My first impression are that I absolutely LOVE the game speed. This feels very much like APF 2K8 (im sure this was said a lot already) but it's a good thing.

In Madden 09, I was a very good player (184-83), but in M10, I can't win a game on all-madden to save my life. I played as the Cards and will do so until I beat Pit. Polamalu is a freaking ballhawk and I was throwing pick after pick, but those deserved to be pics. I like how hard it is to user catch/pick. This was a real challenge because you cant just throw the ball all the time. In order to have success, you need a balanced attack. Wildcat was very fun to use as well.

I am very impressed with the direction of the franchise. Kudos to the Madden team. This is a day one purchase for me. I took the Friday and Monday of as well lol!

If you want to throw long you have sit back in the pocket and pick your nose, and if the WR's get bumped or pressed you might as well forget it because you'll get sacked or hit which makes the ball fly like a wounded duck in random locations. And people are screaming for increased pass rush? I don't know - it seems like that will screw up the deep game completely if the DL can get to the passer in 3 seconds (at least in this slow mode thing.)

And why wasn't this demo in normal speed? Oddball decision.
I doubt it's that slow. I'd try to confirm this myself but I'm at work currently. I remember playing the demo and it's slower than last year and NCAA but I didn't think it was that slow.

Donny, Phil, Anim8tor.. You guys did an incredible job. I cannot say enough about how excited I am to get my hands on the final version.

The menu screen SCREAMS no gimmicks. Have you ever fired up a game and knew it would be SICK just from the damn menu screen? Madden 10 does that

The cut-scenes are incredible. From the players to watch, to the time-out QB cut scenes - I was sitting there with my jaws dropped. It is incredible. The post play is just icing on the cake.. it is AWESOME! (Is there anyway to make the players to watch screen a little longer with good insight from the commentary in Madden 11? - I know you guys are redoing the commentary next year as well as locomotion, I am STOKED about that!)

The Gameplay is so much better than ANY of the Maddens i've played next gen. Though I am a huge critic of the generic run styles that plague Madden, the game feels so real and fine tuned its incredibly easy to bypass this issue all together. Seriously, it feels like a REAL GAME.

The crowd OMG.... OMG.... OMG... *faints* - First football game im sure I can play w/o any commentary... I really cannot say enough about the crowd noise, you guys NAILED IT.

Thank you man, seriously. Thank you!
You are spot on. I feel the same way. I think that this will be the Madden that officially returns me to the series.

I had to read your post twice to make sure it said what I thought it did.

Glad you're enjoying the demo man.

man,i have been trying to tell Ian about the bad camera cut aways for over a month now.. i seriously hope it gets fixed.

Last year it was just the field goal camera that cuts away, but now they did it for every single play.
This must be fixed.

This happens on every single play now, which is so annoying.
What bothers me so much about it, is that there is just no reason for any camera cutaways like this. It doesn't look like Sunday football on TV, and it adds nothing to the presentation.

When watching football on TV, i don't see the camera cut away during a field goal like this.

It should also be a relatively easy fix to remove it, so if Ian doesn't get rid of these camera cutaways on field goals, and after each play, it just makes this that much more frustrating.

If visiting and posting here at OS is important to you, you'd be doing yourself a big favor by moving along and avoiding this section of the forum. You've made your point, loud and clear. Nothing else really needs to be said.

Can someone who is a loser like me ( ) check the game speed for a realistic 40 time? Just run backwards with your RB and in roughly 4 and a half seconds you should be 40 some yards..

after playing 1 game of giants and cowboys, my initial impression is this:

-the same "Madden Identity", just slowed down. I think I like the game speed slowing down, but everytime u hear a real life running back speak about the hardest part of the NFL is adjusting to the speed of the game.
-presentation is better. I actually saw Romo with his helmet off and he looked good "no romo"
-the ability to throw from the pocket is there. its so natural, I didn't even pay it any mind.

it didn't wow me because its the same "Madden identity" and I may be growing tired of that. its a good game tho. that's it for now. I'll play more of the demo when I get home.

Will there be a way to turn off the breakaway camera? I hate how the camera starts to shake when you break into the open field. I don't see how this could possibly be thought of as cool to have in the game.

All they had to do was do a facial scan on Ian for this.

Played it and..

-Seems like way too many cut scenes, whatever you want to call it, seems like the camera is hardly ever on the field and they want to try to get to a cut scene asap. I dont HATE it, but at times it gets a little crazy and jumpy. I do HATE how it jumps to a cut scene before a play is fully over or right at the end of a tackle. Hopefully there is an option to turn this off maybe? How will this perform online with all those cut scenes? Hopefully it wont freeze as the chain gang comes out on the field..

-These guys try to break every single tackle. I mean obviously a RB would do so, but sometimes its nice sometimes it seems too much. If you have one defender trying to make a tackle good luck. You better wrap up.

-Just a personal opinion..but I don't like the camera when you drop back and trys to show the entire field, seems too far back. Forgot the name of it. There will be different options to turn that off right?

LMAO at "No romo"..but i agree...Im on the Ps3 and downloaded the demo and i feel that it is a good game and I will be happy to buy it..I like that they slowed down the game and love that you can actually sit in the pocket longer.

In the Giants/Dallas demo, is the wind backwards? Meaning I select to kick with the wind but then the meter shows me going against....

Maybe it's still early in the morning.

Ok, I didn't play Madden 09 at all and I bought 08 and played a couple games but thought the passing was broken so stuck with NCAA.

The Cowboys-giants demo impressed me. I like the passing and the speed of the game. I can throw lobs, bullets and over the middle without the super LB int. I LOVE the WR/DB interaction at the line on press coverage. Good risk/reward there b/c I've had my WR knocked off his timing route and I've thrown it to no one and I've had the WR win the battle and get behind the DB for a long completion. Playing on 1 mintue quarters sucks b/c I can't really get a feel for the running game. I will NEVER play as the giants, so Barber is the only RB I used. I found it tough to run, but not impossible.

I did have some problems getting a rush on Eli with the Cowboys base 3-4. I don't really have any bad impressions of the demo, but with only a couple games in and those only being 1 min quarters, I probably need more time to really evaluate the game.

I will say this is the first time in about 3 years that I've actually gotten excited over Madden. Online Franchise plus the new presentation aspects are gonna make this a first day purchase for me. Ian and company have really upgraded this year, imo.

Those are actually not cut scenes but post-play camera angles. My two biggest issues with the post-play situations are that they end too quickly, and that the camera allows players to drift off the screen without following them at least for a second or two before going back to playcall. You never see an empty shot on TV but in Madden we're now getting empty shots galore. It's annoying to see this. I'm dumbfounded as to how they let this happen. I actually consider this broken and I am very disappointed in that.

Player models look just fine to me.

Did Eli Manning change his hair color? It looks black in Madden 10. I thought his hair was lighter?

# 1099 IStillDoWhatIDo @ 07/24/09 10:14 AM
yea, I think one guy described Madden's player models as Gears of War like models. u know how its good graphics, but not uber real in texture. best player models are UFC and fight night 4..

# 1100 Who Dey15 @ 07/24/09 10:14 AM
player models are perfect, they outdid themselves this year.
