You're smarter than that.

You're overestimating UGA and Ole Miss' win totals by 1.

UGA and Ole Miss combined to win 19 games.

Nebraska and TAMU combined to win 18 games..
Do we want to seriously compare UGA/Ole Miss to '06 Nebraska/TAMU? Ole Miss beat Florida in the Swamp. UGA won double digit games in a much tougher conference and dropped three games to three top-15 teams. Nebraska lost 5 games and played in the Big XII North and TAMU lost to nearly all of the ranked teams they played.

19 total wins in a conference in which the two best teams were Texas/Chokie? Compared to 19 total wins in a conference in which the two best teams are Florida/Alabama? The best win combined from both NU/TAMU was probably @ Texas. How does that compare to winning @ the Swamp or beating Texas Tech?

Penn State destroyed Oregon State but that didn't mean Penn State was better than USC. Bama beat Ole Miss but that didn't mean Bama was better than Florida.
But there is no evidence that anyone could beat Utah this year. Thats the point. There is evidence that every other team in the land could be beaten. This is why you have to decide this on the field.

Welcome to the Westminster Dog show where Utah is a mutt that found its way in amongst a bunch of pedigrees. Despite being perfect, they are still a Mutt with no BCS papers, so they are disqualified.

To answer the OP I say why not? But so do USC and UT (providing they win convincingly against tOSU). So that would be a four way split including the fla/ou winner.

It's the only way things are fair imo. This year more than any the nc will be mythical.

I'm actually really glad Utah won because this really muddies up the waters. If bama had won it would have legitimized the bcs championship game all the more. Now it really puts it into question especially if Florida beats OU.

LOL, you could say the same about Alabama.

IT'S WHY THEY PLAY THE GAMES. But since Utah or USC or Florida or OU or Texas can't play each other in a playoff, then we have to go on merit.

We believe that Utah has more merit than any of those teams.

The one thing that I don't like:

People say that Alabama was overrated, or not that great. Instead of Alabama being not so-great, how about Utah was just better then advertised?

Regardless, sure, Utah deserves the chance, but will never get it (nor will any mid-major) unless they schedule like "major" BCS schools and then have all of the power schools (teams like USC, etc..) lose.

Sad but true.

Great analogy.

Absolutely. Beating Alabama and TCU is more impressive than anything on USC's and Oklahoma's resume.

I do think it's a tad bit ironic though that people are quicker to call Alabama "overrated" then they are to give credit to Utah. Alabama was a fecking quarter away from playing in the MNC, yet suddenly they're overrated? LOL. That doesn't give enough credit to Utah for making them look "overrated" in the first place.
