Madden 2010 News Post

Peter Moore has posted the first screenshot of Madden NFL 10.

Quote:
"While we have a number of announcements and updates to come over the next several weeks leading up to next month's NFL Draft, I'm excited to debut the first screenshot from this year's game right here this week. The old adage says, "A picture is worth a thousand words", and that is certainly true in this fantastic shot. How many improvements can you pick out? The Madden dev team will call each one out in their blog later this week."

Is it the hand placement of the o line the tackel seems to have his hand closer together while the guard has his hands wider apart blocking. also the o line feet seem to be planted in a more real way

Look at the left tackle's shoulder... his his sleeve actually folded under the shoulder pad? I'm probably nuts here, but wow the way that looks... I dunno. I can't imagine they'd be able to fully articulate clothing and the pads like that.

Looks like the far side Official is looking right at the receiver running downfield on his side, no?

I saw that as well. Hopefully there are coach profiles to match these coach models.

it's hard to see but did they add the correct position of the numbers on the steelers helmet?

for instance, in madden 09 big ben's #7 is to the right of the yellow stripe in the helmet when its supposed to be in the yellow stripe

maybe this isn't new, but i'll take a stab in the dark. The jersey on the left O-lineman is form fitting. What I mean by that is you can see the shoulder pad equipment and where it ends and the jersey comes closer to the body. Also the uniform bends with him and you can se "real time" wrinkles as he moves.

Great screen shot with many improvements but damn Ben needs to tan and bulk up those arms. I thought Ben's arm was the only part that looks video-gameish on the SS due to the paleness and lankiness of his arm but I google'd him and he looks just like that so great job Ian and co. lol.

So Ian has just admitted dramatic OL/DL animation improvements then. It certainly looks authentic in this screen.

Can't wait to see it live in motion to finally judge.

I belive that the lighting reflections in the helmets were there in 09, but maybe not. Is that one of the improvements? Improved real time lighting?

How about the NFL logo on the gloves???

Saw that too... in particular, how the cloth seems to fold under the shoulder pad cover.

You know with the epic fail response from IAN I am stoked. That means the O-line has seen some big improvments cause he sure called you out quick on saying the blocking looked the same.

Ian, top notch bro

You know I have been critical of Ian and the rest of the group this whole time but I must give credit when it is due, this screenshot has me feeling much better about the prospects of Madden 10, and kudos to you guys for listening to your fans and implementing the "little" things we all wanted and asked for.

I do hope the better player models and attention to detail will translate to gameplay.

Good stuff.

I'm just saying that the picture doesn't prove anything, really. I've been saying (and you can read my Madden info thread to see me repeat it ad nausuem) that I think the team is putting the bulk of their effort in the trenches.

I think I've been the optimistic one long enough to have earned the right to take the role of devil's advocate for this
