Ok i cant stop playing these damn demo's. This game is rock'n
Its soooooooo much more fun to play with the presentation added. It just makes it feel "complete" now... even without the commentary in the demo believe it or not lol...i hope the commentary dont make it feel worse hehe as i know its 2nd rate commentary but i'll live with it, trust me. Making a TD and having the presentation celebrations kick in automatically with out me having to look for a blue box in the endzone or having to press a button for the celebration to kick in does wonders for the FLOW of this game...seriously, such a little thing makes a huge difference. NCAA dev's, please take note of this..seriously, i had a huge problem with when you scored a TD and your guy would just stand still as a statue ..it killed the overall flow of the game..now with Madden10..soon as you get passed that goal line..the game seamlessly in a very smooth way goes directly into a TD Celebration..such a huge improvement in the flow of the game and excitement of scoring.
One thing i want to point out that a few others have said, the 1 minute demo seems more polished then the gamestop demo. I can really tell..maybe its just the speed of the 1 minute demo being faster? I dont know..i can still run the rock just fine with the 1 minute demo, i can still see the holes open up with enough time for my brain and hand to react.
Anyways, every time i play these two demo's..it puts a BIG SMILE on my face, seriously. Im no giddy teeny bopper neither..im a 34 year old sports gamer that has finally seen the day where Madden has taken one HUGE step forward.
This again leaves me baffled with the negative cheap shots by some people in here..i cant stress enough in how much better this game is this year over previous years...which keeps me dumb founded each time someone jumps in and says the game sucks.
By the way.. the Depth of Field used in Madden10 is top notch. It really helps cover up the blemishes of using sprite based crowds..and gives the overall look of the game a very realistic looking game. The visuals as i said about 10 times in this thread are amazingly better then last year overall..helmets also are super sexy this year too.

Yeah the psychic ability of DBs gets old real fast, they jump a route before the WR is even making the cut. Maybe something that can be looked at through a patch.
Overall this demo hasn't really grabbed me and pulled me in. I thought I'd be playing this for a good portion of my free time yesterday. Instead, I played a few games then it was like meh. Every play has something that frustrates me - an OL seemingly lost and sporting a dumb blocking assignment, defenders with the ability to see behind their head, linebackers strangely running away from the ball carrier - only to see the ball carrier run toward him anyway and get tackled by the guy going in the wrong direction, poor pass rush by the DL in too many cases, outside runs getting stuffed right after handoff, suction blocking, the QB throwing a flare to the HB and it looks like a hail mary, too many CPU rushes for negative yards (I want to see them grind it out, not this feast or famine BS), poor momentum and issues with Pro-Tak, weird QB animations where the ball actually leaves his hand (as if it's fumbled) during the wind-up and as his arm moves forward the ball comes back into his hand.
All these issues combined obviously don't happen every play, but my point is that in nearly every play something happens where I just go "Uggh" and it takes away from the enjoyment of the game. If they can just give me 70% of the plays looking realistic without all this frustrating stuff I'd be happy.
Also, I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned QB sneaks - I almost broke off a 50 yard run with Kurt Warner.
I called the sneak, the ball snaps and my center bails on me! He was lined up dead on with the nose tackle but for some reason he ran to the right leaving me standing on an island facing head to head with the nose tackle! All I could do is forge ahead and try to pick up the few inches I need and to my surprise I charged right through the nose tackle. Then, from my right side the safety comes flying over and I bulled right past him to green pastures (everyone else was behind me now involved in the pile-up.) Unfortunately I went into a "trip" animation and ended up falling to the ground. I looked close at the replay and found out the reason I was able to pull off two broken tackles is because both defenders tried to strip the ball - they were not concerned about tackling me.
Other than that boy this demo plays slow. I called a double fade route with Bolden & Fitzgerald. Bolden was pressed but I timed Fitz (who was untouched) running a 4.4 25 at full speed - or 25 yards in 4.4 seconds. If you want to throw long you have sit back in the pocket and pick your nose, and if the WR's get bumped or pressed you might as well forget it because you'll get sacked or hit which makes the ball fly like a wounded duck in random locations. And people are screaming for increased pass rush? I don't know - it seems like that will screw up the deep game completely if the DL can get to the passer in 3 seconds (at least in this slow mode thing.)
And why wasn't this demo in normal speed? Oddball decision.

Both demos are on slow it better not play like this online or I will not buy it. That was horrid to play on that speed. Sorry but if anyone thinks 6 second 40 yd dashes = realistic in the nfl needs their head examined. BRUTAL!!

This illustrates a perfect point I have with the player models. Yes the graphics look great; amazing lighting, reflections, and textures, but the player models are scaled worse than even 09.
The stubby appearance they have in 2010 is very noticeable in the torso and arms, lack of length for both. Also notice how every player walks around with bent arm, they never let them dangle by their sides, that can contribute tho the lack of length. Plus they all seem to lack a neck, and helmets look wide in comparison to their bodies.

ok this slow mode is really pissing me off!!!!!!!! idk why they even did this it is stupid. the game would b much better if it was normal speed and yea all pro is simple all madden is impossible where is the middle ground between the 2. with some sliders however i think it will b fine. still wish i could buy 2Ks version. will buy on midnight it is worth it however.

That thing wit parker.
Reminded me of this.
As long as it's not happening too often and with only the players you expect that out of.

I'm loving this game so far. I'll take a broken tackle here and there over the garbage that has been releasing this next gen. This game isn't perfect but what game is? It the closest thing to real football to date.

The Texans one, Demeco is the only guy who legitimately tried to take him down with all his strength, but then just lost grip or whatever.
I've seen guys like Maurice Jones drew, he does this thing more often than others. The vid with Parker doesn't scream unrealistic to me. Because a lot of the best HBs power through or slip through tackles and make amazing plays on a weekly basis.
If you say 6 times in 15 games and Boldin and Parker were the guys doing it, that sounds about right imo.
Things like this though, it's hard to judge it based on a demo. A lot of this nitpicking stuff in general (not saing you're nitpicking at all) can only be judged when everyone gets their hands on it and when tons of people start saying "Too easy to break through a gang tackle." then you know it's a problem.

Ian,
If you are listening...you guys did a fantastic job and I will buy Madden for the first time since 2000. That's almost a decade. I played the demo yesterday about 4 times, the animations were very real and fun (Jacobs trucking through the D) and the AI is amazing. Very fluid game...with the exception of the slow speed (not a biggie, can be configured with retail release). I have no real big complaints on this demo. On that note, I really hate that stupid camera angle that shakes when you break away. It really sucks...but I dont really care about that...just had to throw that in.
I love when the QB is getting rushed and gets hit while throwing the ball, but still gets the pass off...the D has opportunity to intercept. Good stuff...
Keep up the good work!

I have to disagree. 10 looks more realistic. 09 forearms were too large.
I'm amazed at the progress EA has made. Well done Ian. I think I'll hold onto it this year.

soft on the L stick can get the job done.. 3rd and 2 and I pull through for the 1st:

well executed sequence. some may say that should be the norm and is so basic and I agree with that, but I thought it showed some positives in the run game. It has its moments and here, this one shines through
Nice emotion shown here on a big KR hit:

Yeah, I've seen plenty of comments and the people that are whining will still buy the game. They have NO choice because it's the only NFL football game available. LOL reminds me of Dave Chappelle's *****'s Ball.
Anyway, the fight for the fumble was full of win. I made the CPU fumble the first play of the demo yesterday...cracked him dead on. I like the fact that you have to press different buttons... its like the ball is moving around in the pile, like it does in real life.
