Actually, if this was broken they'd most likely use the Airforce playbook as they are team 1 in the DB.

Have you checked the entire playbook for LSU for this? I'll remember to take a look on monday and if I don't see anything, I'll ask Anthony White. He'll be able to get to the bottom of this.
Yeah I was actually looking for it when I first started the game, being an Oregon fan Gary Crowton used the pistol (and brought it to LSU last year) and couldn't find it so I just assumed it wasn't in. But then playing as Ohio State they came out in the pistol formation and the announcer even made mention of it and everything.

While I'm talking about the pistol. I saw in a screenshot Steve posted of Oregon lined up in the pistol in this year's game. Under Chip Kelly they operate exclusively out of the shotgun. Just a heads up. I don't know why I always notice things like this, I'm honestly not trying to make things difficult for you guys!

Not sure. I doubt it though. You probably need to have your teammates past the defense. If the logic works like commentary, which it probably does, then you need to have them past the defense after the 30 yard line I think.

You can put the chant in the game yourself with the Stadium Sounds feature.

Play calling end of game AI needs work too, the CPU will only take one knee and then runs a regular play even if you are out of timeouts and they can run it down to zero. They just went play action with ~25 seconds to go, just absurd.

Imagine if this demo came out a little sooner and EA used us (the consumers) as game testers. I mean we have 113 pages of impressions. That kind of feedback would certainly help the final product. Just a thought.

1. when your QB walks up to the line. he would get behind the center and all of a sudden slide slightly to the left or right of the center. so the animation shows the QB in a ready to rec'd the snap pose but in between the center and the guard. ( it's a little irritating).

2. during any auto replays, it looks like the replay is so compress that on passing plays, while the ball is in the air there is no rotation to the ball and it warps to the receiver's hands.

3. while in auto replays, when all the player run they look like string puppets with tangling legs moving back and forth.

i love the demo by the way i thought you guys did a great job this year. love all the new animation you guys put in.

and my last game i heard corso say even william wallace from brave heart can't motivate those guys. that was pretty funny
I'm sure they also happen on 360. I don't see why they wouldn't. All the PS3 specific work was to get it 60 fps. The guy who got that task is freaking brilliant BTW!

The stuff in the replays... I have learned recently from Simon Sherr (he has posted on the OS Madden forum) that we drop frames and do silly stuff for the replays. I'll take a look at it, but removing the ball rotation animation in replays may have been done on purpose.

I have never heard the William Wallace line, but I do remember seeing it when I was auditing the speech script. I'll take a look at when it plays cause if it is a common situation, it has to go. It is funny to hear once... twice it is a "well, it is a video game" thing... after that, it is a problem. Lines like this are what I mean when I refer to "memorable lines."

If Kirk says "the quarterback made a good throw there" that is a line to keep. If Kirk says "Can we get Tye or Josh in there at quarterback?" this is a line to remove. That was a line we added this year at Kirk's request. Tye and Josh (or maybe it is Jacob) are his twin boys. This line will play 20% of the time if it is the second half and you just threw your 6th interception. I figure if I post that here... ONE of you guys will try to get it to play! That will make Kirk happy.

well just wanted to give you a heads up, i played the 360 demo all day prior to downloading the ps3 demo. at no time did i see the QB line up to the side of the center. also the auto-replay for the 360 were all fine. ball had rotation and no footsliding in fact i was impress with the foot pinning.

thank you for your help and answer Adam

HAHA! When I was a tester I put this in as a bug. The engineer ran it against the AI script and said it called to take a knee again and he invalidated my bug! Yes, this is totally wrong! Our AI script needs a lot of work.

OMT also one more glitch on the ps3. when your running with the ball and switch ball to the other hand the ball disappears and the arms flickers in and out.

I saw the same thing on the PS3 version with the QB off center but its not everytime and not on the 360 version in the games i played.

However, i think the 360 scoring summary was wrong on TDs- summary only showing the extra point and the PS3 version had it correct (i am pretty sure that is correct).

I only have intermediate programming experience, but it seems like this should be fixed with a few lines of code, something like:

if ((5-Down-DefenseTimeouts)*.25>TimeLeft && Points.Offense>Points.Defense && Yardline>5)
Play.Offense=VictoryFormation;

I can see how programming which specific play to call in the rest of the game would be a bitch to set up so that it appears believable and adaptable to what the user throws at it, but something like this seems like it should be a very easy fix, no?

Finally played the demo tonight, very impressed compared to last year. The graphics look great, player reaction is nice as well. The key to a good football game is the ability to feel like you can control the player to do whatever you want him to do at any time. This game feels more fluid, but I'm not sure it's all the way there. To me that's what makes a great football game, actually feeling like your controlling every movement, where as last years game felt like you started a player movement, but the cpu finished it. Overall I was impressed, enough to go buy a 360 and this game. I just wish the player movement was a little more fluid.

I've seen this as well. Happens to me everytime the QB goes under center. The center bumps the QB or the QB bumps the center and the QB shifts to the right or left a little bit. I also noticed a hitch when walking to the line that wasn't in the 360 version. You guys have had this hitch in next gen since 07 but seems you cleaned it up on the 360 version in 09. Its in the PS3 version though.

As it was stated that the build was from late April so I'm sure you guys would have cleared all this up by July or I would hope so.

I've also noticed the bug with the QB slightly off under center on the PS3 as well as the rotation on the ball in the air being off at times. Maybe someone can correct me but I think EA has never gotten the spin on the football right. Often times (every other quarter?) I'll notice the spin is in the opposite direction than it should be. Not a big deal but I do notice it once in awhile.

Finally back in town to play the demo. PS3 version

My 1st impression of the game was kinda weak so I turned it off! I gave it another chance this morning & was a little more impressed with the overall feel of the game. Although I think this game has a long way to go its definately better than last years version. Player models look good & field textures are great. Dont really care for those late afternoon games, it just looks dull with that orangish color. Seen some nice animations to but the overall feel of the game seems like last gen to me. Hopefully the retail version will be better but I think I can have fun with this one. If EA could just get prensetation right & interactions between the OL/DL, WR/DB, QB drops & animations this would improve the game drastically. Its sometimes the small things that make a game feel real. I just dont feel it with this game.

A question for you Adam.

Have you guys ever considered putting your wishlist together and then letting the various community boards vote on what they would like to see added and what to leave on the cutting room floor?

Adding team entrances was a big job back then. On next gen it is a bigger job. Look... we really DO want it. It is just a VERY expensive feature. We could have put it in 09 and people would button through and then post on OS that we should have online dynasty by now. But we couldn't get both in one year. We went with online dynasty.

You are entitled to disagree with our decisions. There is nothing wrong with it. Just please don't think this is a simple feature. It is an extremely complicated task. We CAN do it, we will just have to cut other stuff we want to do to make it happen.

Ok, here's the first wave of things you can do:

1- Several QB passing animations(for the really good pocket passers they could have a smooth, flawless motion like Eli Manning and then there could be the Phillip Rivers or Vince Young motions plus some more).

2- Spring Game

3- More alternates/updated uni's-maybe even the ability to choose which pants with which jersey.

4-FCS teams and season coinciding with BCS: Work on having older transfers leave for FCS school for immediate PT.

5-Separate recruiting pool for JUCO's. The lower rated JUCO's will most likely go to the FCS schools.

6- Medical Redshirts

7-Don't worry so much about pre-game stuff, like you said, it will get buttons "mashed" so everyone will end up skipping it.

8-The biggest wish of all, a way to tie in all of the BCS(at least the BCS) conferences together in an online dynasty so we can play humans in the post-season and recruit. I guess they'd have to tie in from the pre-season on. I have no idea how this would work. I guess I'd be part of an SEC dynasty, I'd have to have tie-ins to people with the other league dynasties, and we'd all join up for one huge online dynasty. I guess that's impossible. It was only a year ago that someone told me a twelve player online would never happen since it was impossible to do, so....

Thanks for all the hard work, and time and willingness to answer our questions here. Now get to work on this list, you have plenty to do. lol

I didnt read the whole thread but I had a bug where the menus completely disappeared the entire game. No play calling screen, no overlays , nothing. Still played the game though. This is the xbox 360 version.

Otherwise, a marked improvement over last years.

People were wondering why haven't done this yet... the reason is that it was such a big feature, it was always looked at the feature that would take away from improving all the other aspects of the game... IE we'd have to put all our resources getting it in and everything else would be the same. That wouldn't sell many copies. This is America... sales are the name of the game, right?

Everyone on NCAA this year did a hell of a job to get Online Dynasty in and at the same time, improve the look and feel of the game overall. It really was quite an accomplishment and NCAA 09 is a great game because of it. We knew when/if we did Online Dynasty the game would otherwise be feature light.... however, we'd get it out of the way and be able to add features for years to come as the online dynasty stuff was out of the way. We took that hit this year and the game turned out wonderful in spite of it!

I understand the need to focus on online dynasties and online play, but to the detriment of presentation? Alot of gamers are getting older and have responsibilites such as a wife, kids, jobs, etc and dont have the time to put in hours for online franchises. I think EA is capable of doing both presentation and online to please both camps. I dont see a reason EA couldnt add a spring game, or add at least a pre-game, halftime, or post game wrap up show. I just dont see the desire to add to the presentation of the game. The game gets really mundane after a few months of play and this year looks no different than the last few years. On the other hand, madden's presentation has gotten a little bit of a facelift that is a step in the right direction. I havent bought madden in the last four years because after renting them, I didnt see a difference in the game. This year looks different and better. Ncaa 09 presentation, not so much.
