NCAA FOOTBALL 10 DEMO AVAILABLE TODAY

Fans Awaiting the Release of NCAA Football 10
Create Over 80,000 Custom Teams via TeamBuilder

June 18, 2009 –Electronic Arts is proud to announce that the demo of NCAA Football 10 is available today for Xbox 360 and PS3. Fans who download the free demo will experience all-new gameplay features including:
  • Defensive Keys—Prior to the snap during the pre-play, hold the left trigger while pressing the analog stick in the direction you think will stop the run. If you think the offense will pass the ball, press upward. Or, you can press the icon associated with a receiver (X, Y, A, B, LB, RB) to spotlight that individual. This will focus the defense on making sure that the chosen offensive player does not make a play.
  • Defensive Player Assist—By holding A (on 360) or X (on PS3) on defense your player will be put under CPU control so you have time to read a play and decide the best course of action.
  • Enhanced Defensive Lineman Moves—With new animations, take control of your defensive linemen using the right stick to fight pass blocks and put pressure on the quarterback.
  • Gameplanning—There are six defensive and five offensive individual game planning options, or you can globally set your offense and defense. Each option changes the way your team will perform. For example, be aggressive and try and strip the ball every time and you run the risk of getting more facemask penalties.
  • Player Lock—Player lock allows you to lock on to a specific player in order to control that position during the play. When you lock on you'll get a whole new camera angle that puts you closer to the action.
  • Set Up Plays—Set up plays allows you to run one play in order to set up another. When picking a play, you will notice that some plays have a chain link between them, which indicates that one play can set up the other. Every time you use one particular play throughout the game, you are setting up for the play that is chain linked to it. Once the play is 100% set up (as shown in your playbook), the defense is at its highest likelihood to fall for that play action.
  • 1000 new animations like throw out of a sack, new shotgun snaps/hand-offs, WR/DB interactions, tackles, double team run blocks, catches, broken tackles, and slipping in bad weather.

The decrease won't be enough to rule out the "struggling economy" card and sales will likely meet expectations on a corporate level. It also seems like a lot of resources were pooled into Madden this year and that game should easily make up for NCAA's deficit.

This game has gotten high reviews (09's were deserved) the last few seasons. Those definitely play a role in swaying anyone on the fence. Critic scores in the six to seven range, along with a MetaCritic score in the 60s/70s, should warrant some pressure (and a bigger budget) for next year's game.

Anyone hoping for an improved product should be pulling for low scores from the IGNs and Gamespots of the gaming community. It sounds harsh, but those numbers make a huge impact on sales and the corporate string pullers.

I totally understand what he's saying. problem is Player LOCK is doing exactly what it says. LOCKING you to a single player. He wants to switch players during the play and that's not what player lock is about. So while it would be cool to allow the switching that would defeat the purpose (and the name) of player lock.

I hear what you are saying Sky...but the point is, how about make a game where common logic rules. Sure, have an option for pure player lock. We all get the concept of player lock. You are that player, for that play. Lock it up. But how about strive for an even better gameplay option. How about have that option to be who ever you want, with that player lock camera option, but then if you totally out of the play, have an option getting back into the play as the closest player...SUCH AS IF YOU ARE PLAYING THE LINE AND THERE IS A SUCCESSFUL PASS!!!

My hope in that, and I wish Dev and programmers would hark on this...BUT THINK OUTSIDE THE FREAKING BOX. Stop cornering options and gameplay to the same routine things, only that way will you truly make a game with great options all would enjoy. I think we could all agree this series could use some thinking from a view point that is outside the box.

Like some of the old ones or the ariel ones from the older Gen games?.....Are there customizable cameras???

If not?....Why not? We've been asking for multiple camera settings for years now and every sport has it...why doesnt football?

And am I confused about Create a Team being a NEW Feature?...wasnt this a feature in previous versions of NCAA?...I could have sworn that I created my own customized schools and placed them in my Dynasty. Am I missing something?
It's 100% new for the current systems as it was never added. Plus, I think it's fair to call it "new" overall, as teambuilder is FAR more advanced than the old CAS system was. Not only more options, but the ability to do all your work on the CPU and then import the school is huge for the feature.

All that said, it becomes moot if you don't enjoy playing the actual game unfortunately.

Bah..not too stoked with this demo..they really need to re-do their lacking presentation...madden team has totally bent over backwards on this dept..its time for a total revamp for NCAA football now..the gameplay seems better..but its still feels too much like 09...i know i wont be saying this with M10

I understand the idea of player lock is PLAYER LOCK, but you could make it much more engaging if on a pass pattern, after a completion or as soon as the pass is made, the camera switches back to the normal cam.

Follow?
I think you should just stay away from player lock if that's what you're looking for and your quote really sounds like you want to switch player control

CONS:

1. Playerlock Cam. On defense the biggest problem with this is if you are Dlineman, and its a passing play. For all intensive purposes, you are done if the pass gets off. For as great as the views are, you need to be able to switch the nearest defender

Well I know have pretty upset at first with the demo, but after plying more and making my first video, I will post later, The game maybe growing on me, yes there are issue that need to be fixed that's why I will play 09 until then, and then just maybe I may buy.

Im just going to voice my personal problems with the demo, because the things I liked were most likely the same things as everyone else.

1. Player Movement: It is still very slow and choppy
2. Running the Football: IS SO HARD! NOONE BLOCKS AT ALL! I understand we are playing against some good defenses but come on! On a positive note the passing game ran quite smoothly

same here. it feels like a little bit of updated graphics with the same 09 feel. also i don't know but it seem like ncaa 10 took the back seat so madden can step to the forefront cause for years( as long as i can remember) ncaa vs. madden, ncaa wins hands down. this yr though ncaa will be a rental for me. I just can't see myself dumping 60 bucks into a 09 title with updated graphics and a few minor and i do mean minor tweaks.

Don't sprint until you get past the LOS. It helps a lot with the running game.

Everytime the ball hits the ground the defense picks it up and runs with it the other way......need to fix that.

# 713 PanthersFanboy @ 06/20/09 02:20 AM
does the ball spin on the 360, because it dosen't on the ps3. its like the qb is throwing it on a rope

# 714 murdamann10 @ 06/20/09 03:28 AM
I dunno what the fuss is all about. Ive played about 3 games of the demo so far and love it. Loving the new angles, the only problem with the game is OL/DL interaction and tackling. Other than that i think i will buy the game

Are you freaking serious? They didn't fix this? The only version I can get is the PS3 one and I'm 95% sure I won't bother. Things like this may seem trivial but they accumulate and just smash any chance of real immersion. 09 was the first time I had played NCAA Football (I'm from Australia, its not released here) and I was bored and disillusioned within a month. Its sad because obviously veterans of this series hold past versions in very high regard.

Well technically, it does spin, but just not very much. I threw a 50 yd TD in the back of the endzone, and on the replay the ball rotated about 4-5 times....which to me might as well not spin at all.

# 717 Guffers @ 06/20/09 04:45 AM
Well technically it did spin on long passes last year as well...it spun the wrong way. Sigh... Thanks for the info stoncold.

Just saw a glitch where the CPU snapped the ball over Bradford's head and it was an incomplete pass?? This has now happened twice.

--Hate the new Coach Cam, I think it's too high up
--I feel like the cameras just move too much, gotta get used to that
--Action cam tilted so I couldn't see my outside WR screen on one play.
--Why is the OU kicker wearing gray sleeves??
-- I think Riley Cooper's half sleeves are gray instead of white too

--I love what they did with Florida's playbook--lots of cool plays that they actually run. Just wish the run blocking worked a bit better.
--Also just wish they would put the same time into other team's playbooks. I think only Florida and the Wishbone had major updates.

--With player lock On, I was the DE and Tebow ran right past me while I got sucked in with the OLineman.

--Clock still runs when guys run out of bounds, but it stops on first downs and STAYS stopped even after the ball is set.

Anyone else try running Dime - Man Press and bump the receivers? Tebow throws it so quick it either hits the back of a wr or isn't anywhere near a Fla wr. I ran this same play over and over and Tebow/Fla had no answer for it. Kind of sad.

I actually like this gameplay a tad more, but the above situation really sucks and I hope it's not that easy to stop the cpu in the retail game.

This glitch happened to me last game too. With Bradford, no less.
