Madden 2010 News Post

Look at Maximum tackle and the suddenness in which the tackler arrives and the wealth of options in this system. The tackler comes to tackle not engage in a line dance. I know I don't know all the features to Pro Tak, when it comes to the actual tackle, but when you see this video, of ESPN NFL 2K5 tackle options you will understand why I critisize the grabbing for grabbing sake.

In 2k5 you could initiate the tackle with a wrap or a hit. I also like which wasn't mentioned in the video, you can choose whether or not you should wrap high or low by flicking the right stick up for high wrap tackle and flicking down for low wrap tackle and the next defender(s) attacks the ball carrier.

I'm not hating, I actually like the idea, I just want it to be aggressive and violent as it should be its a collision sport not contact and racing up to a ball carrier just to hold onto him just for looks, just doesn't look good.

Great looking video. It is cool to see the progress of the game and the huge effort that is being put in it. Just keep on picking away and working hard Ian. We are with you dude.

The vid looks great. You can tell it's leaps and bounds ahead of any Madden over the last 5 years. It is just remarkable what these guys have done, and will continue to do. Keep it going fellas.

Ok the running game looks awesome in M10. Now I need to see the passing game, show me some new WR animations, or a TO running drabbing CB's into the endzone. The passing game was my biggest gripe of M09.

Lol @ Ian takin' a little jab at 2k at the end of the vid.

It's not about....you know, just long animations that look pretty. It's making sure they're authentic and they're realistic as well.

Yeah, that's also an admission that their animations look better too. So far Madden has had neither, and the animations / rendering is still off even in Madden '10 (not to mention the lack of momentum in the game). They still have several revisions before they match 2K on that front. When I no longer see jerky/stilted movement, isntant direction/speed changes (which may be fixed), and can see/feel a players momentum during a play, then Madden will be on the same level in those areas.

This is simply amazing...we are going into uncharted waters my friends! I can't wait for this game. The vid was awsome, really showing what this pro-tak can do and I am excited. I can't stop looking at this pic. I am going to say that we really have a true competitor to the great 2k and it looks like we might be crowning a new champ. BTW the cleats really do add a ton and in the Broncos clips you can clearly see that there are a couple different styles on the Broncos players. More than one kind of design

I don't think he was talking about 2K. If anything he was taking a jab at Ortiz.

As I said a few weeks ago, 2k's solution was longer animations which means you lose control of the game. You seem blissfully unaware of this fact. Obviously if EA wanted to they could animate an entire play in one set and it could be the smoothest thing you've ever seen. But then you'd essentially be watching the game unfold without having any control over it.

This was 2k's approach (to an extent). I'm not sure how, after your hours upon hours of play, you have not noticed this fact until it was brought up (even though you still denied it when I mentioned it). You seem to have this belief that 2k allowed both better control over the player as well as better animations, when from a technical standpoint based on their implementation that's an impossibility.

Tiburon's approach IS the best of both worlds. I'll sacrifice some smoothness for absolute (realistic/momentum based) control any day. As you mentioned Ian is working on improving the momentum. The turn rates have already been improved. Insta-turns are still an issue. But this is what Ian is striving for and I'm confident they will deliver.

That was/is 2K's approach for Hoops as well. While their animations are by far the best out the one setback is lack of user control. There are a lot of times where the animations take over and you cannot break out of them. I haven't played enough 2K fball to know this but their Hoops titles are infamous at doing this.

You don't know that. Even I agree it looks good, and I'm excited too, but let's just wait and see how all this translates out i.e. control, etc.

Yeah I love NBA 2k9 but the extremely long animations are very frustrating at times.

I love the 2k basketball series too, but the long animations do not allow you to have any control over.
