Once your rosters are re-loaded into the vault will the career stat glitch be gone? I've been trying to keep up all day but it's impossible. I apologize if this has been answered.

Russell. May I please have a reply to this message. I put this in the bug thread and some other thread, but I have never received an acknowledgment that it was read. I was hoping the patch would fix this, but it has not.

May I please have an acknowledgment that this bug report is at least documented, so that the next patch can possibly fix it?

What game mode did the bug happen in?
Online (offline works fine)

How did it happen or what did you do to trigger it? Can you recreate it?
When I attempt to hit & run, my batter will not swing at the ball. Sometimes, the animation of the swing will happen, but the ball will never be hit. If the pitch is a strike, the announcer will say that is was a called strike, and the slo-mo replay will show that the bat never left my shoulders. This is true even if I power swing (meaning it wasn't just a check swing).

This makes it impossible to hit & run, and very dangerous to steal with two strikes, as I won't be able to swing should the pitch come flying through the zone. This also makes it dangerous to send the runners with 2 outs and a full count, which is standard practice in baseball.
I have had many instances where I swung at ball four, but found myself trotting down to first base. Also, as I was trying to swing at a pitch while stealing, only to miss even though it was right down the middle, I would have to hear Matt say that it was a "called strike three".

How often can the bug be reproduced?
99.9% of the time.

I usually set them up the following day after the real games have been played (yeah it's fanatical, I don't deny it). It's such a pain to have all my efforts thwarted by some bogus cpu logic and to constantly get that message about the coach thinks "so and so" could use a day off, I'll rest them when the real guys rest. On top of that it causes all these other unnecessary problems (RBI men leading off, the DH always being exhausted, etc...just silly). Same goes for the pitcher confidence stuff, it's way overdone IMO. Leave it in the game for those who want it but I'm begging SCEA to please give us the option of turning this stuff OFF already and let us play our games the way we want to.
That's exactly what I do. I'm behind the season now anyway, and at the pace I play (and with also playing Red Sox and Twins franchise), I won't get caught up. I use struts thread to do the daily transactions. At least I found a workaround. It's a pain, but it'll do. Also a good thing I happen to have 2 controllers (2 sixaxis and 1 dualshock actually).

No problem. Thanks for the fast response. I plan on playing one entire season so the career stats won't bother me much. I think it's time to load Knight's rosters, download the patch, start a franchise, and enjoy this game...

Anyone know if the workaround for retirements still works? (where you save and keep renetering offseason until you get the configuration you want, as it's randomized).

I forgot to check when I was simming, but A-Rod retired after one season due to "poor FA market"...lol. If nobody is sure, it's no biggie. I'll figure it out when I test run again tomorrow. Poor A-Rod can't catch a break in this game...lol

Anyway, just curious.

I guess they didn't program "greed" into the game .

You know, I defended SCEA with all I had earlier today because I knew that there was SOME reason for the patch not to work like they intended it to. And I believe they deserved the benefit of the doubt because everything that I've seen since I started playing The Show(08) has been top notch.

With that said, after getting home from work, sitting down and finding out that SCEA did get it wrong and it seems they aren't going to make it right, or maybe they tried but cant make it right, it's very hard to swallow. Last year had some buggy things, but the heart and soul of a baseball game....they got it on point. No stat glitch, no roster control problems...it was perfect in that regard. So how does the current years game regress?? It just makes no sense to have the issues its having after NOT having those issues last year. It just makes you wonder what goes on behind the scenes.

With all that said, the game itself...nobody can touch it, it's the best. It's just a shame that everyone has to sacrifice what they really love about a baseball game, whether it's stat freaks, lineup freaks(me) or RTTS......it seems all of us had to choose what's more important, and it shouldn't be that way....especially when you spend 60 bucks.

Sorry if it's been already been addressed, but.... why even bother asking him?

Me personally, Knight's lineup fix does the trick and I'm gleefully getting started tomorrow when I get home. Have been playing franchise games with my friend up here in Escondido and we had some really fantastic games today.

That said, I hope what I've said it as least given some consideration. More is not always better.
Good point Jim. And yes, it IS a wonderful game.

I've been off the computer all day and I am glad I checked this thread out before downloading the patch. Looks like I need to not download it if I want to keep my franchise going.

Download it and see if it works, if it doesnt then delete the patch and go from there. I really want it to work as Im eagerly anticipating the ability to make uneven trades but havent had a chance yet to give it a shot.

1000% agree!! Lets get these issues fixed for next year even if nothing "new" makes it into the game.
I'm in the same boat Jim, just loaded up Knights lineup fix rosters, gonna adjust the lineups and rotations after I enter my franchise (make sure you do this and save btw before your first game for all teams if you want it to stick)

It is time to play ball! Done with the worrying about things, just ready to enjoy

Anybody know whether any fixes were made for the coach bugs? I was simming an Indians franchise & this was completely messed up. I fired Wedge, hired a new mgr & some coaches, and all of a sudden somehow Wedge was back as my 1B coach, even though I never hired him. Then I could never get rid of him. Then both my mgr & 3rd base coach's contracts expired but I still couldn't get rid of them. They'd even show up as being hired by other teams & appear wearing other teams' hats on the coaches screen.

You know im with you on this the game doesnt really need anything new. I love it the way it is. The Glitches need to be fixed. The only thing I would love to see in the future is A-ball.

# 258 The Chef @ 04/28/09 05:20 AM
Ok, well Im fairly confident that the "fixing" of the schedule is whats screwing everything up. I downloaded the patch, clearly because Im a damn fool, and went in. Everything seemed to load fine, so I went to my schedule and no instant crashes there, went to the trade screen to see if uneven trades was working and it indeed was so I knew I had the patch at that point. I then went back to the schedule and noticed that the last game I had played was against the Mets but didnt show the outcome on the main calendar screen and it was automatically placing me on the current game which was the one after this one so clearly the game thought I had played it. I clicked "x" and went into view the games for the day, noticing that there was no "sim to date" option available, scrolled to the bottom and noticed that the game showed a 0-0 score but had Pelfrey as the winning pitcher and Kuroda as the losing pitcher. I clicked "x" on my game and chose to simulate it which automatically filled in the correct stats, showing me losing 5-4 just like it had happened when I played the game. Strange part is it showed the winning and losing pitchers as well as K-Rod with the save and then at the end it listed Jason Schmidt (starter for the next game in the series) last for some strange reason. I backed out of this screen and immeaditely it booted me to the XMB, so there is my report. The uneven trade feature looked awesome but clearly this so called "patch" was a joke in the end. I really hope Im wrong in what is causing this as the thought that fixing the schedule to appease the Cubs fans here is what caused this entire problem to start is really annoying to say the least. Best of luck to you all, Im going to delete the patch and see what happens from there I guess.

Guys we have to remember it's just a video game, is it possible we are taking all this just a bit to seriously? I mean I know we want the best game possible but when you look at the total package it's still well worth the $60. We all have different things we like to get from a baseball video game but let's remember it's just a game.

Things I like about the patch are uneven trades, the hiring/firing of coaches, and the schedule fix. Those are some really nice improvements over what we had previously.

Now I did have my game crash on me right after the update but I tried it again and have had no problems. So it may happen periodically but as long as you make sure you save your work after each game I don't think it's a big issue.

Things I wish would have been fixed is the DL feature, the lineup glitch, and the historical stat glitch. Apparently they weren't able to fix them though so I'm fine with it. I'll work around it, I'll turn injuries off and even though that's a bit annoying to do I'll make the adjustment. I'll use Knight's rosters I had previously downloaded and that has all the minor leaguers and the correct lineups. I was even hoping for correctable uniform combinations even though I knew that probably wasn't going to be fixed. It's something that annoys me, I don't like seeing the wrong hats with the alternate uniforms but again I'll get over it. I'll overlook the stat glitch and a lot of the other window dressing problems this game has.

I paid $60 to enjoy this game and by george I'm going to do just that. When next year's game comes out I'll buy that one and hope that some of these issues have been addressed. This game though is the best game on the market and I'm going to enjoy it. I suggest everyone else do the same, it's not like the game is unplayable, just think how far these games have come. I remember a time when we didn't have baseball games nearly as good as this game, even with all it's issues.
