Now, complaining about cutscenes, warning beeps, and a player wrapping a player up instead of hitting him is a little overboard. As with any game, the devs may not get it done exactly the way everyone likes, but in this case, at least there's alot more in the game now, and done moderately well. But, I too am kinda shocked at some of these comments. I'm certainly not the most technical guy here, but this game seems to play a smooth, fun, sim game of football, finally. IMO, of course. They even got even got the toe drags, and hitting out of bounds right. I mean, c'mon. Not only did they get them right, but, everything happens so smoothly, and looks great (realistic)!

The QB makes perfect passes? What?! Personally, I've seen the QB throw as many misses as completions. I don't see any evidence of Robo QB. NONE. But, I understand knee-jerk reactions can be wrong. I believed in Madden 09...08..07, and 06. But, that was before I was really educated on the real problems. I had much less Madden knowledge before finding Apex, Moody, and others here. I'm using my eagle eye alot more these days. I appreciate those more technical than myself, especially for getting the word out about the games shortcomings. But this demo is very good, IMHO.
Agreed. If Warner gets hurt in your demo and Leinart comes in....you WILL see the difference immediately. From accuracy to overthrows, Leinart is all of the place. Good to see this!!

Yeah, It's not bad, depending on the ratings. It could use some more options next year though. Actually some guys on offense will be complaining with the retail version when some CB's press their WR's at the line for 5 seconds and send a blitz with it and you basically have to eat it or just throw it up with nobody open LOL.

Totally disagree. Watched Fitzgerald and Taylor jostle for position on a deep pass, it was great. Saw Hines and Ralph Brown do the same, NEVER saw that in previous editions.

I sacked the QB 3 times in the Cowboys/Giants demo, 2 with Ratliff, 1 with Spears. I am a below average Madden player I reckon and I don't think there's ANY WAY you can have worse skills than me.

I bet if you keep playing you'll get some pressure. Play the Cards/Steelers demo, the longer quarters give you a MUCH better impression of the game.

lol like the self confidence. yea, i only played the demo twice, i was all for slowing down the speed of the game but man...that was waay too slow. i know the full game will be better than the 1 minute demo

and i dont have the 5 min demo cause i dont think imma buy madden this year...maybe next. ill rent it though from gamefly

Anyone notice Leinart has short sleeves on under his jersey?

All you equipment nerds (like me) must be getting all turned on.

Wish NCAA would add this seeing as how many players wear them now.

I was faced with this yesterday...[resulted in an incomplete pass]

its just frustrating because this gen they started out about 10 steps back from the ps2/xbox maddens and they're just now catching up. the franchise should have progressed a lot farther than it is right now IMO, even graphically it wasn't up to par to last gen until this year, the past player models, faces and all that were hideous
I agree that this gen Madden games should have progressed much farther than it has. However, I can't discredit the effort made based off the demo. I feel as though the current consoles have so much hidden power that devs should be able to tap into their potential by now. And Madden is no exception. It's more of a decision to release minor tweaks and ugprades for the sake of business to keep the franchise running along. I still think a new engine is needed to really capture the natural movements of the players.

yea, exactly, a new engine is definitly needed but sadly won't happen anytime soom

it still looks like a video game. they need more fluid player movemets and such, especially when it comes to blocking and running and turning

WOW! Color me impressed. Barring any major bugs/glitches, this game is probably gonna be the best Madden ever IMHO. I am a huge NCAA guy (last gen, not this gen) and have always preferred NCAA to Madden, but this years Madden looks to blow NCAA out of the water. I know there are some that either don't like or just need to get used to the slower speed of the demo, but I really liked how the game played on the slower speed. I will definitely be testing game speed sliders to find the right speed for me... and that's the best part. WE GET TO TUNE THE GAME SPEED TO OUR PERSONAL PREFERENCE. Obviously, the presentation is the best ever seen on any Madden game and it makes a huge difference in the immersion factor... world's better than NCAA. I've gone from being pretty pessimistic, to cautiously optimistic, to now being really exciting for Madden 10.

All codes have been distributed, however if I receive anymore I will let you know and send out a message. To those that received the codes enjoy a good demo. Because I am since I haven't truly played Madden since 2005 edition...

Thanks for the response LB. That's the one thing that's always bugged me about the pass rush. The outside rush is missing and that's a big omission. Plus it usually works better (past history anyways) to always fake outside and then come back inside. I'd like the pass rush to be more balanced.

The more I play it, the more I like it. I'm seeing double team blocks, often driving the defender into the ground on running plays. I just saw one where one blocker held the point up high, and the other took out the DT at the waste. I had to stop and watch the replay 4 or 5 times just to admire the animation and how it's going to effect the running game.

You can feel the weight and strength of the runner in the collisions. Hopefully each will feel different, I've mostly used Barber to this point.

Little touches like Romo slipping in the snow on his drop back, defenders rushing in WITH THEIR ARMS UP to block the pass. The game is good, people. It's a good year for football games.

Loving the throwing motions. Every QB feels different. What a great job.

I'm impressed by the Demo. At least I can see that there have been changes and improvements to 2010 over 09 because it feels like Madden but its challenging having to adjust to the new game play.
The thing I was the most impressed with is overal graphic improvements and the way the QBs throw the ball now. It actually looks and feels like you are throwing a pass. I love how LBs and Dbs now swat at the ball and players jump sideways now instead of straight up like on Madden 09. The lob and over the shoulder passes are sweet. The passing game is much improved now flares and screens work a lot better and the receiving animations are much improved.
The thing least impressive was the running game. EA seems unable to get run blocking, running lanes, and running collisions right. It never feels like your runner has any weight or momentum. I've played RB my whole life and when your running your normally leaning forward and using a digging motion but on Maden its almost like all the players are on a sheet of glass on top of the field. I would also love to see a crack back block from a receiver while running a sweep where he absolutely lays a LB or DE out. I do like the fact that your RB can now reach the corners on sweeps and outrun DEs and LBs but running through lanes, contact and collisions in traffic need some work. RBs natrually make themselves smaller when running through traffic in anticipation of contact, the same with wide receivers when they make a catch in traffic coming across the middle. Also, right before contacts runners will lift and dip their shoulders in hopes of trucking defenders and the juke moves and spin moves look unrealistic.
Overall I will say that this is a huge step in the right direction at least we've seen change and growth and the presentation, graphics, and gameplay is better than last year and again this is only the demo so I'm thinking the game itself will be a big improvement...holla!

Just had a nice Pro-Tak tackle pile. I don't know how anyone could not like that. It went so smoothly. Way better than what I've seen in the vids.

Ickey Woods was a big dude in his playing days, but in APF he looked like he was on a steady diet of air and crack.

2K themselves acknowledged their failure on this, and I was told that when they were going into production for APF 2K9 that fixing the player models was a top priority. Of course, APF 2K9 was cancelled in production so we'll never know how it turned out.

I don't think any football game has done a better job with player models than what we have right now in Madden. Now this of course is all a matter of opinion, but proportions aren't so much, as they can be accurately gauged against real life and in this regard APF failed miserably among other enormous failures.
I hated the player models in APF, when I first saw them in the Informer magazine. I was disgusted by it. Fortunately, I am no graphic wh#%^, and I focused on the gameplay. That's what mattered and they nailed that aspect down, with some flaws of course.
