Regardless, sure, Utah deserves the chance, but will never get it (nor will any mid-major) unless they schedule like "major" BCS schools and then have all of the power schools (teams like USC, etc..) lose.
Cept they play in the MW which is btw, just as good as the Big East and ACC.

Not sure how you can call Utah's 13-10 win over TCU more impressive than anything OU did when OU beat TCU 35-10.

Or beating Alabama by a lot, compared to Oklahoma beating Texas Tech.

The point still pretty much stands though.

No, they would've been, but they were screwed by Oregon before they had the chance.

OU started at #5, beat UAB in the season opener 24-17, dropped to #10, beat a good Washington team 37-20, then the Oregon game...

And even if the BCS put Utah at #1 before the BCS Selection, the BCS Championship would've been #1 Utah vs. #2 Oklahoma. Sure, I know it's "fair", but it's not as appealing as Florida vs. Oklahoma. Utah is good, but they're not as good as USC, Florida, Texas, and Oklahoma.

The main argument for Utah is TCU. Utah beat TCU 13-10, while OU beat TCU 35-10.

at #24 Michigan by 2
vs. Oregon State by 3
vs. #11 TCU by 3
vs. #14 BYU by 24
vs. #4 Alabama by 14

and it doesn't help Utah that they beat Weber State by only 16.

UF's big wins:
vs. #3 LSU by 30
vs. #8 Georgia by 39
vs. #23 South Carolina by 50
at #24 Florida State by 30
vs. #1 Alabama by 11

OU's big wins:
vs. #23 TCU by 25
vs. #16 Kansas by 14
vs. #2 Texas Tech by 44
at # 12 Oklahoma State by 20
vs. #17 Missouri by 41

When you total the point differential up

Utah - 46
Florida - 160
Oklahoma - 144

This shows how the three teams play in big games. Utah seems to struggle in their big games, therefore making them prone to blowout if they were to play Oklahoma or Florida in the National Championship.

Here's another reason why Utah shouldn't be in the National Championship, and shouldn't even be in a discussion to why they should be in the Title Game.

Non Conference Schedule (FCS teams not included)

Utah:
at (3-9) Michigan by 3
vs. (3-9) Utah State by 48
vs. (9-4) Oregon State by 3

Florida
vs. (7-7) Hawaii by 46
vs. (7-6) Miami by 23
at (9-4) Florida State by 30

Oklahoma
vs. (11-2) Cincinnati by 26
at (0-12) Washington by 41
vs. (10-2) TCU by 25

Utah's NC Opponents -
Average Record - 5-7
Average Margin of Victory - 18

Florida's NC Opponents
Average Record - 7-6
Average Margin of Victory - 30

Oklahoma's NC Opponents
Average Record - 7-5
Average Margin of Victory - 31

Re: Does Utah deserve a chance at a split MNC?

Utah is the only undefeated team in college football and they own a convincing BCS bowl victory over a team that was ranked in the Top 5 and at #1 for part of the season. I don't see how you can deny them. They beat the teams that were on their schedule. What else can they do?

It amazes me that you can analyze the teams' performance in big games in that much detail while ignoring the fact that Utah was the only one of those three teams who won all of their big games.

Re: Does Utah deserve a chance at a split MNC?

I would vote for a 5 way split. Utah, USC, Texas, thurday winner and Ole Miss.

I am putting Ole Miss in there because they beat Florida and Texas Tech who beat Texas who beat Oklahoma. I know that they have 4 losses, but the BCS committee has tought me that I can ignore certain losses if I so chose.

Great job BCS!!
