I like the cutscenes too, but like someone else noted, they go to the cutscenes way too early during a tackle. They need to let the play end fully first.

I thought the video looked good, not great..seemed edited way too much to get a true feel of the game. I'll save my judgement 'til I see more during E3.

woow, you guys are desperate. imo, that video showed me nothing. just a few plays and everyone sees these so called improvements. madden 09 even had its moments when it played like a feel football game. this is no different. aside from the presentations, the game looked not different. til i get my hands on this game, i'm not convinced...

That's not 'in the game'. I still haven't bought a snickers bar going on 2 years later due the snickers advertising in Madden '08 on the PSP.

Don't have time to dissect the game play tonight, the presentation looks better, but the announcers seem the same as last year.

One big disappointment for me after seeing more game play is that it doesn't look like Route Based passing is in the game. That feature alone (from APF2K8) has ruined other football games for me. Without it, I don't think I will be able to enjoy the game. Passing is half the game, and I won't be able to enjoy the passing game without it.

The Snickers advertisements have to be shown because EA Sports have a contract with them.

Great way to put it. Bumper cars.

And yes, the animations of the players are horrible. Not even close to the real thing. This is bizarre to me. After all these years EA still can't have their football game moving more realistically.

Do you think every year the fine folks at EA flip a coin to decide whether or not to make the animations look real and we, the gamers, have had bad luck because the coin always comes up "NO!"??

JerseySuave4 - Actually, I'm not big on online gaming myself. I just thought I'd post that since I waited for that big announcement and thought some would really enjoy hearing that. They also had more game footage, too. I'm going through my DVR recording now...wait, it's after 12. I'll just get it off GT, instead, since my Spike TV is NOT in effin' HD. Damn Fios..

Then you add it in a way that's part of the game. As a banner, or as a 'sponsored by' commentary during the half time or replay show. You don't just put blatant ads in your game. That's ad ware, not a video game.

To build on? TO BUILD ON?!?! For the love of God man! EA has been "BUILDING" this game for 20 years!!

WHEN are they going to get there?
Wouldn't argue there. That's half the problem. It's still Madden. But here's what's hard for me and I'm really trying to keep in context. I watched Fifa go from 07 to 09. I watched basically a new game get built and added onto from the ground up this gen. With Madden it's cutting and adding stuff onto the same Madden. It's kinda painful to watch, but I'm keeping this all in perspective. Madden can't ever take a cycle off and will be hard pressed to change the game too radically, unless they do it gradually. One, there's the fanbase who wants "Madden", not 2k. They have to be gradually sold on the changes. Second, this takes time and is being done on the fly. Third, I have to remember that every other game that I love has a three year head start, basically.

So I have these post that sound torn. That's how I really feel. I'm hoping that this years game will be enough to keep me playing, but have no illusions that it'll be bliss. I'm just worrying how this game will be viewed against full versions of Fight Night, NHL and Fifa. Right now it seems to be hot, but even sitting here watching the new non-sports games on the Spike preview Madden seems to still be behind the curve. And it's not even really sports gaming season. UFC is hot. Fight Night will be hot. Madden really has to get into fighting shape real quick. I'm keeping personal hope alive, but am really just not sure right now. Only thing I'm sure of is that Ian is the best thing they've had going for them and that there will be no other NFL game this year! As to how long it'll take who knows?

P.S. I did say that the commentary was really killing it for me.

I wish my 360 had Adblock Plus.

I think that video was from an early build. I'm sure it'll be corrected before release.

really? what does it mean then? other than it being their logo and being placed in the center of the field just as the other 31 teams have their logo. Your saying it means more?

It's nothing like 2K's wonderful engine. And it will never be-which is quite sad. Okay, very sad.
Its nothing like the last gen engine which was much bettter than this one. It isnt even a matter of comparing it to another comapnies game. I am comparing it to itself.

Ian did say that build was a few weeks old and that it already felt dated to him, in a tweet about it.

Strongly depends on what you personally expect from this game. It's obvious from many posts here every day that many strongly disagree.

Is it really that hard to take your finger off the shift key?

I just know that the top of the star is supposed to point to the cowboys bench.

Honestly this is one of those things that makes me wonder how they get it wrong in the first place. Do they look at the reference and still manage to get it wrong, like the Redskins helmet?

I'm happy a lot of this stuff is caught by us or the art guys themselves, but it makes me wonder how much stuff isn't going to get fixed.

I didnt see the momentum or noticable change in accellaration either. Also, players flipped directions and turned on a dime. This has been such a downer to madden for me. I hope some form of momentum gets added in. Variable speed seems obvious, but I doubt we get it.

I'm sorry but after watching the vid I'm not impressed. Like others have mentioned it looks like 09. Its sad when the best part of the game are the cutscenes. The players just dont look right. The players in "the other football game " were twice the size. EA needs a whole new game engine cuz this one is old.
