I agree and i think the team knows its needs a redo but they obviously had bigger fish to try (i also think the huge meter this is overdramatic for something that means so little).

are they blowing it out at e3. the whole game and all the presentation or will they still be holding back stuff after e3?

Presentation is my most sought after reveal then comes online league info.

What LBz said is right on -- there needs to be a tighter, quicker forming pocket. And against the run, the dline stunts need to actually stunt and slide based on your call.

Also, the reason the running looks so stiff is because the running backs lack transition animations and realistic acceleration.

They should take the handoff and gradually get up to speed, with route-running-esque transition animations to show this. Instead, the runner gets the ball and immediately stands up like he's all alone -- seemingly at full speed after only a couple strides.

Just FYI, Ian said on his Twitter that Pro-Tak for the pocket is not "on" for the IGN video. It's old, and they know that that exact complaint is an issue. It's fixed now.

Cowboys fans are funny.

What will they do when they finally realize the Cowboys star is flat and the world doesn't revolve around it?

Some of you people just need to go ahead and play 2k5 and forget Madden ever existed.

After watching it about 6 times, I liked what I saw. While I agree that it does look a lot like 09, it seemed to have most of the stuff they put in their blogs. The pocket was discerning, but since Ian said it was old I'll allow it.

Presentation was amazing, but Hammonds is the weak link. With that said, I don't think he's as bad as everyone else says.

The running animation does look smoother in my opinion and Ian said this was a vid from 2 weeks ago so, that might explain some things that are not as polished as well as we would like them to be.
That looked good enough, but look at other defensive players. They spin around, not doing realistic footwork to turn around, just swiveling. Also, the AI of some of the players, especially on the CB blitz makes it look even worse.

They added some things to the game to make it "look" better but the game play just looks the same as every other madden.

Wow! Did I just see a clip of MADDEN NFL 2K10? That reminded me a lot of the old 2k series. Good job! Why can't my NCAA look like that???

# 394 billyboy316 @ 05/29/09 02:32 AM
yea maybe the kicking meter does need to updated but come on that is one of the last things on their list to fix. Let them fix the other things first and then fix the kicking system.

I got the same feeling.

I don't care about kicking. Kicking should be easy.

That gameplay vid was awsome. It showed the new presentation along with other things. They have the exact temperature like I heard someone request. I saw everything you guys implemented run blocking, pass blocking a.k.a. the pocket, slower gameplay, better looking passes. I am thoroughly impressed and am looking forward to E3.

# 398 pfunk880 @ 05/29/09 02:35 AM
For the first gameplay video, I'll take it. Hopefully it's a precursor of more goodies forthcoming at E3.

My major concern is Hammond as well. I have my fingers crossed that maybe it'll be smoothed out a little bit in the final version, but I don't know how much they can do with it since I'm sure they are done recording lines for this year. If it doesn't sound less robotic, that will just about negate any positive steps with the presentation, IMO.

Agreed.

Fix the main things first than fix the kicking.
