Ea flat out doesn't care, they come on here and give us "tid bits" of info, going as far as saying 2010 is where it's at. How lame, but things will never change no matter who they have producing this game, because it might upset sales. Total BS, we're gonna try a different demo so we can attract new people to the game, are you for real? I can see what Madden is all about, money. It's suppossed to be football, how hard is that th explain to someone? But in reality this is just an arcade game, with gimmicks that make you think you're better at the game than you are. IQ tests, are you serious, taking out sliders are you serious, not giving a crap about the people who made Madden what it is (the consumer) are you serious? ALL EA cares about is their bottom line, their profit margain. These EA drones can come on this site and "talk" to us, but it isn't gonna change the game, if they'd get a great game engine going and then added all the fluff later we'd be good, but no we get stuck with crap like superstar mode, IQ tests, and relive a historic moment in NFL history. I don't have a programming degree, but I know football. In all honesty I feel a monkey on acid has a better understanding of what is needed to make this game better. Flat out EA employees are just that employees, they do what they're told and are MAYBE asked to think of new gimmicks to throw in as an "awesome new feature". Get rid of the gimmicks and all the fluff and make a f'ing football game. Money hungry bitches. End of rant.

Re: Madden 09 Demo Released, Impressions Here

I will be puchasing Madden this year as I do every year, and I am looking foward to the game this year, it looks to be a significant improvement. I was happy to see that EA was releasing a demo before release this year. I am however dissapointed that this demo is a complete joke. I mean is it to much to ask to be able to play a quater of football, not a situation. Why did they waste their time releasing a demo before release if there is not enough gameplay in it to be able to convince anyone to buy that game?

Re: Madden 09 Demo Released, Impressions Here

Players seem to drop the ball more when they are tired. I ve went 8/10 and 7/8 in two consecutive drives with the incompletions being poor reads and throws. But I made sure I only threw to green dudes AND didnt rifle the ball when they were yards away.

But I had a 5/10 drive where yellow and red dudes just flat out dropped it when wide open.

HELLO! I have lurked around this forum for a small time and this is my first post. This site is great! I've enjoyed this thread, and all of your opinions and knowledge have been much appreciated. A little about me: Sports gaming has always been my first luv in videogames. Recently they have taken a back seat to shooters in terms of quality, IMO. But, I still luv them as I assume all others here do as well.

Now, the quoted post above is the reason I had to join and show support. I agree totally with the post, and have always felt that way. With Madden (and other supposed sports sims), most of the newest features I don't ever care to use, because they mostly have nothing to do with the core "realistic" experience, IMO. I won't be using the Virtual Trainer feature, the Ring Maker feature, the Rewind feature, or the Backtracking feature, Historic Moment, Superstar Mode, etc. I've always wondered if features like these are made after the core experience is maxed out, or if these features take precedent over gameplay. But, anyway, they don't interest me.

I really like the Madden demo, even though it's not much of one. This year, I think Madden (the core experience) is goin' to be great!
This site is awesome! I'll try to contribute from an intellectual and very passionate standpoint for my luv of sports videogames.
I'm a proud graphics whore, but, in the end, I care the most about the gameplay.
Favorite football games: Madden 2004 and 2006 (never played NFL 2K5).

Re: Madden 09 Demo Released, Impressions Here

I haven't had anything good to say about madden, or any EA game in the past 5 years, being a nfl 2k guy, but this game looks promising. I haven't watched any previews, or read anything about this game leading up to this demo. And that's about all the madden I endure year to year, just checking out the demo, noticing nothing has changed, then forgetting it.

This game feels better and looks better then last years demo. I think I might rent it.

The presentation for some reason reminds me of ollldschool madden 97 for some reason, don't ask...

Re: Madden 09 Demo Released, Impressions Here

At first i dismissed the demo as being the same old next-gen Madden- that is to say, I didn't like it. I've always felt the last gen engine was just flat out better.

After playing it many more times, I started to enjoy it more because I started to discover some of the small details of the gameplay. For instance, I didn't understand the whole branching-animation business until I realized that, while getting tackled, you have to actually try to break the tackle, instead of waiting for an animation to play out. To me that's pretty cool.

Also, once you start getting into all of the adjustments you can make pre-snap, I'm starting to get that whole chess on a football field feeling back that I had with the last gen engine. Slide protection is really effective- try using it on a stretch play. Also smart routes, formation audibles, all of these are things I didn't grasp until about 20 playthroughs of this measly demo.

I would like the game speed to be slower, but I guess I'll take some sacrifices in realism because the gameplay is pretty fun. Overall, having hated every Madden on next-gen, I'm pleased with what I've played. Hopefully defense is just as fun with adjustments and whatnot.

By the way, I asked this in the slider thread but didn't get a response: any word on whether there will be a Game Speed slider?
