Madden 2010 News Post

Look at Maximum tackle and the suddenness in which the tackler arrives and the wealth of options in this system. The tackler comes to tackle not engage in a line dance. I know I don't know all the features to Pro Tak, when it comes to the actual tackle, but when you see this video, of ESPN NFL 2K5 tackle options you will understand why I critisize the grabbing for grabbing sake.

In 2k5 you could initiate the tackle with a wrap or a hit. I also like which wasn't mentioned in the video, you can choose whether or not you should wrap high or low by flicking the right stick up for high wrap tackle and flicking down for low wrap tackle and the next defender(s) attacks the ball carrier.

I'm not hating, I actually like the idea, I just want it to be aggressive and violent as it should be its a collision sport not contact and racing up to a ball carrier just to hold onto him just for looks, just doesn't look good.

Don't know if Ian is still watching but first let me thank him and the ea crew for the interaction and getting me extremly excited about his years madden for real! On the note of the back of the jersey's Goodell said there are no need for the letter before the last name because the number should identify the player so they're doing away with it.

I gotta say in the HD version you can really see the graphics pop off the screen IMO. I think Its the lighting and camera angles, i cant put my finger on it

I'be been staying away from the NCAA & MADDEN vids due to false hype in the past but I could not hold out any longer. I am hyped again as usual. This video is aweome. I admit I'm caving in and making the drive to my spot. Peace!!!!!

Actually I have called it out twice now. But hey, why use facts.

I have yet to see EA show that they can provide animations / rendering as good as 2K, whether they be short, or long.

You seem to have this belief that 2k allowed both better control over the player as well as better animations, when from a technical standpoint based on their implementation that's an impossibility.
Before you go attacking someone you should read all of their posts in the thread/on the subject. You obviously haven't. You're way off base here fella.

I have yet to see ANY momentum in a Madden game not only that, but they have never even been remotely close to real world movement. Not even close, that's why Madden '09 is so broken. So far, the only thing we have seen for M10 with regards to fixing the turn rates is the animation clips. No game play evidence, and as you pointed out instant turns are still there.

don't forget EA that lowest man wins, and these guys know this, so the defensive guy getting the first head on initial hit, is probably low like the runner. I dont think brandon jacobs wouldn't put his head down in that situation. It'd be pretty cool that if you didn't get in position and tuck the ball with like the a button or w.e that your runner will totally get lit up by the defender. But this looks amazing! so many improvements. i especially like the background and the focus area improvement, makes the game look totally realistic if you squint, which means that on the HD 360, thats how it should look lol with eyes wide open. O one other thing, can you make the sound affects for the head to head contact and pad to pad and stuff more realistic. I sorta Hate the CRUNCH sound in the previous games, from personal experience, its just a quick pop which a tiny tiny tiny tiny crack in it. too much commotion in the precious games. And can you make quick head jerks when being hit a little more prevalent, it happens pretty much every-time someone gets hit.

I'm really liking what I see of how this Pro-Tak will change Maddens game play.

As impressive as it looks in the videos, it'll really make it's impression on 8/14.

One Small concern I have about momentum. In this progression it appears that Jacobs is lowering the shoulder to pound right through Rogers. But as the big hit should be happening Rogers somehow slides over to the side and is able to hold up Jacobs.

I know I'm getting nit picky, but it's just something I noticed that didn't look sim...

The first thing I want to say is that the amount of effort and immersion that you guys at EA are putting into this game is amazing. I have never seen so much interaction with the community like i have seen this year. Pro-Tak looks great, and judging by this video, I'm confident by the time the game is released in August it will be close to perfected judging by the progress that has been made. I have a strong feeling that madden will make a triumphant and emphatic return to the top of the sports video game world just based on how different and vastly improved the game is going to be.

The lighting is so much better than previous maddens. It makes the game look alot better.

I spy with my little eye two different kinds of colored cleats, but enough about the cleats, that was a great video. I'm still in awe at how great the game looks. Cant wait untill august to get my hands on it.

Am I the only one that sees a HUGE difference in the realistic lighting/colors in the game? Compared with the past 4 next gen Madden games this looks extremely better. Ian, was a new lighting scheme, lighting, or texture technique used.

In previous Maddens I wasn't Impressed with the graphics cause they always had a cartoony or artificial look to them. Yes the graphics where highly detailed and had millions of polygons, but they still had a last-gen feel and I thought the lighting was inferior to that seen in NFL2k5.

NOW, This years madden has much more realistic and earthy looking graphics.

Ian, Can you comment on why the graphics looks so much different aka realistic.

Good catch, Ian has said that momentum was not really implemented into Pro Tak correctly yet when these videos were taken. Meaning the momentum and "umph" that should be taken into account when a defender is running full speed into a ball carrier is not present yet, and vice versa. Apparently that should be fixed.

I'd love a lighting/graphics blog. I completely agree, I've absolutely hated the lighting and colors used in past Madden's but this year they look so much better. I'd like to see behind the scenes what got changed. Something similar to the MLB The Show graphics blog.

Looks really good....not sure if anybody posted this yet, and Im not trying to be Debbie downer but the video was constantly cutting from one angle to the next on most of these gang tackles. This could mean two things
  1. Whoever cut the video was trying to give the presentation some flair and variety
  2. the editor wanted to hide some mechanical issues and cut angles where they occured to confuse the eye
I sure hope it is # 1, or at least if its 2 it can be fixed before they press these.
Overall it looks pretty awesome though. The Brandon Jacobs run was eye popping

I thought that was a real game photo too when I first saw it. This game keeps getting better and better. The graphics are spectacular and a huge leap from last year and I can't wait for what is going to be revealed at E3. I hope the nba live team takes advice from the madden team.
