Right trigger + up on the Right Stick. Show real play art
Right trigger + down on the Right Stick. Show bluff play art.

After a few picks thrown in a row, the passing seemed to have eased up, so I'm not sure if the Madden IQ is altering or not, but I sure hope so.

Will this work on the regular build too? Like say, I decide to not take the madden test (which I have already decided lol), and I play like 5 exhibitions... the game should accurately reflect my playing skill right?

I personally like this addition to the game the most if all of what I hope is true.
Question bump (for ignorance )

Thanks. That was a big problem with me sucking last night in the demo. Tonight I'm going to do miserably in the IQ test on purpose and see how it easy I can score. I all pro'd everything and all-maddened rushing. I'm not a very good player so I'd rather start easy and then finish strong.

My problems a few pages across have seemed to disappear. Maybe it was the type of stadium we were playing in that made the jerseys look like that. AWFUL LIGHTNING. But playing some games outdoors really changed things up. The sun is the best atmosphere to play under.
Let's see some proof. How about a picture or your XBL gamertag?

I wanted to compare the versions to see which one is better, and which one to get. I am impressed with the PS3 graphics for once in an EA game.

Time to check it out.
If your a silver LIVE member..you can make another gamertag/account on your xbox 360 system..as long as it was bought with a hdd..like a premium/pro or elite system... each of those systems get 3 free 1month xbox live gamertag/accounts..as long as you didnt make 3 accounts on your 360 console..make a new one, pick silver of course but it will automatically pop up and say your entitled to 1 month worth of GOLD LIVE

Trust me..i know... of course you will be using another gamertag when trying the demo but you can actually log out of that gamertag account..log back in with your main gamertag and i believe you'll be able to see the demo saved on your 360 hdd

I don't like to nitpick but some things I noticed...it's only the demo so things may change in the final version obviously.

- Dark Lighting
- Cartoon(ish) Player Models

These 2 are most likely because I have been playing NCAA a lot...in videos it looks great. I'm hoping it's just from NCAA to Madden type of thing which I believe it is.

- Dropped Passes

Really my only complaint. They're great for statistics...but...the ball hits them right in the hands and is very catchable. It would be nice to see these cought and have more over/under throws as incomplete passes instead of balls that hit them in the hands. (Granted it will happen sometimes but these are the only type of incomplete passes for the most part).

Other than that I can't wait. I just can't decide whether to buy or rent first. After the NCAA fiasco I'm a little scared because the demo doesn't say much but once the game arrives then that's a different story.

It doesn't change when you keep replaying the Madden Moment but in the retail copy, your 'My Skill' will change after every game (not sure if this applies to all games or just Franchise)

If you skip the test you get an automatic score of 500 IQ (I'm guessing the 4 tests will be around the Pro/All-Pro level)

I know its a demo, but im definitely going to rent. There are alot of areas that are too cheesy and last-gen IMO. I've been in the process of being sacked and still had the ball come out like a laser. I threw across my body on the run 40 yards perfectly. The WR's route running is atrocious(especially out patterns, its like their legs are on swivels) most of the animations I see are pretty stiff and just not what i would consider next-gen. its just...too much of the same for me. Nothing to make me spend 60 bucks on. I do like the grass texture, and the tightness of the controls for the RB's. Other than that, too many good games coming out in sept. and i know this thing will end up just collecting dust.

I like how If you throw across the body the pass doesn't come close to completion. And I like the placement of the balls thrown on deep routes. I really wish we could play defense. My only nitpick are the damn colored visors. Clear and tinted grey/black are the only ones allowed in the NFL. Yet B. Meriweather has a red one. B.Westbrook has a green one (doesn't even wear one). P. Wilis has a red one and Ed Reed has a purple one in the screens I've seen on here and demo. I'm still pumped for the game though.

-Like most have already said, the graphics are flat out stunning! I don't think anyone in their right mind can dispute that.

-I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it but I feel like there's too much loft on some of the passes. Maybe that's just me.

-I'm not too impressed with this highly touted breakaway animation engine. I was looking to see some new creative tackle animations and break out of several of them. But for the most part, the tackling doesn't look or feel much different than that of Madden 08. After seeing the clips that EA marketed this year regarding the new animation engine, I expected much more.

-All in all, it feels like good ol' Madden gameplay. Whether that's a good thing or bad thing depends on what side of the fence you sit on. I do hope to see the game speed toned down in the future though (along w/ players walking to the line of scrimmage ).
Keep in mind..your playing a 1gb demo.. do you honestly believe all the tackling, breaking out of tackle, etc animiations are crammed into a 1gb demo?

# 332 icomb1ne @ 08/01/08 06:24 PM
Damn, I just missed a huge opportunity. I scored a touchdown with 3 seconds left, but it might of been out of bounds. Anyways, it let keep playing! I scored the extra point and kicked it off. Unfortunately I should have kicked it out of bounds or something so I could have played 1 play on defense. But instead I just did a regular kick off and the return took the rest of the time up. Oh well...

Yes. The only things stripped out of the demo to save space are features/commentary. Gameplay animations are not stripped out. What you see in the demo is what you get come release day in terms of gameplay.

I don't have much to say other than it was boring playing the demo. Why do they have the exact same plays that are in NCAA? They aren't just similar they have the same names and everything.

I noticed the same thing...this play called "levels"...eh

playbooks in all fball games need a massive overhaul, especially on defense

The madden IQ test for passing was way too easy. It puts me on the highest difficulty, where I just get demolished in game.

same... the Madden IQ test is terrible at evaluating a player's skill. Since when is a good running game measured by how well you do in the open field? Never, is the correct answer, but apparently Madden 09 doesn't know this.

# 338 BlackRome @ 08/01/08 09:19 PM
Since the 360 has been out each year I plunk down on Madden and each year I wind up playing Madden on my O.G.Xbox.

The Demo was promising but not letting me play defense worries the heck out of me.

a few quick thoughts:

+ after going deep a few plays in a row, shockey and burress got tired.
+graphics look really good
+i was able to drop the ball across the middle a few times and my reciever was able to get some rac yards instead of always slowing down during the catch animaiton and getting caught from behind

-i got outside with jacobs and tried to run some guys over with the highlight stick. he juked a guy, spun off a guy, and hurdled a guy
-i noticed some db 's speeding up and sliding little to deflect a pass when i tried to lead the reciever, throwing away from the corner. i.e. db playing outside on a streak at the last second sliding really quick past the wr to the inside to bat down my pass
-i picked i-form big hb dive on that very first play. the pats came out with goaline. when i retried the "madden moment" i picked i-form big play action. the pats came out in a 4-3. in fact on that first 4th and 1 whenever i picked a run play they picked goalline. whenever i picked a PA they came out in a more balanced defense.
-the run offense part of the madden iq test is whack. fun, but imo not a good judge of your run off iq
-db's on streaks still play behind the reciever, chasing him
-----A VERY BIG OVERSIGHT OF THE MADDEN IQ TEST IS PLAYCALLING. HOW CAN YOU MEASURE MY RUN OFF, OR RUN D WITHOUT MEASURING MY PLAYCALLYING ABLITIES?
i'll be watching you guys' impressions after release.

I won't go into a lot of detail (because most of the plusses and minuses have already been covered), but I will say that I am more optimistic about this game. From what I've seen, the game seems to play more realistic than past next gen Maddens ( I guess the change in lead producer helped out with that). Not sure if I'm going to buy the game first day. I will be at the midnight release though (I'm an Army recruiter so this gives me a chance to talk to the guys that come out.... it's all about opportunities )
