Re: NBA 2K21 "The Eccentric Edition" - Next-Gen Slider Set

"Almost There" Major Update!

This update will showcase:

- Some additional settings to make the AI defense even more bothersome
- Further improved PnR defense that should lead to more switches and highlight elite defenders
- The first stages of my much-improved AI offensive decision making

That's right, today's update finally includes a *TEST* version of my AI Offensive Tendency Overhaul. Even though these tendencies are still a work-in-progress, I need to hear what you guys think so that I can really fine-tune the offense as quickly and as effectively as possible.

PLEASE post any and all CONSTRUCTIVE feedback, positive or negative, so that I know what people like and what I need to improve on! Also, please post any and all personal findings and/or tweaks you've tried out. Try to point out what you are seeing too much of (ex. The AI attacks the basket too often), what you're not seeing enough of (ex. The AI does not go to the post often enough), etc.

Enjoy!

Looking forward to diving in, with my Knicks rebuild using JBs draft classes. Do you recommend shot timing or Real %

Take Inside Shots - 25
Take Close Shots - 10
Take Mid-Range Shots - 20
Take 3PT Shots - 25
Post Shots - 25
Attack the Basket - 75
Look for Post Players - 75
This was without them and this is the first time I'm seeing the edits, about to plug them in now

You’ve got a great base here with the movement and AI defense. It’s right in my sweet spot.

The CPU tendencies are a double edge sword. I enjoy that they’re aggressive to the hoop, getting to the line as well.

However that same downhill mentality has them passing on a lot of outside shots. It’s like they’re being told don’t shoot, attack only.

Think it’s pretty close, saw the AI score from some different areas such as the mid post or backdoor, but just need to find a way to balance that with a quicker trigger on the outside.

Nice work here though, enjoying following the progress.

I wouldn’t decrease the attacking tendency, but try increasing the 3pt and/or mid tendencies to help this.

Interesting, as I've been seeing a TON of 3pt shots by the AI, which is why I had to lower the 3pt tendency to 25. This is exactly why I wanted to you guys to try these tendencies!

Try raising Take 3pt to 30 or 35 and see if that's better.

Re: NBA 2K21 "The Eccentric Edition" - Next-Gen Slider Set

I played one game Rockets vs. Orlando (playerlock on PG, so McLemore and Wall) and the result was 64-77. Using the sliders on the OP and 12 min qtrs.

Field Goals: 25/78 (32%) - 33/95 (35%)
3 Pointers: 3/27 (11%) - 4/28 (14%)
Free Throws: 11/19 (58%) - 7/14 (50%)
Fast Break Points: 4 - 6
Points in the Paint: 40 - 48
Second chance Points: 6 - 7
Bench Points: 11 - 22
Assists: 14 - 16
Offensive Rebounds: 10 - 16
Defensive Rebounds: 53 - 51
Steals: 9 - 19
Blocks: 6 - 0
Turnovers (Points off): 20 (8) - 13 (14)
Team Fouls: 15 - 12
Dunks: 10 - 7
Biggest Lead: 4 - 22
Time of Possession: 19:37 - 28:22

Some player stats:

Wall (me) 8/20 FG 0/4 3PT - 25/8/5
Harden 7/27 FG 1/10 3PT - 16/6/2
Cousins 4/6 FG 0/0 3PT - 9/14/1
Gordon 1/5 FG 1/3 3PT - 3/5/1
Wood 4/5 FG 0/0 3PT - 8/12/0
Tucker 0/2 FG 0/2 3PT - 0/10/1
House 0/3 FG 0/1 3PT - 0/3/2
Gree 0/4 FG 0/3 3PT - 0/1/1

---

Vucevic 8/17 FG 0/0 3PT - 17/27/4
Fultz 5/16 FG 0/2 3PT - 11/2/1
Gordon 5/10 FG 1/2 3PT - 11/4/2
Fournier 4/15 FG 1/11 3PT - 9/6/1
Ennis 2/7 FG 0/3 3PT - 7/6/3

---

I haven't played in a long time like this, but i noticed the AI was stealing too much passes and not trying to shoot 3s (specially the Rockets) also if i remember correctly the coach style was set to post centric for the rockets? i have the ACE turned on and the same plays were going over and over again.. the same ISO for Harden and he'd just chuck a three that wouldn't even hit the rim and no off ball movement from Gordon, Tucker, House etc.

Hope this helps.

Thanks man! I’ve never played player lock before but there’s still a bit of information here that helps.

First of all the shooting percentages. I haven’t settled on my Shot Success sliders yet, but with the stronger AI defending the shot success sliders will definitely have to be increased. Feel free to increase 3pt shot success to 60 or higher and Inside/Close shot success to about the same. Midrange seems fine around 54.

AI blocks have always been an issue at default, so increase the Block slider for the CPU to 55 or so.

Interesting that now multiple people have reported the AI taking too few 3pt shots. Looks like the 3pt tendency will definitely need to go up to 30 or 35.

And for fouls, increase the USER Shooting Foul slider to 100 (the USER will be called for more shooting fouls against the CPU, giving the CPU more free throw attempts), and put the USER and CPU Loose Ball fouls to 100 as well. The rest will need a little more testing before I can give a solid answer.
