Madden 2010 News Post

Peter Moore has posted the first screenshot of Madden NFL 10.

"While we have a number of announcements and updates to come over the next several weeks leading up to next month's NFL Draft, I'm excited to debut the first screenshot from this year's game right here this week. The old adage says, "A picture is worth a thousand words", and that is certainly true in this fantastic shot. How many improvements can you pick out? The Madden dev team will call each one out in their blog later this week."

Yeah...
The ball does look too big. I mean, Bens hand only goes to like 1/3 of the ball and his fingers dont even touch the threads in the screenshot.

Hope they fix that

Maybe i'm reading to much into it, but the hand positions of the Linemen. Using their hands to manipulate the D-Lineman. Starks forcing LaBoy upright for example.

Fight for every yard = OL/DL fighting in the trenches.

Which OLmen or DLmen will it be?

I could see it being Albert Haynesworth.

Ian, can you get the team to make the ball slightly smaller in size?? Is that possible?

No they didn't, one player is wearing a half cage and Travis Laboy is wearing the 3 bar qb facemask.

Before anyone asks, yes they are both supposed to be wearing those facemasks.

I too noticed that. I mean in the EA Pic his hands don't even reach the seams! So there's definitely a scale issue there with the ball.

James Harrison maybe.

Digging the pic but I've seen some mention cleat upgrades and IMO they look similar to last years. Basic white and basic black. Same for gloves, hope they add a lot more variety with these things.

I would also like to see colored cleats like the Big Ben pic up above, some players wear the flashy cleats like Reggie Bush, Ben and etc.

All this screen shot proves is that the graphics may be improved a little bit, refs and chain gangs are present, and the QB has a towel on his waist. While all these things may be new and cool, one can not automatically assume the game is going to be great. So I'll give props where props are due and say Ian and team have managed to provide proof of some basic upgrades to the game, but I'll get truly excited when actual gameplay footage and verification of options are provided not screenshots specifially design to tittilate...as you should
I don't think anyone here is saying that the game is great simply because of a screen shot. We're just pointing out the new features that we've spotted from this screenshot, nothing more and nothing less. If someone wants to get excited about Madden 10 from this screen shot then I don't see a problem.

Here's a few things I'd like to see the refs do.

1. Run down the field with the players.
2. Throw flags
3. Blow whistles(or at least have a whistle sound when a penalty occurs)
4. Have meetings on the field discussing the plays.

Anyone else have any ideas?

How about QB standing in a pocket with OL/DL inter action? Did you see those over the past 4 years?

Did you see the different jerseys for different players ? Did you notice the sideline art?

I ask because you didn't mention those items.

Sure, it's only March, but hopefully, it's a preview of things to come.

the blue box hold all of the telephones so that the players can talk to the coordinators in the upstairs.

it looks like that is Dick LeBeau pacing on the sideline.

other than that i see the same thing everyone else does hand towels, refs, chain gang, superbowl patch, and better OL/DL interaction.

1. They appear to be doing this in the screen shot
2. They did this in the past gen so I don't see why not here
3. They only would blow a whistle to call the play dead but yea you're right I would like to hear a whistle when a false start or encrochment occurs.
4. This would be nice in a cutscene.

If it's in the game, it's in the game.

whistles after every play is over

running in on fumbles and getting players off the pile

signal TD's, incomplete passes, sideline catches.

I really want them to fix the ball as well. I mean we see it each and every play over and over. It is a important piece of the puzzle and if it looks out of proportion then it take away from the immersion

Ian has already stated presentation is "getting much love." So far, I don't think he's lead us astray at this stage.

I'm so stoked!
I would not be so quick to say that. It looks like art work to me and not animated

To echo the sentiments of some others, the football is still too large; can it be adjusted?
