Thanks countryboy and nemesis for confirming that the umpires will rotate this year.

We didn't specifically ask this(at least I didn't)...but in speaking with Brian...they tweaked the attributes as well as the sliders...and I got the impression they wanted it much more attribute related this year.
I'm just guessing...but I think they were seeing with the aggression slider...way to many slow guys trying to both steal and take the extra base when they really shouldn't/couldn't.
So I think they touched on the aggression attribute as the driving force to extra bases and more aggressive basebath play.
The baserunner speed slider also sounds like it will increase the aggression overall.

Does anyone else hate that one HR Celebration Cam where it goes straight to a close up of the batter's face? Why would I want to stare at Jayson Werth's ugly mug for an awkward 5 seconds when I could be watching the HR that he apparently just smashed off of the right field foul pole. I'd like to leave the HR Celebration Cam on, because there are some other angles that I like, but I just can't stand seeing the face shot while a ball is leaving the yard. Hopefully it gets scraped from next years game.

one thing I'd like to see them add is the ability to see the previous pitch sequence to the cpu batter's without having to go thru the select button, pitcher/batter analysis.

When I bat, I can press R2 and see the previous pitch sequence, I'd love to be able to do that while pitching.

I know.....I'm lazy..

thats why I turn it off. I don't like some of the angles, plus I don't like that I can't see where the ball lands and it seems to take some of the excitement out of the homerun for me.

Feliz singles.
I quickly get Ruiz and Hamels...
2 outs and up steps Rollins.
I'm being careful and he strokes a single to RF....Feliz goes for third and I ALMOST threw there...but I decide to play it safe and not let Rollins get to 2nd, right?
1st and third....Rollins is going to go...I keep throwing over there. Nada...can't get him....so I decide to be cute and snap throw to 1st(he's dancin' off every pitch!)........AND.......I FRIGGIN' THROW THE BALL INTO RF!!!!!! ...
Not only does Feliz trot home...but the ball gets into the corner and I misplay it...ROLLINS SCORES FROM 1ST!
I might need a new monitor.
Does anyone know where I can repair this?..
..

Oh yeah...I eventually lost in 6

Minus the pitcher/batter "lag", the demo is amazing! I understand it is not in the build that was played on CD, so I'm not worried about it. Cole Hamels just threw a perfect game (4 innings) against me; he completely dominated me. I think the only ball I hit solid was a foul ball lol.

forgive me if this was answered in the thread, but I'm at work and if i search too long my boss will block this site.

1) Is the fielding better than last yr where I'd be an outfielder and the game would kind of take over my fielder when I got close to the ball and make the catch for me? I hated that?

2) I'm an MVP 2005 guy. Still play it with all the mods on PC. How does this game stack up as far as feeling "in control" and fun factor?

Thanks!

I played the demo on thursday and had a great experience.
Game when to the 6th inning when utley was at bat.
I had a feeling of hitting a walk off. so i press power swing and he did hit a walkoff. Utley rounding first base was a hybrid of Joe Carter's walkoff in the WS and Big mac's 62 homerun. Awesome celebration.
One thing i noticed yesterday when Cole Hamles is pitching from the stretch position. His delivery looks identical to J.C Romero.
Can someone explain this?

Nice to see the lighting go from day to night as the game moves along, and also nice to see the "2 out force at second" fiasco has been fixed. You know, the one where a grounder to second with 2 outs, you try flipping to the SS for the force but your 2B stood there waxing his carrot too long and the runner was safe.

Guys, I'm an old guy like Jim and need all the help I can get. I tried the "offset" hitting angle and it helped me alot. For those who are having trouble hitting, try it. I homered in four straight games with Howard after I changed! Default all-star.

Considering that they got the pitching coaches, and base coaches dead on, I would say yes.

Scratch that, they are, I remember Utley getting a lecture in the dugout in the demo.

What I would really like to see in '10 is a fielding camera like the broadcast or press box cam. I don't like low, not really feeling medium (again) and high is just too high.

Outside of that, beautiful demo. I'm really looking forward to March 3.

You should try Low ... it brings you in the action much more, has a better challenge, and feels more broadcast-ish.

But would be neat if they had a broadcast type camera for next year, where it will be different camera angles, depending on where the ball is hit, etc. Would make it feel more fresh while fielding.

I'm fine with medium. I don't care much for low and high.

But I do agree, I think a few more camera angles are needed for the fielding aspect of this game.

Okay after playing MLB 08: The Show with no sleep for 3 days, and then almost 6 hours a day after it was released.

I went into this demo, thinking they wouldn't improve much.

But WOW!!! This game looks incredible, plays great and the presentation is still outstanding. 09 is definitely going to suck a lot of hours out of my time once released.

Sony Great Muthaluvin Job! Now get the NBA Team on the same page.

Player models are incredible, facial detail is unreal. And the lighting and textures are just jaw dropping.

It's just hard to explain my satisfaction of this series. I'm just enjoying the demo really!

Have a great day OS!

Sony Dev's I want to thank you guys for this great series.

Oh yeah. Medium is pretty good, I just think it could be better. I almost want something between low and medium. That would be a good balance. It would be just a slight tilt of the camera from medium towards low and that would do the trick for me.

Behindtheshadows, your avatars are pretty nice. Seriously, you change it every week. Not that it's a bad thing. LOL.
