NCAA FOOTBALL 10 DEMO AVAILABLE TODAY

Fans Awaiting the Release of NCAA Football 10
Create Over 80,000 Custom Teams via TeamBuilder

June 18, 2009 –Electronic Arts is proud to announce that the demo of NCAA Football 10 is available today for Xbox 360 and PS3. Fans who download the free demo will experience all-new gameplay features including:
  • Defensive Keys—Prior to the snap during the pre-play, hold the left trigger while pressing the analog stick in the direction you think will stop the run. If you think the offense will pass the ball, press upward. Or, you can press the icon associated with a receiver (X, Y, A, B, LB, RB) to spotlight that individual. This will focus the defense on making sure that the chosen offensive player does not make a play.
  • Defensive Player Assist—By holding A (on 360) or X (on PS3) on defense your player will be put under CPU control so you have time to read a play and decide the best course of action.
  • Enhanced Defensive Lineman Moves—With new animations, take control of your defensive linemen using the right stick to fight pass blocks and put pressure on the quarterback.
  • Gameplanning—There are six defensive and five offensive individual game planning options, or you can globally set your offense and defense. Each option changes the way your team will perform. For example, be aggressive and try and strip the ball every time and you run the risk of getting more facemask penalties.
  • Player Lock—Player lock allows you to lock on to a specific player in order to control that position during the play. When you lock on you'll get a whole new camera angle that puts you closer to the action.
  • Set Up Plays—Set up plays allows you to run one play in order to set up another. When picking a play, you will notice that some plays have a chain link between them, which indicates that one play can set up the other. Every time you use one particular play throughout the game, you are setting up for the play that is chain linked to it. Once the play is 100% set up (as shown in your playbook), the defense is at its highest likelihood to fall for that play action.
  • 1000 new animations like throw out of a sack, new shotgun snaps/hand-offs, WR/DB interactions, tackles, double team run blocks, catches, broken tackles, and slipping in bad weather.

Yea I thought perhaps I'd buy the game afterall - basically just to mess around and have fun playing different positions. However, it's just too frustrating to get sucked into these animation vacuumes. Bah!

I agree with a poster a couple pages back - spend a year on gameplay and nothing else. I could care less about all of the cute modes available if I don't want to play the game.

I downloaded it on both systems to see if there was a difference. To me there was no discernable difference. The fan animations are horrible! Why do they even waste time panning the camera across the crowd close up? After my first touchdown it panned the crowd and they were all standing sideways! Absolutely attrocious.

On a side note I played Heisman (normally I play on Varsity or AA at most) on both to see how I do. On the PS3 it felt much easier than on the 360. I don't think that much could be attributed to the controllers either. Anyone else notice anything like this?

downloading rite now but i was wondering if anyone could tell me how long the quarters are?

game is still too fast and frantic - arcadeish

i love the player lock feature but it's near impossible to play corner/safety and defend the pass because the game is so frantic

weight/strength/momentum still mean nothing

still not enough control with the left stick - it's either run or stop, no ability to break down and cut and what not - arcadeish

game will be fun for ppl that dont care about these things tho

still no dreads? (minor gripe for the last 4yrs)

To me they looked about the same. I have a 40" 1080p Samsung. My 360 is older so it is connected via VGA while the ps3 is hdmi. Both run at 1920 x 1080 though. The 360 might have been slightly darker, but I only noticed it at the beginning when it was panning the stadium and I could see the night sky.

The Madden dev team has raised the bar for the NCAA dev team to show what dedication, attention to detail, and how much can be added/improved in one year. They really make the NCAA team look like they're sleepwalking through another dev cycle. The lack of attention to detail like rosters, turnovers in 08, wide open bull sh1t in 09 scream complacency and pure laziness. Oh, the game shipped with broken sliders last year, they were "patched", and now they're broken again this year. WHY should anyone have faith in this dev team? If you guys were any other business, your credibility would be in the can. What would you have left?
I like this.

I was highly disappointed with the demo! One of my main gripes is the audio! The crowd chants sound like midgets chanting defense. Also the graphics look very cartoonish

ps3 version is not running in 1080p it's running in 720p.

Hey Solidice, do you think because this is a demo the graphics (x-box 360)are not as smooth as the final copy? I have heard different opinions about this just wanted to know what you think?
to me it didn't look too different than '09 on my TV. it's possible that the demo is not using anti-aliasing though, so it's not as sharp.

Anybody know what button to press while controlling a D lineman in order to jump the snap? Also..what's the button for Defensive assist?

# 674 ZB9 @ 06/19/09 05:40 PM
Glitch found! They called OU for holding (that never happens in real life)

Jump snap is pushing down on the right stick. I found that out by mistake.

Not sure about DA though.

I've only played a couple games but I don't feel like playing any more. For as much as EA blabs about player control you sure don't feel like you have control in this game. No analog movement, you can only cut and turn at certain angles, there seems to be a slight delay to any command you input. The passing still feels on rails like it has the last several years, at least LBers can't leap out of their jocks now.

Most of us knew the running/transition animations wouldn't be very good, and they aren't. There's also these new (I think) "spin tackle" animations that happen almost every play.

Graphics/presentation wise seems about the same as last year, except now with marching band. And why is there still lag in the play call screen?

The only positive things I can think of is the pursuit angles being fixed and the aggressive/safe play stuff is sort of neat.

Bottom line this just isn't very fun or exciting. I'd really like to see someone else get a shot at this series, it feels like these guys are just running down the home stretch.

Downloaded and played 3 games...my take.

Pros:
1. I think I like the gameplay alot more than last year. Even though some people are saying the players lack responsiveness, I like this a little better. Seems like its a little more true to real running as you can't cut this way or that in a nano second. Momentum feels more involved..you can still make your cuts and jukes but you really have prepare for it and have the spacing to do them. I thought last year's jukes where a little unrealistic as it was like doing figure skating out there

2. Passing game feels 20 times more improved. Feels much more natural. Can air it out, and it will actually look like you give the pass some loft...or your can gun it in there. But the guns are not perfect 90% of the time like last year. The WR's catching the ball seems much better as well.

3. CPU pass rush is much more improved. My pass rush blew, but it was cause I can't pass rush all that well.

4. Really like the player lock cam, mostly on defense. Great new perspectives playing defense.

5. Speed of the game / player is much better than last year. For whatever reason, slowing down these football games is paying off.

CONS:

1. Playerlock Cam. On defense the biggest problem with this is if you are Dlineman, and its a passing play. For all intensive purposes, you are done if the pass gets off. For as great as the views are, you need to be able to switch the nearest defender.

2. CAMERA's!!! I am sorry, but the biggest gripe you read from me is this. IF THIS GAME HAS THE ABILITY TO HAVE A ROVING CAMERA FROM ANY PLAYER POSITION ARE YOU TELLING ME WE CAN NOT HAVE A SIMPLE BROADCAST CAM??? The lines of there are bugs is simply pointless to me now. It comes down to lazy production and lack of creating a quality product. Shame on you EA...shame on you

3. Had 09 on the 360, but got the demo on the PS3. The graphics are worse, but its not like they are horrible. But still, not reason for the drop in the visuals. Hopefully this is just a demo thing.

4. PRESENTATION. You have to be kidding me. Seriously, one of the greatest games in all the world with all the pageantry and there isn't even like a half time show? I like the new overlays and actually showing the cpu generated faces of players for stats and stuff...but seriously...WAKE UP ON THE PRESENTATION. This is the same game of the last 3 years...nothing new in this department. Do you really expect people to keep buying this? I have nothing else to say as there is no presentation to speak of.

Overall, looks like 09.50. Got the game play tighter, got some new fonts in the overlay and toned down the speed of the game. Does this warrant a purchase? If you got some new camera's in...maybe, specifically broadcast...but other than that...I will wait till they actually try on making this game stand out again.

Not impressed at all with the Demo. EA saved me $60 bones. I'll use the generic draft rosters in Madden. Why are the two games so far apart in development efforts? EA almost had me with the Ultimate Grand Slam in Video Games, but now Madden, Fight Night, and Live will be my only purchases this year. ($180) Dang....they still got me though.

# 679 Champ24 @ 06/19/09 05:50 PM
I really liked the demo, playing it for what it is and not picking every last thing apart. Players do lack responsiveness but overall I had fun playing the game. Still not going to buy it because I want to put the little time I have into playing Madden but this game is a definite upgrade over 09.
