just need the occasional update.

Couple of more observations after a few more games of Giants-Cowboys:

-- After years of disappointment, frustration and all-out rage regarding this series, I'm trying not to get too excited about this game. But the more I play the demo, the more I be digging it. I'm starting to feel like one those guys that counts down the days, hours, minutes until release.

-- The slower speed is perfect. Love being able to see holes open up, plays develop, cut back, change direction, etc.

-- Like how making a cut in the snow with Barber causes him to slip and fall.

-- Playing Giants vs. Giants, it was funny seeing Coughlin congratulate himself after the game.

You mean to say that your QB was off target on a throw? The passing in 2010 is excellent, to me.

I noticed that I was able to place the ball where I wanted with Warner much better than with Big Ben. And the ratings go along with that. Imagine that!

I agree. I played 1 game with the Cards and I just missed Fitz on an out patter as the pass went to the sidelins and out of bounds. I ran the play again and thought ok if I thrww it a bit earlier it should work and it did. I thought that was really cool.

is it just me, or are the colors a lot more accurate this year? i can't do a direct comparison, since i traded '09 in awhile ago. it seems that the grass is actually green this year. along with everything just having more of a pop to it.

You're assuming that that's the reason, and it very well might be, but I am not convinced as of yet.

i've noticed that warner is clearly more accurate. aside from ratings, how would you explain the difference?

Being that I have a PS3, I have not seen the Giants demo yet (that's right I said GIANTS demo lol), but I know that from last years game (not positive about the previous years) that the Giants blue was not accurate at all. It was too light. Are the unis more acurate this year or is it the same? I've seen vidz obviously, but I don't want to base an opinion off of that.

I know I've been giving the video stars a lot of crap, and I hate to do this because I do really like the demo, but I was just playing a game and this happened. Look at Ben's pass, his arm is moving one way and the pass goes another. I realize this is not the final build, but this should not happen, demo or not.

What would ratings have to do with Precision Passing working or not working? Whether Warner is more accurate than Ben shouldn't mean that when I push left on the Left stick to throw the ball to his left that it should go as straight as if I did not try to lead him. You want to say that he will lead him to much if he is not as accurate, that I will buy, but if I try to lead, even if it is too much, he should lead him. If not, what is the point of Precision Passing?

They could have executed that a little better, but collision detection has never been Tiburon's forte. Having said that, the ball goes the other way because he was hit in mid throw. The animation didn't convey it that great, but there was nothing wonky with that play.

Woah. That is some trickery by BR7.

Otherwise, I like the demo enough to buy the game for the first time in forever.

i've noticed that ben over leads sometimes. and if i push up, he throws it too high sometimes. i don't know why i'm getting different results than you are.
