Madden 2010 News Post

Peter Moore has posted the first screenshot of Madden NFL 10.

Quote:
"While we have a number of announcements and updates to come over the next several weeks leading up to next month's NFL Draft, I'm excited to debut the first screenshot from this year's game right here this week. The old adage says, "A picture is worth a thousand words", and that is certainly true in this fantastic shot. How many improvements can you pick out? The Madden dev team will call each one out in their blog later this week."

Ok Ian, that's enough! Stop trying to make me interested in buying this game, haha.

What on earth are you going to talk to Ian about now??!!

Wait. So we're going to have primary AND secondary team colored gloves. But ONLY for gloves? What about cleats?

I'll see what we can do to shrink it just a tad bit more though.
Thats one of the funniest pictures I've ever seen and makes me appreciate Ian & all the new teams efforts even more.

Look at the huge ball&quarterback. Look at the weird way Smith is holding the ball (which at least explains his fumbling problem I guess). Look at the positioning of the LT,LG,DT & RE. They are all standing next to the quarterback but never thought about sacking him or even looking at him for that matter.

Ian if this game lives up to its promise you are officially the gaming equivalent of Bill Parcells! Except fixing Madden may have seemed more impossible than fixing the 1-15 Dolphins.

Listen Im all for constructive criticism but if all we have to complain about in Madden , as football fans and videogames fans, are the a few skinny arms, and the QB is not holding on the laces, and the FOOTBALL looks big, I think we are in for a treat.

Lets look at the big picture here fellas.
I would say that Big Ben not looking big enough is a valid complaint. I mean, that's one of his trademarks, that he is a big guy and hard to bring down. I want to be able to clearly see the difference between Big Ben and Jeff Garcia for example, and not only in height.

Nobody plays Madden and complains about the size of the ball
I agree. If the game comes out and the only thing people can find to complain about is the size of the ball. I would say that's one hell of a football game.

That's Alex Smith actually.

But some members have brought up some good points, to me Big Ben's overall size should be a bit bulkier other than that I think they did a fantastic job on the other player models in the shot.

Ps. They also forgot laboy's visor.

As I read that, I begin to wonder though (I'm always wondering, lol)... couldn't that mean that if the towel is attached more to the thigh like the pic shows, that as the thigh moves the element (towel) moves on top of it but not independent of it? I wonder because the placement of the towel in the middle of the waist would for sure mean that the towel would need full animation to be pulled off, but where it's placed in the photo it can basically feed off of the movement of the players thigh because it's attached there.

However, I realize that last year long hair moved, so I'm thinking that this same thing could've somehow been translated to this. I think the placement of towel makes me wonder more than the actual towel itself (if that makes any sense?).

... just a thought...

Fair enough but Big Ben still looks BIG in that screenshot, and his arm is not skinny, just not diesel as we are used to seein on QB's...BigBen maybe a big guy in real life, but as far as physic goes he is not a LB or DLINEMAN.

I stand corrected that is Alex Smith.

Wowwww great shot and great info! After all the pessimism these last few weeks I'm sure Ian is happy to get some praise. As long as the game plays as well as it looks you'll be getting much more of it as time goes on. Good work so far Ian .

# 254 ImReady77 @ 03/23/09 05:19 PM
yeah ben's arms are not big in real life.

That's the one!!! OMG, I hated that. EA ... NEVER put in a cut scene that I can't skip... that would be a horrible thing to do.

# 256 KANE699 @ 03/23/09 05:19 PM
With all of Ea's attention to detail and equipment especially pointed out in this photo it would be nice to see the addition of these half sleeves, also seen in this picture and in the Alex Smith picture the qb wristband is way too high up on the arm and should go all the way down to the start of the hand.

I just noticed they forgot Laboy's long hair too.

I know, that sucked. It was a glitch. I brought this up to the developer liaison but they seemed unconcerned. I also brought up the replay glitch but still no concern, lol. Made me wonder why they even asked for feedback in the first place especially when a number of people started complaining about the same things later on, but I digress...

Sounds like you need a towel(or some Ritalin)

# 259 green94 @ 03/23/09 05:22 PM
I've never seen so many people talk about hand towels in my entire life, HAND TOWELS.

I love that Madden is starting to dig into the "little things".

So maybe that means we'll get the blog with more info about the screen shot on the day before your bday (Thursday).
