News Post

We have identified and fixed the bug causing the game to crash when editing rosters. This bug also causes teams to disappear and team ratings to change.

The patch is being tested tonight, and assuming all goes well it will be submitted tomorrow for certification. The expected release is in 5-10 days.

Until the patch, we recommend you cease editing rosters. Rosters that have been corrupted by the bug will not work after the patch. If you have a roster in progress and have not encountered any freezes or missing teams, it will work after the patch. There is a possibility a roster can be corrupt and not have surfaced any problems yet. This is why we recommend that you stop or back up your work among multiple save files.

We are also fixing the bug where the depth chart gets reordered after editing a player with this patch.

These are the ONLY fixes in this patch. We are planning on a 2nd patch with many fixes, but we had to get this one out the door.

We appreciate everyone's patience on this matter.

Special thanks to CDJ, 21SEC, and Fairdale Kings for helping us track this down.

Hold your horses there pal, I am not saying that bowl patches should take priority over some of the other prevalent issues (rosters, etc) but i am just wondering why they take out those things and leave them out? I was also just curious whether that would be difficult to fix with a patch and whether it would b e time consuming. I have no programming experience and was hoping someone on here would be able to better educate me on that issue. I honestly think that some of those "more important" issues will probably get solved so I am wondering if throwing that in there would be tedious.

the only things that will be patched are gameplay elements. Thats it. As for bowl logos on jerseys, they are looking to add them next year.

Will the patch fix any of the editing problems on players. It's all backwards again on players weighing between 200-235. Making their arms, calves etc bigger acutally decreases the size and decreasing it makes them bigger?

We didn't take bowl patched out. They were never implemented to begin with.

And when i said "take them out" i meant from the PS2 to the PS3. On the PS2 they had the bowl patches. That is my point, why is that? Is it that hard?

I noticed that too, even though no one from EA has acknowledged it

Same her I get pass interference, holding clipping offsides,l false starts, etc..No problem there, it mght be the way he/she is playing? Usually if the momentum is in your favor the other team will make more mistakes, and vice versa. If you are playing even teams that is..If you play an inferior opponent, you will see far more mistakes. But that depends on your playstyle....

Even for the human player, there just doesn't seem to be a whole lot of deep options.

I do see him go deep, but not enough.

Just as the game is this year in real life, thee is a stress on crossing routes and slants...Not so much the deep ball, since most college QB just dont have the arm strength and accuracy to complete them..(Not all but most)..Most big plays in College come from a slant or crossing route, a broken tackle or two and theres your 40 yard gain...There are bombs, but only in blown coverage situations, or playing an inferior opponent..Example Florida vs Army..You might just see a bomb or two in that match up, because the DBS just do not match up at all

Sorry if this has been mentioned, but another bug I've seen that was also in last 08 is the Recruiting Map. It still has the players listed in random positions other than their listed position.

Have they solved the roster editing problem? Has the patch been released yet?

Maybe I'm reading a little too much into this, but not to consider the slider issue bad enough where 'it has to be' in the next patch versus 'hoping' concerns me. I would be very interested in knowing what these other critical issues are.

They have a patch and it is in the certification process by Microsoft and Sony. Expected release date is 5-10 days. May be more.

I can't get some players arm size to go down or up in size at all. Like Marcus Freeman of Ohio State and Taylor Mays of USC. Freemans arms are too big and Mays arms aren't big enough. No matter wat i try it's not working...is EA aware of this problem?

I'm sure theres an issue or two that ranks high on the list, but I completely agree with you. This is a huge deal for game play, if you ask me. I'd understand if it was only one slider messed up, but I'm not getting anything from ANY of the CPU sliders. I was looking for a little more than ''hoping,'' myself. I just wish this issue had gotten to me before I bought the game.

Let's keep our fingers crossed... Because this is the last time I get screwed over. Every title from here on, is a rental. First question from me come August - ''Do the sliders work?''

# 360 Skyboxer @ 07/21/08 10:18 PM
Personally I think:
EA needs to fix ALLthe issues that are supposed to be working...and sooner rather than later.

Open up the check book and hire some real testers....

They (EA) needs to understand when they release a game that is broken on many levels people are going to get irritated. It's not the gamers fault that issues we find within minutes make it through to the final retail version.

EA isn't the victim, which I feel tries to get portrayed a lot here lately...
