NCAA FOOTBALL 10 DEMO AVAILABLE TODAY

Fans Awaiting the Release of NCAA Football 10
Create Over 80,000 Custom Teams via TeamBuilder

June 18, 2009 –Electronic Arts is proud to announce that the demo of NCAA Football 10 is available today for Xbox 360 and PS3. Fans who download the free demo will experience all-new gameplay features including:
  • Defensive Keys—Prior to the snap during the pre-play, hold the left trigger while pressing the analog stick in the direction you think will stop the run. If you think the offense will pass the ball, press upward. Or, you can press the icon associated with a receiver (X, Y, A, B, LB, RB) to spotlight that individual. This will focus the defense on making sure that the chosen offensive player does not make a play.
  • Defensive Player Assist—By holding A (on 360) or X (on PS3) on defense your player will be put under CPU control so you have time to read a play and decide the best course of action.
  • Enhanced Defensive Lineman Moves—With new animations, take control of your defensive linemen using the right stick to fight pass blocks and put pressure on the quarterback.
  • Gameplanning—There are six defensive and five offensive individual game planning options, or you can globally set your offense and defense. Each option changes the way your team will perform. For example, be aggressive and try and strip the ball every time and you run the risk of getting more facemask penalties.
  • Player Lock—Player lock allows you to lock on to a specific player in order to control that position during the play. When you lock on you'll get a whole new camera angle that puts you closer to the action.
  • Set Up Plays—Set up plays allows you to run one play in order to set up another. When picking a play, you will notice that some plays have a chain link between them, which indicates that one play can set up the other. Every time you use one particular play throughout the game, you are setting up for the play that is chain linked to it. Once the play is 100% set up (as shown in your playbook), the defense is at its highest likelihood to fall for that play action.
  • 1000 new animations like throw out of a sack, new shotgun snaps/hand-offs, WR/DB interactions, tackles, double team run blocks, catches, broken tackles, and slipping in bad weather.

I like player lock, gives us the PS2 special teams view. I like the drop back mechanics of the QB and the feel of the pocket. I must say I like playing with Floridas QB.

I am tired of the snap over the Qb's head and being ruled an incomplete. I am tired of the clock not starting until you snap the ball after a first down.

To me it feels like cement shoes linebackers and Qb's are gone. It seems that DL are quicker this year.

Right now I am leaning toward buying it. Hopefully these few annoinances are fixed in the final version.

so if the teams created early in teambuilder will they be ok?

I had much more success getting a pass rush by using the defensive keys and picking pass in the obvious situations (PS3) Dunlap was player of the game with 2 sacks, also forced 3 bad throws by getting their a split second late.

Has anyone else seen a difference in play by using the defensive keys?

Yes. That and your conservative, normal, and aggressive settings.

Ive played 8 games so far, all using the gators..im going to give OU some quality run now.

I've had some decent success controlling Dunlap..and have been able to get some disruption and a some user sakcs..but Im not a big fan of the right stick to do the moves..it doesnt seem fluid.

Pull the L2 trigger (PS3) or L trigger (360) and they will pop-up for you.

You can highlight a receiver and either choose run right, run mid, run left or play for the pass.

I like this a lot. Another element of strategy.

This took damn near a day to download, but when it finally did I was impressed with somethings and a little unsure on a few others.
The graphics definitely look a lot better, tackle animation are great (although you can notice the recycled ones from years past over and over again). The passing game has been improved as my passes over the middle weren't intercepted by a linebacker with a 75 inch vertical leap and i felt like when I aimed a pass it went where I wanted it to go.
Things I still don't like: No team entrances or pre-game actions, no animations after a win. I am also not sure about how I feel about the pre-snap play view being straight down on the field, made the whole action seem to jerky and confusing at times.

Overall I liked it and hope they fix some minor bugs before shipping.

I have enjoyed the Demo so far, it only makes me more excited for the game arriving at my house.

I like the new animations during play, i like how the QB will throw the ball away (with very little accuracy!) when he is being sacked and the ball just goes to the ground or its a lazy lob to no one (or to a DE in one of my cases), the player lock is great, I really look forward to using that more. The strategy thing popping up before each half and after each timeout can be annoying (i just haven't utilized it yet, maybe i'll like it if i use it).

correct me if I'm wrong, but one time when I was on defense, right after i picked a play and it went to the field, it looked like on of my LBs (Spikes) did an animation as if he was buttoning his chin strap (even though i know the strap is always on, he jsut moved his hands as if thats what he was doing)...if that is so, thats cool, i've never noticed that before.

Someone please tell me the Rocket Catch is not in NCCA 10. Please

Im convinced robo QB is alive and well. The cpu scans the field and finds the open receiver with no problem. Blitz him, and hes throwing the ball away without intent to complete a pass. Its insane. I get the felling Every Qb will be like Peyton Manning, which was the problem last year. The minute a receiver is open, they are getting the ball out on time and on point. There is an awareness rating am I correct? Why isnt it being applied to cpu QBs? Low awareness should mean poor coverage recognition, high awareness means elite coverage recognition thus getting the ball out quicker. But no...cpu qbs are programmed to get the ball out in less than 2-3 seconds on the regular. Which quite frankly....isnt realistic football.

look at this video here. the guy obviously has all of his blocking schemes on aggressive. If you havent noticed the best way to run the ball on the demo is to do what he is doing. However, that shouldnt be the case. I pray that the coaching schemes wont be too powerful.

That's really depressing that Rocket Catches are in this game. Its going to make me not play online

Ok the more I play it the more I can't stand those shaky camera angles, maybe some of you guys like it or think it's cool or etc etc..but it irritates the hell out of me.

# 756 mattbooty @ 06/20/09 10:16 PM
FYI, I think it was mentioned before, but to the people saying the AI shouldn't be able to call back to back timeouts, that is NOT the rule in NCAA (NFL only)... although i don't understand why it is happening so often in the game, and I think the frequency is a glitch, it is NOT illegal in NCAA. (michigan state did this to PSU last year late in the 4th quarter when down by 30+ points and 3rd stringers on the field, much to the chagrin of the crowd standing in 10 degree weather).

But still, it makes no sense for the AI to be doing it when they do, so I do think there is a glitch involved.

I didn't like them, it doesnt zoom in enough. I also think the game catches too many of the over the shoulder catches, uses that animation too much.

probably been mentioned somewhere, but did anyone hear lee corso's audio at the end of the game where he messes up and starts over. is that planned or is it a mistake? just heard it thought it was weird

This game is just like I predicted it to be around March when I said the weekly updates were weak and after playing the demo I realized this game could have killed if it wasnt so fast paced. They should have slowed it down like the madden team did.

There are killer new animations that make the gameplay look better but the speed takes away from the beauty of the animations.

The no presentation is killing me the game that needed it the most didnt get nothing no refs, no chain gain, and even no coaches on the sideline not even a fake coach???

The only thing that tells you this is 10 instead of 09 is....

Well the rosters changed, there is a net, and after the play the players celebrate closer to the camera but the exact same celebrations didnt add a one that was different.

Overall this game will be a good enough buy if they celebrate after wins and loses and for God sakes a national championship celebration. If this dont make it in there is really no need to buy this just rent for the draft classes thats if you dont want to use the cool draft classes madden has created.

Really the game has made some changes but it really isnt enough to get truly excited about its truly the same game with a few new animations(which are great).

Good to see this stuff is back.
