WOW, I love this statement! Not picking on you at all though, it's just good to see someone make an honest statement and move on. I felt last year's game wasn't for me although some people obviously loved it.

This year, I am not sure. I am going to wait for the full release and see what the impressions are here on the forum before I open it.

Running the ball is ok in this game. I need to do it more, but some peope were raving about it, and I didn't get that vibe yet.

One thing I liked was on the first play, I threw a deep ball to Plax. He simply just got by his man like a real deep ball would work. I saw him run by the DB and make the catch, and it was not a cheesy thing at all..very real to how a deep ball is done in the pros.

I am hoping that the game is tough on all pro so online is a real balanced matchup where cheesers can not control the ball the whole game with rocket catches and drop back QBs.

Do you have to complete the Madden IQ before you can play? I got tired of doing it so I quit.

Wonder if we can get a comment from Ian on playbooks (for 09, and 10). The playbooks appear to be the same as NCAA (and NCAA, each team essentially has pretty similar playbooks). Any chance that will be touched for either year? Is this just a demo thing?

Also, do teams run their real life offense? Will New England line up 4-5 wide alot, with the Jags running alot of power O?

In the one game I played, The defense's pass rush was faster and the defenders played their zones more aggressively and rode the WR's through the zones better. Stuff I could do in NCAA I could not do as easy in Madden. You also gotta watch how much you lead your WR's or you will throw a really bad pass.

There aint nothing really NEW per se to the game on the field but it does play better than the previous Madden games.

It was too easy for me to run everyone over with Jacobs. I didn't use spin moves though.

Guess I can stop complaining about "on the fly audibles" now.

The formation audibles are a great addition and offer the best of both worlds.

Im not gonna really comment on a Demo's gameplay too much because there wasnt enough to really tell. But they did fix some of the stuff that was wrong with last years game.

Rush defense: almost everytime the HB escape from me when i takle him, what can i do?

Pass defense: even worst. If i am the LB i can rush the passer and my CBs don't see the WRs. If i am the safety i choose a WR and the ball go to the other (and my CB can compete with the rival WR).

Tell me as i am stupid.

pd: becuase i am stupid, i suppose.

pd2: To OS forums moderators: sorry for my mistake, for open a wrong thread

With the rush defence, I let the other D-man make the first block and then straight afterwards go for the RB; the lower levels aren't too hard. As you move up and the RB has more blockers, you have to wait for your opportunity to attack the RB. When my teammate has blocked one blocker but there are still 2 -3 blocking for the RB, I back track and bide my time until a opening quickly appears between the blocker and RB and then go for it. Don't lunge in straight away basically, wait for your teammate to take one out and then wait for an opening

Can't help with pass defence, I am shocking at that

Since threads and posts and reply's are magically being deleted and edited..i'll post my 2cents here...geezus
-------------------

Im not here to bash Madden 09 as i see definate improvment from last year and previous versions. They are heading in the right direction but something is OBVIOUSLY wrong with their current so called next-gen madden engine. Its missing something..i cant pinpoint it.

A company as big as EA could definately make a new engine for next year.. remember when NFL2k5 come out? That year it used a brand new engine smack dab in the middle of xbox 1 console life cycle..so making a new complete engine IS POSSIBLE for a large company such as EA because if 2ksports did it ..so can EA.
I really think EAsports or more specically Tiburon is missing the entire point of what a football SHOULD BE..it should be fun, polished and exciting to play.. Madden has never been that really..even on the old consoles..it was never FUN..it played damn good..yeah but it was not fun ..it felt dead, dead as a door knob.

This current gen..though it looks pretty.. believe me..CAN and SHOULD look way better then this. WHat baffles me is that they had how many years at a producing a great football game on 360 and ps3? Like 4 times now they pumped out a Madden on these next gen systems and have yet to get it right.. this MUST tell the head people at EA that something is NOT right at Tiburon what so ever.. i feel a HUGE shakeup is needed with the staff and dev team that is behind Madden on 360 and ps3..its time for a big change..

You kno what pisses me off is that we only have one NFL game each year now days..this is TOTALLY RUINED it for the gamer.. all the big honcho's at EA and in the NFL Orginization has totally screwed it up for us by going exclusive. Im just saying compeition brings in more effort at making a game better then the competitor's.. since there is no competition, the effort into making sure bug's,flaws, improvents, etc is less of an issue now.. and this is what we get put on our dish at dinner time now..

Im glad to see Madden09 improve as much as it did this year..thats great but its still not there yet and to me..thats a big blow to me as i've waited since the first madden on 360 up until now for a great looking and playing football game and i still dont have it.

I bet my life if NFL2k was still in the mix.. we would have atleast one good playing and looking football game that would be blowing the socks off our feet right about.. let it be Madden or NFL2k..we would have one good football game at this point right now if there were two diffrent NFL games out there.. its just a damn shame that business men and dollars has taken away all of this from the gamer..what s shame.

WHat baffles me the most is that remember NFL2k5, i can assure you their development team is dwarf by Madden's dev team but yet NFL2k5 was just as good if not better then Madden. Some of you guys would be in total disgust if you knew what kind of crap goes on behind closed door. You think poltics can get dirty and sneaky? My uncle is in the videogame industry somewhat and he tells me the kind of stuff that goes on behind closed doors..its nastier and more crappy then politics itself. You guys would be blown away by the sneaky tactics and stuff like that that goes on behind the videogame biz.

If NFL2k5 could be so good with the amount of development manpower behind that game.. why cant Tiburon ACE it with triple the amount of manpower? SOmething is NOT RIGHT here..change is needed and no..not just one or two guys coming to the Madden team for 2010 editon..i mean a REAL shake up..its been long enough now guys..come on

ELI MANNING SPEED:61

So I've played the Demo and I must say that I wasnt surprised leading up to this past weekend. But once I played the demo (even the VR training) I have now got my football teaser.

I'm a 2K convertee myself and I always liked Madden but loved 2K....but anyway.

I noticed that Eli was able to move around pretty good, which is a good thing, but then I looked up his speed rating...(http://www.sportsgamer.com/content/1603/madden-09-quarterback-ratings/)

only to notice he was a 61, and I remember Madden 08's J Campbell was not as fast as Eli is on this years Madden. Also Campbells rating is 69 which compared to Eli would be extremely fast.

I wasnt able to play defense in the demo (of course) so I dont have much to reference their speed to compared to corners, etc. I did notice that although Eli seemed faster than usual a DE for the Patriots was able to catch me when I ran which is a good thing.

But I guess my question is, is the overall game faster or did they make QB's faster to make up for some gleaming problem that I may be missing? Because last year the nano blitz was horrible for me, and was one of the reason my Madden 08 is still collecting dust.

But all in all I loved the demo. And thats coming from a 2K convertee!!!!

no Dook you can skip the Madden IQ. Before starting it, just go down to quit and it will take you to the Madden moment. I haven't done the Madden IQ at all.

Has anyone spun/juked out of a tackle animation yet? I've tried a 100 times and can't seem to do it. I've been playing NCAA 09 since it was released, which I didn't attend to get this year and I have to say that I really like it more than the Madden demo! I know it's just a demo, but the tackle animations, and IMO....graphics look better on NCAA. For at least 3 months now I've been waiting for Madden, before that I wasn't even going to rent it, but now it looks like I'm going to keep NCAA and wait and see the reviews for Madden before I buy it. Every year is the same ol' song and dance! If it wasn't for me missing football so much in May I wouldn't start watching Madden videos and get so disappointed when I finally get to play it! I'll do it again next year...I'm sure!

EA must feel very confident in Madden this year. as you recall the past 2 years EA would release that years demo when the retail version was already released...

I'm hoping the Natural Motion engine in Backbreaker is good enough to turn heads and take away sales from EA... give em a nice little kick in the balls. With the amount of money EA has and their hunger for buying out the competition, they could possibly consider buying out Natural Motion's football engine... maybe this will be their REAL SHAKEUP.

# 455 gta95 @ 08/04/08 11:12 PM
Better than last year, still not good enough for me to purchase. I don't trust Tiburon AT ALL anymore (except for NFL Head Coach, I hope they can't mess it up because it looks excellent as of now). Until we see a new engine (which I doubt they would want to invest the time in putting together because they may have to spend a little *GASP* money), I may not play Madden or NCAA.

Backbreaker won't sell because it doesn't have the NFL and comes out in like October, the same reason APF sold a fraction of what Madden sold last year (except for the realease date). The whole reason most people buy football games is to play as thier favorite NFL/NCAA team, not just for the love of football.

People are still giving impressions on the demo. And i see its more of the 2k Kool aid drinkers on here. LOL. I Laugh every time i see a comment like that on a Madden Board.

# 458 Militant X 1 @ 08/05/08 01:36 PM
overall..the demo is WEAK in my opinion. i love the graphics...the look and feel of the game...but....you really can't tell to much about it from the demo.

But if you throw a pick, I can't imagine the demo just ends, right? Or does it? I mean at the least, you can finish the play, yes?

# 460 mrsinister11 @ 08/05/08 01:58 PM
what the hell is with throws to the sidelines? there are no toe drag animiations? ncaa did this beautifully and madden go's and screws it up.

half the time i throw the ball to the sideline they wouldn't even need a toe drag animation, just a normal catch would do, but the animation they do ends up taking them out of bounds.

nobody else noticed this?
