You know the graphics are exceptional, but I did notice a goofy little bug or two.
BUT...
This has GOT to be the weakest demo ever released by anyone. Good Lord, there's nothing to it. I can't even check an instant replay.

Question about the drops (I'm seeing them too, at least when I play to my potential on the IQ test):
Does the Pass Offense drill affect a WR's catching skills like the rush offense affects the runner and blockers? In other words, the better we score on it, the more our "user catch" skill has to come into play? This could be why people see the drops....the game is expecting us to user catch on AP and above, and if we don't....
Obviously, the fix for us non-user catch types would be to lower that catching slider if that's true. I definitely saw on the Rookie level that Shockey was able to catch many more passes without my input. On all Pro, he dropped several of them.

I think one thing i'd like to see is to elaborate on what Simon said, what all does the Madden IQ test factor and adjust? Break tackles? Lead Blocking? Drops? Awareness? etc
Just played the demo and I have to say I was at first disappointed with the way the game looked. The player models looked too cartoony with the way they were so short looking, the jerseys lacked realism to them, and the faces were more cartoony looking as well. The WR and TE running animation looks really bad and the drop backs looks ridiculous with the way Eli is shaking the ball as he moves down. The Madden IQ test is pretty boring after playing it a few times but that's okay because you probably only need to do it once after you first buy the game.
I will say that I liked the grass and while the quality of it doesn't look as good when zoomed up close it looks really good in a far away view. The lighting could use some work because faces and the football looked really dark. I understand it's night time but the really bright lights shining the stadium should have made the faces look brighter. I do like the fact that the players don't look widened from the widescreen view.
The football actually looks worse compared to the football in last year's madden. It's just too dark and lacks good lighting to it. I also see that the football spins too smoothly compared to last year which is something I don't like because wobbly spins looks more realistic.
I do like the tackling though because it looks more hard hitting.
Well as for the gameplay, madden still feels like madden and that's never a bad thing.
But I think I have to view this year's madden as a really different looking game this year in order to enjoy it. I just hope that the cpu quarterback is not as smart as last year madden because I couldn't enjoy versing it and I ended up playing online more than ever. The sliders don't really bug me as I always was a guy who played default all-pro. As I play through the demo more though, the look of the game doesn't bug me as much, but I still think it could have been better.
Um no there is instant replay. Just wait for the playcall menu to show, then with your right stick, keep flicking left and you'll see it

I respectfully have to ask then: WHY?
And I pose that question the same way I did with OMT; I'll take any answer they want to give, whether it be because it was a design choice or they just flat out felt like it.
I need some form of closer with this because it is just baffling to me and my mates why we can't control the game the way we want too.
demo is fine, wish we could play defense but i am not gonna beat a dead horse. one thing i noticed though, and maybe it is just me but the size of the players in relation to the field seems off. the players seem huge, and i am also comparing it to how the players appear in relation to the field in ncaa...
I like the IQ quiz....but EA dropped the ball not allowing us to have the 2 min 4 quarters demo we got with NCAA 09. Makes me worried that something is wrong on the defensive side of the game.
I hope they release a true demo, but I doubt it. This was NOT a demo, just more to show off IQ and the situation mode, the later of which I doubt I'll ever play anyway.

I will be puchasing Madden this year as I do every year, and I am looking foward to the game this year, it looks to be a significant improvement. I was happy to see that EA was releasing a demo before release this year. I am however dissapointed that this demo is a complete joke. I mean is it to much to ask to be able to play a quater of football, not a situation. Why did they waste their time releasing a demo before release if there is not enough gameplay in it to be able to convince anyone to buy that game?

Players seem to drop the ball more when they are tired. I ve went 8/10 and 7/8 in two consecutive drives with the incompletions being poor reads and throws. But I made sure I only threw to green dudes AND didnt rifle the ball when they were yards away.
But I had a 5/10 drive where yellow and red dudes just flat out dropped it when wide open.

I haven't had anything good to say about madden, or any EA game in the past 5 years, being a nfl 2k guy, but this game looks promising. I haven't watched any previews, or read anything about this game leading up to this demo. And that's about all the madden I endure year to year, just checking out the demo, noticing nothing has changed, then forgetting it.
This game feels better and looks better then last years demo. I think I might rent it.
The presentation for some reason reminds me of ollldschool madden 97 for some reason, don't ask...

At first i dismissed the demo as being the same old next-gen Madden- that is to say, I didn't like it. I've always felt the last gen engine was just flat out better.
After playing it many more times, I started to enjoy it more because I started to discover some of the small details of the gameplay. For instance, I didn't understand the whole branching-animation business until I realized that, while getting tackled, you have to actually try to break the tackle, instead of waiting for an animation to play out. To me that's pretty cool.
Also, once you start getting into all of the adjustments you can make pre-snap, I'm starting to get that whole chess on a football field feeling back that I had with the last gen engine. Slide protection is really effective- try using it on a stretch play. Also smart routes, formation audibles, all of these are things I didn't grasp until about 20 playthroughs of this measly demo.
I would like the game speed to be slower, but I guess I'll take some sacrifices in realism because the gameplay is pretty fun. Overall, having hated every Madden on next-gen, I'm pleased with what I've played. Hopefully defense is just as fun with adjustments and whatnot.
By the way, I asked this in the slider thread but didn't get a response: any word on whether there will be a Game Speed slider?

The impressions from a mature perspective:
I am 35. One to three to four times per week, I will hop online to play a game. I am sad to say that the 360 download is very disappointing.
Beyond the obvious things, such as having poor camera angles, the sideline patterns are not good. When the tight ends are shooting for the sideline, they make the play out of bounds a majoriy of the time.
For the past two years, I have purchased the 360 version, and then traded them back in for the PS2 format. The PS2 game does not look nearly as nice, but is the best SIM football that I know of. I can view the whole field at one time. I am simply amazed that the Madden Community does not see this as a major issue. How can one choose a receiver route if the defensive back's positioning is not seen?
I will be purchasing the PS2 version this year. (God help me if they took away my favorite view.) It is truly a solid game. I will wait patiently for the 360 2010 version. Perhaps it will be worthy of purchasing.

I like the demo, but will admit im getting tired of it. Not a Giants or Pats fan so that doesnt help. Seems like it plays good, but without extended time with the running game, playcalling or defense, its hard to make any judgement
