News Post

We have identified and fixed the bug causing the game to crash when editing rosters. This bug also causes teams to disappear and team ratings to change.

The patch is being tested tonight, and assuming all goes well it will be submitted tomorrow for certification. The expected release is in 5-10 days.

Until the patch, we recommend you cease editing rosters. Rosters that have been corrupted by the bug will not work after the patch. If you have a roster in progress and have not encountered any freezes or missing teams, it will work after the patch. There is a possibility a roster can be corrupt and not have surfaced any problems yet. This is why we recommend that you stop or back up your work among multiple save files.

We are also fixing the bug where the depth chart gets reordered after editing a player with this patch.

These are the ONLY fixes in this patch. We are planning on a 2nd patch with many fixes, but we had to get this one out the door.

We appreciate everyone's patience on this matter.

Special thanks to CDJ, 21SEC, and Fairdale Kings for helping us track this down.

The slider defect is bad. We have a few critical fixes before it, but I'm hoping to get it in the 2nd patch.

OMT, just curious what the "critical fixes" are... any insight would be great!

I'm curious when it will be released b/c I can't play a single game without it freezing up.

I'm just curious, what happens after it's out of central?

I just want to know what issues are being focused on in the 2nd patch.

If people truely knew how hard it is to make a quality video game, most people would shut up. Keep up the good work...(pat on your back)

I'm sure most people appreciate you being here. I think with the back and forth posting between you and other members of forum we will get the game as close as possible to perfect one of these days. I hope the developers being on the board will become a permanent thing every year.

Well, at least there's some hope then.

Thanks.

Look I know it has been asked a lot, but i have not seen a clear answer yet, maybe no one kows for sure. Do cpu defensive sliders work at all or not. I would like some clarification so, I don't waste anymore time testing them when editing sliders. I have seen people on here who think they work and people who don't think they work. I am starting to enjoy the game a little on heisman. I think with a little tuning this game could be killer.

Won't fixing the sliders fix a lot of these "gameplay" issues as well?

OMT, quick question, with the 2nd patch do we have to start our online dynasties over?

I think it will. If they simply make the CPU sliders work and add some deep ball we'll be set.

But I think the biggest problem with the lack of deep ball are the crappy playbooks. What in the hell happened?

I dunno whats wrong with some of your games, but I see a lot of penalties...Especially called against the CPU. I get a lot of face masks.

Even the issues with pass rush, i'm not seeing it man.

I dont think its the crappy playbooks. I think the CPU goes deep when it identifies one on one (usually cover zero). When they see a safety over the top, they refuse to go deep, its probably the logic in the game. Ive seen the CPU go deep, but its 95% when i go no safeties or big blitz package.

Sliders will fix some issues, but not all.

I think the correction of sliders coupled with some other issues makes this game a H.O.F'er but right now, we're stuck with first round bust.

Yea EA messed up...but at least it'll be fixed. This game is a step in the right direction, but NCAA 2010 better be the year of defense, game is fun but defense needs an overhaul.
Nah overhaul = overcorrecting, so next year offense will be too difficult. Just do the necessary tweaks and be done with it.

That's a good question. Adam?? It does say that the sliders are "Custom AI controls" so if they affect AI rather than player ratings, then yes I would think so.

Adam - how exactly are the sliders SUPPOSED to work? Are they supposed to "rev up" or "dumb down" player ratings, or actually change the underlying AI? The way I looked at it up to now was that you have different levels, i.e. Freshman, Varsity, AA, Heisman, and the sliders are ways of "fine-tuning" within those levels. Like with the "roboQB" problem, if you could set CPU pass accuracy to zero and have it mean something, their QB should throw more errant passes.

And I have another question - if you Super-Sim (with or without watching plays) do sliders not matter at all, or do both teams go according to CPU sliders?

I too have not had any problems with penalties not being called. I have seen everything from holding, face mask's, clipping, intentional grounding.

Any new word on when the patch will come out for the rosters. This is the only problem I have really had with the game.

Anyone know what happens after Central? Does it go to Microsoft/Sony for release?

I see a lot of facemask penalties when I try to strip the ball.

All I see is False Starts, Def. Pass Int. and Facemasks regularly. I'd like to see Clipping/block in the back, as well as more holding calls, etc
